Well, I really didn't see tongues in this video. I saw people jerking, falling out [slain in the spirit], "holy laughter", etc. I also disagree with this and have stated that previously.

As I said, I didn't see improper usage of tongues in this video. I do believe in the manifestation of tongues and I do believe that it should be done decently and in order.
Well perhaps you wouldn't mind posting a video of this tongue speaking so we could see what you are talking about then?......

Red herring alert. I am not the one who needs to fear. If you were to discern the spirits you would arrive at a different conclusion than the one you currently hold.

Paul did tell them that the tongues gift would cease. Simple reading is best.

So although the manifestation of tongues, prophesy, manifestation of word of knowledge are done away, we can utilize the manifestation of discerning of spirits?

Yes simple reading is the best . . . it's as I have said before how do we see scripture face to face? Do we know and understand everything in scripture as we are known? Do we see everything clearly now? From the evidence seen on this forum and the many different threads . . . I don't think so.

Amen, and i hear you brother Phil,
it would be interesting to hear their personal testimony of how they received the Holy Spirit? Don't tell me,....... they went to a Charismatic church, someone placed their hands on their head babbled in tongues they didn't understand and all the sudden they received the Holy Spirit? .......lol.

Also i wonder if they can tell the difference between a counterfeit 100 bill and a fake?
I received the gift of holy spirit just the same as every believer - when I was born again. I did attend a charismatic church and I did want to speak in tongues . . . I stood in line with others . . . I watched people speak in tongues, I watched people "slain in the spirit", I watched people run up and down the aisles . . . I prayed and asked God to JUST give me the gift of speaking in tongues [yes, at that time I thought it was a gift - not knowing that it was a "manifestation" of the gift I already had - the gift of holy spirit]. When I asked God to let me speak in tongues - I also asked him to NOT LET me do anything foolish as what I saw others doing. I opened my mouth - nothing. I thought [not being taught] that God would just "possess" me and MAKE me speak.

A few years later, I started attending home fellowships. I loved the smaller groups and the teaching of the word of God. There in those meetings, people spake in tongues with interpretation - one by one and at the most by three. It was right in line with scripture that I read. I started asking and as they expounded unto me the scripture - how it is not a gift just given to a select few - that is was a manifestation of what I had received already on the inside - that God does not possess people - that it works just like any communication - your mouth, your vocal cords, your tongue - you utilize the mechanics of speech but what comes out is from God. I was alone at home, praying and seeking God and started speaking in tongues. I just broke down in tears.

I know that this will be taken and will be ridiculed in some way but this is my experience.

Is it really necessary for the verbal slaps of sarcasm and condemnation?

I do not see any problem with agreeing to disagree in the spirit of humility.

I don't know if there are any to be truthful . . . only those that ridicule seem to be prevalent, but I will see if I can find one.

Shame of it is, Vince, that so many people here don't realize they are unbelievers.
Shame of it is that people want to pull out one verse from 3 chapters to rely on.

Tongues is the same as prophecy when interpreted - He that speaketh in an tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except (unless) he interpret that the church may receive edifying.

Anyway - remember according to some - prophecy is also out of there along with tongues and word of knowledge.

Want to copy and paste that from the bible? Can't find it in mine.
1 Corinthians 13

[SUP]8*[/SUP] Love never fails. If there are prophecies, they will be brought to nothing; if tongues, they will cease; if knowledge, it will be brought to nothing.
9
9For we know partially and we prophesy partially,
10
10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.

some people believe the perfect mean bible. When bible in writing than all this gift will cease

base on what is the purpose of all that give, I believe we still need that gift now.

1 corinthians 14:4
New Living Translation
A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church.

as long as we live in the world, we need the strength

So I believe perfect on verse 10 above mean when we go to heaven.

We don't need healing gift anymore because there is no longer illness there. We always strength there.
Exactly. Is this world perfected? I don't think even the biggest gifts deniers will say that. When will perfection come? When Christ returns to rule over this world. Again, God never intended us to be sick. We will however continue to be sick until Christ comes and brings perfection to this world. In the meantime, we have the gift of healing to get us thru. And it is the same with all the gifts. Tongues is the Godly perfected singular spiritual language to come when Christ returns, made available to us today thru the Holy Spirit.

Discerning of Spirits is the supernatural ability to see or hear into the Spiritual realm. So have you seen real demons or angels Roger?

Most that hold fast to cessation doctrine claim the perfect is not Jesus Christ, but the Bible.

1 Corinthians 14:22
Thus tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is a sign not for unbelievers but for believers.
Also in 1 Corinthians 14 is this:

4Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church.

Context. Please.

Publicly state your lie. Tell us, in open forum, that God's word isn't perfect. Tell us that His word hasn't come.

God's Word is perfect. This world isn't. Which does Christ promise to bring to us?

If it's God's perfect word then Christ's work is done

If it's the perfect world God promised us, Christ's work is not done.

So which is it?

Show us your blinders...

Deny the power of the Holy Spirit all you want. I just want to be the fly on the wall when you try to explain that one to God

peaceful,

I still have strong reservations about unknown tongues; but everything you have said about them is consistent with Scripture.

I don't feel any need or desire to practice them. If the Holy Spirit ever gives them to me, I will consult Him, and Scripture, on how to use them. Meanwhile I will obey the Scriptural injunction NOT to forbid them.

I, for one, have no quarrel with you regarding them.

You're incredible. If I wasn't interested in heaven I'd say more. God's word has come. When the printing press was invented, the word spread like wildfire. Tongues are no longer needed. Tongues were for two reasons - one a show of God's power, and the other, a spread of the gospel. God's power is not in dispute, nor is his gospel. You, sir, need to change where you are and how you got there.
