Multiple people reportedly dead at Oregon community college

DEVELOPING -- Local authorities and media are reporting at least seven people are dead -- with reports of up to 15 -- in a shooting Thursday at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore. SWAT teams reportedly are moving building-to-building, but the Douglas County sheriff is telling Fox News that there no longer is an active threat.

Authorities told Fox News they responded to a report of a shooting Thursday at around 10:38 a.m. local time.

The incident sparked a flurry of unconfirmed reports with varying numbers of dead and injured. A Douglas County Board Assistant said preliminary reports indicated at least 15 people are dead, according to Reuters. Oregon State Police Lt. Bill Fugate tells KATU-TV at least seven are dead and 20 are injured. Authorities confirmed multiple casualties to The Associated Press and the local fire district also tweeted that there were "multiple casualties" but did not elaborate.
Cue the liberals to trot out the anti-gun rhetoric. The day they can prove the gun planned the shooting, they'll have a point. Until then, put a sock in it.

It is so sad to hear about a tragedy so close to home. I was in my writing class when the instructor got word of this and some of the staff is taking this hard because in their mind they are playing the what if scenario. Yes please be praying for everyone involved in this event.

Seriously? You turn a tragedy into politics?

Dear sweet Lord, please pour your Spirit out on that community and the affected families. Let your love and grace replace the hate and fear. In Jesus name.

Perhaps if we didn't have all these loo loo gun laws we wouldn't have so many of these tragedies.

I'm doing nothing more untoward that you will do in a couple days, am I?

I'm fully aware, you would have done it today, but my exposure of your agenda prevented you from doing so immediately. You will return to this thread with a comment like I stated liberals will make.

What purpose does it do any to bash "liberals", though? I personally don't care if you're liberal. Conservative. Whatever. Shouldn't posts be about prayers for the families and everyone affected by it? Rather than turn into another political debate? Don't we have enough of those? Having a post like the OP doesn't do any good, and it won't change anything. It's not like a politician is going to randomly come on CC, see that, and say "Boy. That poster has a good point. I think I'm going to bring this to Congress." It's ridiculous.

What in the world are you talking about? Read my last post. I'm not a "liberal" or a "conservative." So take your "agenda" of bashing "liberals" at someone that actually is one.

You do whatever trips your trigger, jsr. And know that I am convinced those who go out of their way to point out "I am neither liberal or conservative" is almost always the former.

The amazing aspect of that is, in going to such effort to deny the obvious, you bolster our opinion that it is a philosophy of which to be ashamed.

Brother, I am 24 years old. I wasn't old enough to vote for Obama's first term. His second term, I didn't vote even though I was old enough to, because I simply just didn't care at the time. So you go ahead and take your conspiracy theory about me, "liberals" or whoever else what you want to. This will be my last post to you.

None of which disqualifies you from being a liberal. And I find it intriguing that you label my opinion of you a "conspiracy." Of what? Being a liberal? Yes, very interesting.

This will be my last post to you.
That was kinda the point. Thanks.

Anyway, moving on ...

Reports from both The New York Times and from Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin say that the shooter forced everyone down on the floor, then told them to stand up individually and "state their religion." Then he opened fire.

No speculation there. Sounds ominous.

Now a 4chan post of unknown origin has surfaced with a lone post yesterday: "Don't go to school tomorrow if you are in the Northwest."

I can relate. I teach 1st grade. I still remember bringing my students in from the playground and somebody telling me about the Sandy Hook shooting. It was like I'd just been punched in the gut.

My prayers go out to the community and the families.

I'm listening to this tragic story on Fox News right now. They said the shooter was asking people what religion they were. I'm assuming their answers determined who he would shoot?

Yeah, I posted that a few posts ago. Evidently he just started shooting after a few responses, or no responses. Guess they're not sure.

Also, Fox and others are backing off the number "13" -- even though the Oregon A/G said it. Pointing out the sheriff said he couldn't give a figure right now.
