I tear up when I am watching a very happy ending in a good movie. I teared up at the ending of The Pursuit of Happyness and Real Steel. There are times when I have teared up while listening to the bridge of Coldplay's Fix You. Sometimes I have teared up when I am really happy (like, when my ex made me a very beautiful card for my birthday).

I think it is okay to tear up. Hey, we are humans and we can express our emotions. I'd rather be alive like this than be stone-cold and dead. :)

But this is just my opinion.
Fix You makes me cry too! :D And so does Red Shoes, but that's a whole other thread..

hey, maybe you should make a thread called "What Songs Make You Cry" :)

Red Shoes, the fairy tale?

Hey, your story related to this topic is still pending. :p
What story?

Oops its actually called Christmas Shoes. Its is this christmas song about a boy who wants to buy shoes for his mom who's about to be with Jesus.

Oh, by story do you mean when I said I know the answer? It's John 11:35 - "Jesus Wept" :)

No, it's not unmanly.

Or, if it is, I'm in trouble!

I'm moved by situations like our military personnel being re-united with family, or people coming together to help someone in need.

I am very surprised to find that, despite what society dictates a man must be, there are men who cry like I do. :)

Or is it only a CC thing?

Crying is actually a natural reflex to intense stress. It is part of the body's sympathetic nervous system (fight-or-flight mechanism). The tear ducts and sinus start overproducing protective secretions to coat the eyes and sinuses much like if you had an allergy. This is the SNS doing its job to protect the body when it senses stress overload or foreign anti-bodies (allergy, infection). Stress actually triggers the SNS just like an allergy or infection. That's why your nose gets runny, your eyes get puffy, your throat gets tight, etc..

Yes it is okay. Im a guy and i cry sometimes, mainly alone where no one can see, but to be truthful I have a tendency to cry when i feel i have really failed or feel extremely alone, or especially when i hear a song that relates to me. Personally if i saw a guy cry i wouldnt know what to do, but i certainly wouldn't look at him as any less of a man, that is just stupid and immature

Crying is a natural body function......seriously don't think we have a choice.....ya got tear ducts....your gonna produce tears.....sure..... you can be shamed into trying to control them......But sooner or later tears gotta flow....silly people say it shows weakness....yea...for people who over dramatize life.....that's controlling in a whole another topic.....I personally would not trust a manwho didn't......shows too much pride......a humble man......now your talking......peace....jo

Crying can still be avoided, but it takes every ounce of willpower and is sort of like trying not to cough or sneeze only much harder.

I have to say what needs to be said...if your a man and you seem too ready to cry like a girl or a kid...then other men are not going to trust you...not in business nor in ministry... Im sorry but to some men this is a sign of some emotional instability and its not looked upon as a positive thing at all by most men.

Crying is a show of human emotion, and for a man not to cry is a personal moral made up by man.
There is nothing in the bible against a man crying, as a matter of fact it supports just the opposite. As it talks about we are to show remorse, Godly sorrow for the things we have done, and to show it in our actions...........

John 11:35

Jesus wept.

Well I guess that's kinda true ...but what im hearing is some claiming that a man should be so emotional they act like a girl? And im sorry but not all men cry..thankfully God has softened my heart and im often moved by His Spirit to tears...but I have known men that have never cried as adults.
