Yeah, there's no way we can ever work for it, as in try to earn it. That part is a done deal. It's a gift. Hold on to it. Don't let the evil one steal it through deceit.

Satan can't steal our salvation - if that's what you meant.

salvation means literally rescued.

How can you be called rescued, if your not yet out of danger? You may have been given first aid, but your not rescued yet.

How can you be saved, if your not really saved.

Sort of makes our hope a false hope. who can have faith in that?
Are we out of danger yet?

In your patient endurance you will acquire your souls. Luke 21:19

Luke 21:19-21 (NASB)
[SUP]19 [/SUP] "By your endurance you will gain your lives. ( soul and life are the same greek word here )
[SUP]20 [/SUP] "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then recognize that her desolation is near.
[SUP]21 [/SUP] "Then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains, and those who are in the midst of the city must leave, and those who are in the country must not enter the city;

It is talking about not losing your life when the armies come to Jerusalem....context is king!

That could be true in this case, but I'm certain I can find other verses that say essentially the same thing pertaining to eternal life.

Your right we have received the spirit of adoption, but only those who endure until the end will be a son.

This is the scripture for that the evil one cannot touch us....we can deceive ourselves by listening to his lies but that does not affect our inner man..our spirit where Christ dwells..

1 John 5:18 (NASB)
[SUP]18 [/SUP] We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

He may deceive some to never seek it, but once we are saved, Satan cannot touch our salvation. By theft or deception.

All life is given by God, and God takes all life. No one dies apart from His will. He is the one who appoints our time on earth.

I really don't see a theological problem with this.

Even Satan can only do as God allows.

God has given man free will in these matters and due to our free will and many wrong choices in following after the lie., many people have died. The Bible clearly states that it is satan who comes to kill steal and destroy., he has certainly stolen and he sure has destroyed., and for sure many have died because of him. We are instructed to pray for a reason. We are instructed to fight the good fight. It is not God's will that any should perish but men WILL perish because men will chose sin over Jesus.

It is very important for us to not lay blame to God for what the devil is doing. Sickness and death are part of the curse. Jesus has defeated those things but many believers still say that God is causing sickness and death. Then the enemy has the Christian just where he wants us., to not fight something bad because we have falsely believed the lie that God sent death and sickness and confusion.

God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. It is our job to claim those things by faith and walk them out. To know what the promises of God are to the saints and to live them out by faith. Again., don't attribute to God what satan is doing on earth.

God is not the author of confusion.,satan is., It is a major confusion that says evil is good and good is evil. Sickness and death are not good., we must pray against those things while we are here., and do it by faith.

There is a major Biblical problem with attributing death and sickness as coming from God. Jesus said He came to give life and to give it more abundantly. If you have seen Jesus you have seen the Father.

It's the next verse that makes sense out of the Phil 2:12..fear and trembling...you will find when you do a study on "fear and trembling"..it is in response to the goodness of Jesus....like the woman with the issue of blood..she came back to Jesus with fear and trembling..knowing what had happened to her....it's the awe and respect of the goodness of God exhibited in our life..

It is God in us that is at work in us both to will and to do His good pleasure....

Philippians 2:12-13 (NASB)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;
[SUP]13 [/SUP] for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

Isn't it a blessing to find out just below a verse is the context and that is often and many times true.., as you said context is king., (I always thought it was 'context is key' But both make sense.

I do believe God will call people home sometimes, Also known as the sin unto death, Weather it be God removing his protection and letting nature do its thing or whatever, God does call people home..

I do not believe God kills his children though, I agree..

Yes., I've seen and heard that some people are just wanting to go home., Like Paul said he ran the race he finished the course.. But I fully believe in my own heart that God's will is life and many of us don't know that and do go home before our time. And I also admit I don't know all there is to know about this subject but I do know that God is not the author of death but of life. And when such things come to my attention (and they do all the time at work) that is how I handle it.

so you do not have eternal life? Your still trying to earn it by enduring?

Why do you have the name eternal life if you do not even believe in it? I am confused.

Well, that gave me major laugh and if it wasn't rude I would have laughed out loud in BIG bold letters. This means I've been on the computer tooooo long. Some dry humor is just at the right moment and zappo it hits!! Thanks EG you are totally obvious and that is probably why I like you so much brother!!!! We can disagree on issues but our foundation in Christ is solid. Blessings!

True. But Satan takes no life that God doesn't allow. Can Satan do a single thing without God's permission?

There is a major Biblical problem with attributing death and sickness as coming from God.
"The LORD kills, and makes alive: he brings down to the grave, and brings up." (1 Samuel 2:6)

"For he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but his hands also heal." (Job 5:18)

"
See now that I myself am he! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand." (Dueteronemy 32:39)

God sent the Angel of Death many times. To the Jews in the Desert, to Egypt, and to kill many of Israel's enemies.

In Revelation 19: 15-18, Jesus comes back and kills those aligned against Him, and then has the birds feast on their dead bodies.

Again, life is God's to give, and to take. That fact doesn't make Him any less loving, or righteous.

Revelation 19:15 (NASB)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.

Strike down

I suppose that one could read into it that they are killed?..not sure...we do know that their armies are destroyed for sure...:)
