Paul said:
it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.
we both read that, right?

God plainly stated those who sin belong to the devil, those who belong to Him do not sin - you can choose to believe or deny God

Jesus told a story about certain Christians who thought they were saved

Matt7:21-23
21 ¶ Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.
Listen up, I'm going to lay something heavy on you. What is God's will? I'll give you a hint, it's not trying to please him in the flesh. That's exactly what the group was doing that were cast out. They were doing all the works that they thought was God's will, yet they had no relationship with him. Jesus didn't even know them.

Be careful now or you will end up in that group trying to please God by your sinless ways and works of righteousness. Get the relationship right first, both with Jesus and other people. From that relationship plenty of the fruits of righteousness will grow.

My position is that you don't understand the Scriptures you are posting
alright clarify this for me:

you're contesting that anyone who commits sin at all belongs to the Devil (even though the word in 1 John 3:8 means "makes a practice of")
and that Paul was still committing sin when he wrote his epistles ("in transition")

so does it or does it not follow by what you're saying that Paul belonged to the Devil while he wrote what we call scripture?

that don't seem to be the way Paul sees it.

Bibleteacher, lets start over. Nobody is pushing a life of sin. We know what sin is, and does. The point where we are born again, is for forgiveness. When covered by Jesus' blood, we are eternally forgiven. But, please don't misunderstand the consequences of sin. Do remember, that Jesus' propitiation trumps sin, as He is God.

You have convinced me that you wish to serve the devil and live a life of sin, therefore you are trying to wrench the Scriptures to imply Paul lived a life of sin, which clearly he did not. In every book Paul wrote, he spoke against sin. In fact he was inspired by God sinners are going to hell.

He also spoke of disciplining himself to live without sin. 1Cor:9:27:
27 But I chastise my body and bring it into subjection: lest perhaps, when I have preached to others, I myself should become a castaway.

In Romans Paul is speaking in third person, attempting to give understanding about why they sin.

This line of thinking is why people end up in hell, you think that you can sin and still be saved. God plainly stated sinners will not enter His Kingdom. I'm only reciting what God had said, and you need to believe God if you want to be saved

Ever heard of being "born again"? What does that do for the believer?

And I would also like to ask what denomination you are with?

Methinks there may be some here that aren't believers in Jesus, nor are they even RomanCaths, or even Americans. Methinks me earlier post what mentioned muslms and jw's may have struck a chord . That's what Me thinks, me do.:)

hey buddy, you're the one who said Paul was "in transition" - and Romans 7 is definitely in 1st person, not 3rd. check it out:

& i don't know what made you think i want to live a life of sin.
would you mind filling me in on that?

because M33 is right on -- we have a ministry of reconciliation, not of stirring up division among brothers.
i love mercy and have great need of it -- and i happen to believe every human being on earth has great need of it too - because even one sin at any time in your life is enough to condemn you. there is no salvation except through mercy, and Christ is the embodiment of God's mercy towards us.
if we love Him, we ought also to live as He did - which is definitely not "loving sin"
He called us to love mercy, and to confess our sin.
you're 100% mistaken if you think any of us are preaching licentiousness when we give glory to God for His grace.

You do realize a believer is a person who actually believes everything Jesus said?

21 years ago I set out to find the church that is mentioned more than 100 times in the NT because I knew that church would lead me to Jesus and truth. The journey wasn't difficult, I simply started reading Christian history, learn about church fathers, their huge collection of writings, and I found the church Jesus started, it was called CATHOLIC in the first century. All the religions you people know of today never existed before 1480 AD

do any of you know why Bibleteacher33 insists we have not been freed from our sins?
I know you haven't been made free, not because I'm psychic, because I know about salvation by grace, and outside the church Jesus started, there is no saving grace

the church i belong to has exactly one foundation, and no other can be laid -- and this Foundation of mine was around before the worlds were formed (that's pre 1480, even for the youngest of young-earth folk)

yeah, I know - you think the Church Jesus started is wrong and the man-made religion you follow is right - this is consistant with your love for living a life of sin
