In my opinion there are more holes in the theory of evolution than in my sieve.

Personally I would expect to share a considerable amount of DNA with every living thing if it is the basic building block of life. Come to that I share 50% of my DNA with a cabbage does that mean that I have a common ancestor with the cabbage growing in my garden. The more similar the animals are the more similar the DNA is going to be. If we both have DNA encoding for a particular enzyme which is found in two distinct animals then that DNA is going to be the same.

I don't think there is enough evidence to be able to say we have a common ancestor with chimps and that our evolution then branched from their.

But as others have said it is a faith and it enables people to avoid having to face the reality of God.

That settles it then we evolved from cabbages. :D
Now I know why I don't like caterpillars and other creepy crawlies.

I have a whole, totally unsubstantiated theory that in fact, humanity has "devolved," within kind.

So God created humanity perfect on the 6th day of creation. Then came the Fall and sin entered the world. Humans were exposed to all kinds of new factors such as radiation, lack of a ready food source, etc, many of which were not positive for the genome.

So gradually disease entered into the human race, including genetic illnesses caused by mutations.

The Jews were a good case for this. Abraham married his half sister, Isaac his cousin and Jacob a near relative. (Today, that would be a recipe for horrible deformities if not death of the baby!)

God doesn't judge or condemn the patriarchs for marrying near relatives.

Then in Lev 18:6-18, God forbids the marrying of close relatives. So, I think the gene pool became constricted, and God spoke to stop the transmission of genetics illnesses. Because he didn't make a rule before this point.

So gradually, more and more illnesses enter the gene pool. Until today, where you have a real genetic burden, which would have shocked Adam and Eve.

So, yes, we are still the same species. But we have gone downhill since God created us. Not uphill and become better human beings or added new organs that do amazing things!

The scientific and historical evidence clearly points to the fact that sin brought evil, including the gradual decay of the human race. This leads us to the hope we have in Jesus Christ. When he comes again, we will receive our resurrection bodies, which will be free from pain and suffering. I'm looking forward to that day!

I can kind of understand why atheists believe in evolution, since they chose
not to believe in God the only other option is evolution or Alien invasion! And there
are plenty who believe in the latter.

What I really don't understand are Christians who also believe in evolution.
They must really struggle with the verses that mankind is made in the image of
God, presumably they think God evolved as well.

I think for the Christian you really have to nail your colours to the mast and dare to
say I believe in creation. Otherwise they might as well chuck out the whole bible and
just declare themselves atheists.

I have often thought this as well. The first humans lived hundreds and hundreds of years.
Now we are lucky to live 50-60 years without feeling the effects of faulty genes, or
damage on a cellular level.

I don't think we can fully comprehend the effects of the fall this side of heaven.

I agree with you. The study of aging is caused by the mutations made when our cells replicate and don't copy the long repeat sequences at the end.

I believed God created a template of animals and they each had all the genes to code for the various diverse traits we see but are not expressed. However separation and mutation caused groups to be isolated and become separate species we have today who are no longer able to interbreed.

Like Adam and eve were the first humans. God made a pair of birds, snakes, fish, turtle, etc.

Angela your explanation makes perfect sense. It also reminds me of the laws of thermodynamics and entropy, which state the universe is heading to maximum disorder which is totally the opposite to evolution.

You misrepresent evolution if you think it is science.
No too many Christians misrepresent evolution and God by not recognizing the observable facts and making straw man statements.

Natural selection is science.

Common ancestors maybe debatable

Homologous and analogous structures are observable.

Although it's not the exact question, and not that I agree, here's what "they" say:

How come there are still monkeys? - RationalWiki
Basically again ..monkeys are just called another name...but still monkeys... They evolved but didn't really change? While we are supposed to believe that everything else changes...monkeys didn't not except for those that changed into people...but some monkeys stayed the same ..even though they evolved?? How can people be so stupid?

Ya but what isn't observable are the tremendous odds against any sort species to species "evolution". Even Darwin doubted his theory. God created.... period. And he created it all not very long ago. The Grand Canyon wasn't formed over eons. It happened over night. Evolution is a lie and attempts to cast doubt on God doing it the way he said he did.

What is more observable is how stupid evolution is. Monkeys are still monkeys ...no evidence of evolution has ever been found... no real scientist believes that nothing can blow-up and make everything....Its a religion for the ignorant ..nothing more.

Ariel82 Firstly Natural selection is not the same thing as evolution. Natural selection is the process by which the best adapted animals within a species survive or have more offspring.

Secondly you have acknowledged that common ancestors are debatable

Thirdly you state homologous and analogous structures are observable, I would expect similar structures doing the same job in different species, and does not provide evidence in support for or against evolution.

I don't think you really understand evolution. The process is something like this.

There is this round ball covered with lots of different rocks. This comment named Evol passes by every million or so years, and slaps the ball with it's tail. The early passes resulted in whipping some of the rocks into single cell creatures. The next time it passed the tail whipped some of the single cells into multi-cell creatures. This process has repeated until a few hundred thousand years ago when the tail whipped some creature into humans. Evolutionists are anxiously awaiting the next pass of Evol to see what it will whip man into.

Do you now understand the real theory of evolution?

You forgot to say that on top that...other comets crashed into this ball of death and brought exactly the right amount of water with them and then this grey ball we call the moon was put exactly the right distance away... not to mention that the earth formed in the exact right spot in relation to the sun. And that doesn't even consider the sun being the exact kind of star formed from nothing to give us warmth....and all that doesn't even scratch the surface as to the statistical impossibilities for things to be the way they are. We are here the way that God put us here and are the offspring of eight people who built a boat out of gopher wood.

If monkeys become people ...why do we still have monkeys and we don't have monkeys in the process of becoming people?

I mean if you believe millions of years ago monkeys became men...why did the evolution process stop with certain monkeys? Why do we now have monkeys..why did those monkeys not change as the other monkeys did... and if evolution is real science, why did process change some monkeys and leave other monkeys as monkeys? Why don't we see some monkeys changing to men now? Same monkeys they claim was around millions of years ago? Why does evolution only work in the imagination of some people who deny God as Creator?
I do agree with you that evolution is ridiculous, but evolutionists are quick to point out that evolution does not teach men came from monkeys....Apparently they believe monkeys and humans came from a common ancestor? I don't understand how they even "use" the scientific method to come up with this....

Its like global warming...oops, I mean global cooling....oops...I mean climate change. They just keep the waters muddy enough so they can say they are smarter than everyone else.

Evolution was made as an agenda to describe the creation of a "man", and challenge the creation of God.

Exaclty...everytime anyone studies out to prove one of their lies...they just change the terms of the lie to cloud the issue... They put ape teeth with a human skull and teach it a proof for thirty years and hide it away from any honest scientist to look at...then then that lie is exposed ..they just make up more nonsense

read your own words..they don't believe we came from monkeys but have a common ancestor (that was like a monkey) they just play games with words so people don't see how stupid what they are saying is.

You can change the name of it to whatever...but its still a monkey... and its basically the same monkey we have today.. It did not evolve...well they say it did..but it didn't "change" .....what?
