So I'm going alone on a journey, backpacking. Hitch-hiking. Starting in Germany.
I will go whereever God will lead me.
I'm traveling away from society, to connect with God. I'm bringing my bible with me.
I wish i could travel with nothing, but i cant in reality. I have this so far,
2 t shirt, 2 nice shirts, 1 sweatshirts. Rain jacket, rain pants. Extra shoes. Towel. 1 Jeans, 1 sweat pants, 1 shorts. Passport, wallet. Travel documents. Some food like, raisins, snickers bar, minestrone soup. Lighter. iPod Charger. Old Nokia phone. Earplugs. Bible.
That's basically it.
Do you have any suggestions what i could bring more? Or what you think could be good?
I'm having very few money, basically just in case if I'm starving..

I will probably sleep on a bench on a park, or under a bridge, cause I dont have enough money to sleep on motels or anything.
But I dont know what God has for me. Could you pray for me please?

Ok first of all, why do you feel as though God would call you to be homeless and hungry? God wants you to be close to Him, but He does not want you wondering the streets hungry with nowhere to sleep like this.

For me it's a test. It's soul-searching.
I WANT to get away from the situation I am in right now. I want to get away from society, it's draining me.
I'm tired of greed. So I just want to experience something else.. Being homeless, trusting in God.
But also seeing God's work, the nature. Connecting with everything he created, connecting with myself, with Him.

I might be homeless. But I'll be a traveler. Look it's really hard to explain, my life.
I'm not asking you all to understand my decision, cause I am gonna do it anyway.

I understand. However, there are many camps available or mission trips you could participate in that would really benefit you rather than just walk out onto the street and be homeless. Especially since you are basically saying you are not going to take anything for food or shelter etc.
I would really recommend praying over it before you just walk out onto the street. I understand there may be a situation you want to get away from, but there are many ways to get away from it other than this.

Hey Jakob

You are going to have to neglect your health because of the food you will have to eat which is not caring for the temple of the Holy Spirit. There are plenty of Christian projects going on in poor countries, which are always looking for young people to do a stint. Why don't you put your time into better use like this?

I need to get away now.
And I know there is many camps and missions, but could i participate in them? Think about it. I have no money.
I would have to get a plane ticket AT LEAST right? Or pay money to spread God's work. It's not free.
I think alone traveling, will benefit me too. Being away from society.
Thank you for understanding.

I think this is probably just what you need.

Nothing clears your head quite like starving.
You'll be just fine in no time.

I'm quite a bit older then you, but I get this

I prefer to distance myself for a better viewpoint and I wish I could do that right now...but alas, I can't

I pray God keeps you safe on your journey and gives you wisdom in how to handle yourself

As long as you are not running from something that should be handled. Are you saved?

Other than that, I did it. I did it on Kodiak Island and it was a blast.

Get a little bit of money. Get a good pack,a good one man tent, a water purifier, a leatherman tool(With a saw), a ferrocerium rod and metal striker fire starter, a good sleeping bag, hatchet, compass, LED headlamp,a good pair of shoes and some good rope.

i had 40 pound of "trinkets" that I wish I had never brought!

I did bring a fishing pole also that came in handy!

When I did hitch hike, I had many people who offered to buy me a meal or tried to give me money. I ran into a lot of nice folks. but I mainly stayed out on my own. I did find fishermen, who brought me out to islands off the coast of Kodiak that were deserted and hiked around those. Many residents would come over to these Islands and do cookouts on the beach. So I would just hitch a ride back with them if I saw them out on the beach.

Your making me want to go back up there and do it all over again. It ranks as one of the top things I have ever done.

Those little Islands around Kodiak, were fortified in world war II and abandoned after the war. SO there were a lot of things to explore!

underground bunkers, anti aircraft guns still up on the tops of hills(Barrels were blown up), the old barracks, watch towers and many other very neat things to explore.

I wiggled into one underground bunker, and it must of been command center or something it was HUGE. three levels, all concrete and on the lowest level, the radio room was still set up with all the switch boards, and tables!

There's plenty of room at the hotel california apparently?, such a lovely place, might wanna check that out on your road trip?, might not wanna check out the colitas? haha!

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway;
I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
"This could be Heaven or this could be Hell"
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (Any time of year)
You can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes bends
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain,
"Please bring me my wine"
He said, "We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine"
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
Bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
The pink champagne on ice
And she said "We are all just prisoners here, of our own device"
And in the master's chambers,
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
"Relax, " said the night man,
"We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave! "

I did this same thing when I was 19, but I was not a Christian. I hitchhiked all over BC, ended up on a beach on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Everyone was dropping out in those days, so I was not alone. But looking back, I know God had his hand on me that I was not hurt, being a young, single woman.

Have you looked into hostels? They are cheap and I think there are many in Europe. I was going to do that, but never made it to Europe.

I pray you will be safe, and God will help you on your journey. Even Elijah went and ran away and lived in a cage when he could not face Ahab and Jezebel.

Think before you post?,

As one article reports .. Hundreds of thousands of people poured into the state, hoping and expecting to find a fortune in the goldfields. But most of them never found it,a kind of false hope was written into the fabric of California from its very inception.

On which highway is the op expecting to find God?

The evidence points to purposeful design, I accept the designer, design demands a designer. But, just like most things it's the interpretations that is confusing, and please, don't say Holy Spirit will guide me, please, all christian denominations claim it.

Not really I just like the thought of riding a motorcycle across a dark desert highway with a cool wind in my hair, you know free from the concrete jungle we are all trapped in.

I met a pastor that did just that. He hitch hiked and traveled all over Europe and stayed in a lot of hostels.
