How about diagramming the original text?
How about doing a syntactical search?
How about doing a proper word study?
How about knowing the grammar of the text?

There are things in the program that require skills on the part of the person.

I do trust the Logos scholars to an extent. But thats it, I will one day know it for myself and not have to rely only on secondary sources.
Yes, Skills on how to use the program.

All those things are available in Logos.

Logos 5 made it easier, supposedly logos 6 makes it even easier..

They can teach how to do some things, yes. But they can't teach you certain skills, like how to understand the grammar of the original text..ect.

If you cant see that there are certain features in Logos that require certain skills, I am not sure there is much else I can say.

This is a stupid conversation.

I have v.5, but I find Logos way too overwhelming both in it's logistical layout and price. I am happy for most of what I can do with Olivetree...it integrates nicely and they run a lot of specials.

If you are seriously into original languages Bibleworks is the way to go.
Not as bloated, quick, and deeper language studies. It is Original Languages on steroids.

I use WordSearch bible 10. Fairly easy to use and wasn't all that bad on the price.

I used that when I had a pc. But they don't have a decent Mac version.

And I would say that logos can do pretty much anything BibleWorks can and more.

I have been using WordSearch for a while now. I can't remember how much it was now. They keep coming out with new modules all the time as I suppose all other programs do.

Perhaps..... but you'll pay twice as much to get all the modules to match BibleWorks. A shame.

I have WordSearch 9. I was able to transfer my Quickverse books to it since Wordsearch bought them out.

I first started out with Logos years ago, but gave up on it because in order to get the books you wanted, you had to buy their packaged versions with useless books & a high price tag.

You'd think the companies would charge less to get the Word out there..... but they're more business-minded than Kingdom-minded. Some are downright cutthroats, selling old books that no longer have copyrights for the same amount as those that do.
It has a 30 day money back guarantee. If you do get it and you need any help let me know.
BTW, advertising a product on CC is against the rules.:)

Do you think that these latest software's have increased are time spent in the Lord or decreased. Has it helped or hindered our meditation.
Now I am not being judgemental here but what I've found in me using a lot of software is I search for what I'm Intrested in and possibly not what the Lord wants to show me.

Just saying that in some cases it is better to turn off the puter and search for that nugget on your own with the holy spirit of course.

Interesting ad. I think I pretty much have everything described in the ad in books I have from Seminary. Plus knowing how to read Hebrew and Greek probably helps me a lot more than trying to figure out another computer program.

I also looked at their commentaries and lexicons, and I have to say mine are better. I could see some use for this, but not at $2000. I have never paid that kind of money for software. I guess my age is showing - I would rather have a good, recognized book, and actual training than relying on a program like this.

I don't know anything about ESword, but I remember a lot of the students at one seminary I attended for transfer courses recommended it quite highly. And I believe it is cheap? Correct me if I am wrong.

I guess as long as people are learning, something like this is a good thing. But once again, doing a word search in Hebrew or Greek simply does not begin to cover the complexities of grammar, syntax and cultural and genre issues.

:)

They definitely have changed the way they run the company. I get resources for a good price. They have more sales.Maybe one day you can try it again.

I may pay more, but I have better features than any other software has.
Not cut-down though. If something helps, use it for God's glory. :)

Which is why I maintain that unless you are going to seminary, Logos is waste.
