Gods word matters.
At the temptation of Jesus by Satan, his answer was not the Holy Spirit tells me get behind me satan, no he said
It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ Mat 4:4
It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’ Mat 4:7
For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ Matt 4:10
The truth that is written is real authority. God honours His word. Even Jesus quotes Gods word when dealing with Satan, He is not using his ultimate authority. Everything hinges on what is written and how this implies authority, reality.
Now if this is how Jesus understands authority, it really matters. Conscience is important :-
Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
1 Tim 4:2
So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.
Acts 24:16
My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me.
1 Cor 4:4
But again this has not even begun to enter into the discussion, because the discussion has not seriously begun, because certain people are too scared to identify the real sin within they refuse to confront.
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Jame 5:16
Now for those so much under grace sins do not matter, why are we commanded to confess our sins to each other?
Because it is not relevant and there are no such thing as a righteous person.
