Oops! Looks like I went with the wrong thought! TV - Walking Dead. The only show on mainstream TV I know of that had a preacher who read his Bible, on the show, and it led and guided the whole group. Since he and one daughter died, the other daughter is having a crisis of faith. But not portrayed negatively. Now some kind of preacher with a collar who is not a good Christian, but is struggling with God to become one. Despite the zombies, there is an amazing development of character, and also of the conflict between values under God and under the new status quo. I do hate the Zombies, but the show could stand on its own without them.

Do you still play the violin, Melita? My oldest son (33) played from age 4 to 14. He was incredible and his teacher said he had the potential to become a concert violinist. He hardly practiced, because of sports, although his teacher said he accomplished more in 10 minutes of practicing than the rest of his students did in 90 minutes! He finally quit because he went into Junior A hockey at age 15, then the WHL, then University hockey.

I wonder how different his life had been if he had chosen violin instead of hockey. Mind you, his hockey scholarship put him through university, and he now runs a skate company!

Man, that's something to ponder, Paul three years with the Holy Spirit renewing and preparing him. If there's any mere man I wholly admire and learn from, it is Paul of Tarsus. I have hounded Father God for decades asking how Paul was able to be so humble, so selfless, so set free, so persuaded of Christ Jesus' grace.

"I rejoice in my tribulations." (Romans 5:3) I'm crying my eyes out just typing Paul's words. That was his most powerful testimony to me. How Jesus Christ was more real to Paul than his present suffering. I envied Paul's relationship with Christ. I thought if I ever grasped the truth of his statement, I could be a different person, too.

But Father God showed me the motive of my heart, how I was really afraid that I wasn't as valuable to God as Paul was. And instead of trying to be like Paul, Jesus is making me more like Him and I am starting to see what Paul was talking about.

"Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done." Luke 22:42

It is amazing to me how GOD works in our life but his timing is perfect. I started a similar post last night on what you are speaking about now, I named it the power of the cross.

The implication is that Christ taught Paul face to face for three years...

It is too uncanny how much in common you have with my son. He started playing keyboard at a young age (4 yrs), began playing viola in middle school, then took up trombone, guitar, and bass (upright & electric) in high school. He also plays drums. And like you, he has led worship for years. And like you, he likes to play O Holy Night at Christmastime.

Both of you are committed to Jesus Christ, you both have hearts of compassion, you both tell me the corniest jokes I've ever heard, and you both are single. (heehee)

It was always noisy. We all talked at once and shared everything. Of course, that is a bad habit to get into, talking over people, but at the time, it was a source of fun and companionship.

What I did not like about meals as a child, was having to eat everything that was on my plate! No dessert if I did not. But I grew to love vegetables that way, so long term it was all good!
Ya'll got dessert? That was a foreign concept to us growing up. Although daddy never had to tell any of us boys to eat up. If I recall, his words were, "Boy, get away from the table." We would eat as long as there was anything on the table.

It's more than an implication. It is a fact.

Wow ... I'm struggling for words to describe how beautiful this post was to read. I had to read it a few times more to this beautiful rendition. I am truly amazed with all of the gals on this thread ... each and every one :)

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
That thorn is what kept Paul humble.

Are you saying Paul met Jesus physically or are we talking in the spirit? I know Paul was lifted to the Throne of God where he saw things he could (or would) not talk about. Did Paul ever meet Jesus in the flesh?

You KNOW Paulwas lifted? Solely based in HIS words and written "testimony"...

The church is giving Paul such state of holiness as the RCC gave their saints.

The law stated that it was needed to avail things by the WORD of two or three people... Paul also knew it!

I used the word "lifted" for lack of a better word. No, I do not KNOW anything except whatever the Lord reveals to me. And I know that God can do and does anything He wants to do. I know the Lord God fell on me in a weight of glory and I was only aware of His "mindset" (for lack of a better word). The Lord revealed Himself to me in visions of various aspects or measure. I know God IS, and is more real than anything else I know.

And secularhermit, if you start morphing this thread into a typical BDF thread, I'm just gonna cry. :(
