I have a few questions
1) Are all the commandments important? If they are then why is the sabbath day deemed as unimportant by the vast majority of Christians? Why does no one talk about not coveting either?
2) Should we still obey all of the commandments today?
3) Why is it in revelations the ark of the coventant which holds the ten commandments is seen in Gods throne room? If the ten commandments are part of the mosaic law where is the rest of the 600 laws?
4) why were the ten commandments set apart written by Gods own hand in stone and then put in a really pretty box?
Once we have answered 1-4 I wanna go into more detail about the ten commandments.
5) What is an idol?
6) Does the second commandment still apply today? If so how? (the second command talks about not bowing to gods made to look like Gods creation)
7) what does it really mean to covet your neighbors goods and how can we avoid it?
8) Is it really that hard to keep the ten commandments? Are they really that bad when you look at them? Please be honest here. All they are really saying is to love God, put him first, don't worship anything or anyone else, rest on saturday, don't steal, don't murder, don't covet, ect. So are those things REALLY that restricting and can they really be called the mosaic law?
That's all I have for now. Please pray before posting and keep it civil. None of these questions are sarcastic in any way. I am looking for honest answers for all of them.
Thanks.
I'll answer your questions in order.

Are all the commandments important? Yes, they are written in the entirety in scripture twice, an referenced many times.

Why is the Sabbath day deemed as unimportant? It is not deemed unimportant. The discussion today is primarily and the day and how we celebrate it. Deu 5:13 and 14a. says "Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God". For me that day has always been Sunday because my work week ends on Saturday. For others they choose Saturday for their Sabbath because they try to maintain the same day as in the days of Moses. I have no problem with that. If we take the commandment at face value, we must work six days. I think that most people today don't do that. We must also cease any work in our household. I don't think that many of us do that. Col 2:16 says "
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:". If you are comfortable with the way that you are remembering the Sabbath, and you feel that God is telling you to remember it that way, then by all means do it that way.

Why does no one talk about not coveting either? I'll leave that to you.

Should we still obey all of the commandments today? Yes. Do we need to keep a running check list? No. If we follow Jesus, and love as He love us, then there is no doubt that you will keep the commandments. Is our Salvation dependent on how well we keep them? No. John 3:16.

Why is it in revelations the ark of the coventant which holds the ten commandments is seen in Gods throne room? If the ten commandments are part of the mosaic law where is the rest of the 600 laws? IMHO and I believe supported by scripture, the Mosaic Laws are provided to tell the Israelites how to keep the commandments. Jesus replaced them wit the love commandment when he fulfilled the letter of the law as our sacrifice on the cross.

Why were the ten commandments set apart, written by Gods own hand in stone, and then put in a really pretty box? I believe that my answer to 3. answers this. The "pretty box" was to remind His people that He was and would be with them. I would ask you this. Why did God take back the "pretty box" and let His Son die a terrible death on a cross?

What is an idol? IMHO, anything that we worship other than God. I'll leave the rest to your imagination. I'm sure that we can look around where we are sitting and identify many that we may now or have in the past worshiped. See Deu 5:8-9.
I hope that I have answered your questions.
