He certainly did. He probably spent close to a full minute telling everyone what they should be praying about in their spirits. Go listen again.
I did listen to the video and he clearly said he did not know what to pray for, that is not outlining what was prayed for in tongues.

It also does not excuse the misuse of the gift that was done !!!

LOL..too many things happening here...lol..kenneth if tongues is a concern for you...go start a thread on it...we would be happy to bring our bibles and chat....
Tongue's doesn't concern me because I believe the gift still is giving, what concerns me is when a person is blatantly doing it in a improper manner according to God's word and then 2 people defending this misuse !!!

1 Corinthians 14:2 (NASB)
[SUP]2 [/SUP] For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries.

1 Corinthians 14:14 (NASB)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.

I do also believe that one could pray with their mind if it came from their spirit too...but tongues is without a doubt praying from one's spirit within them..
So God can not talk in English? And you still ignored the interpretor. The only time an interpretor is not required is in the privacy of our own place..

God is not an author of confusion. My aunt walked away from God because of Pentecostal, church of god foolishness. I can only pray she was saved before she died, Sadly I will never know

(in case people wonder why I say this, SHe was distressed she could not speak in tounges. so she spent weeks trying to sound like she spoke in tongues and finally got the courage to do what she had practiced. and the pastor interpreted what she said.

If God wants to use that gift, there is a time and place. and I do not think it is the way they are used today in most churches that use them.

Context is key when understanding the instructions to the church of Corinth. Many don't understand the concept of context though and rip a nice looking verse right out to support their position.

Off hand, "his (the pope's) quest comes to mind."

And he did not tell anyone to speak in tongues. I imagine some there simply spoke in English.... or maybe didn't even verbally say a thing out loud.

1. You add water baptism to the gospel along with other works.
2. You state one can have works and still not be saved at the end of his life (salvation can be lost) .

Again, You say a lot of the right things, but like many false gospels. you have to add a little work here and there, to make the gospel not a gospel of faith in Christ and his work. but a mix of Christ's works and our work.
1) I keep my stance on baptism in Christ name, which is done by immersing one in water because our Lord Jesus Christ commanded it.

I don't see how anybody who loves and believes in the Lord would deny to keep this command !!!

2) I have never said one can have works and still not be saved...........

What I said and always said is that of what the Word of God says, that salvation is only to those who abide in Christ (faith in Him). Outside that faith in Christ there is no salvation, therefor if one departs from the faith there is no longer that assurance of salvation !!!

The Word of God clearly states that many will depart and not continue in the faith in Jesus !!!

This is not a lie or hypothetical, it is stated in a number of places from Jesus to Jude..........

I add the works because Jesus said we will know them by their fruit (works), it is only now day false doctrines that say we can not tell !!!

yes..there are always going to be excesses in every church and some have used tongues as a superiority card....and I heard a psychiatrist say most christians in mental institutions think that they have blasphemed the Holy Spirit because of wrong teaching in the "lose your salvation type churches".......it's sad really...that doctrine causes all kinds of insecurity and is open season for the enemy to deceive them..

Pentecostal preacher that faked tongues and openly exposed others in the "industry" that were doing the same. He released a documentary and admitted he faked it for the money. Was really popular at one time. Here is a snippet from his documentary:

[video=youtube;1-C3trU9ljw]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-C3trU9ljw[/video]

Curious how those who claim to interpret never call these people out. I could go to any tongues speaking church today and fake it and they would welcome me with open arms. I bet some would even interpret for me

Did you catch...and speak to himself and God...there is a sound with doing that..so the "Silent" part must be viewed with all the other scriptures..namely to do with the interruption of a service..taking one scripture out of it's setting causes all kinds of different conclusion..

Do you speak in tongues to your Father in private?
Nope I wasn't given that gift, my pastor does though (as far as praying in tongues to his Father in private). I can make myself sound like the "tongues" Copeland used in this, but I don't need or feel the Holy Spirit is causing it and while I don't think "gifts have ceased" completely, I do not think the bibble babble in front of people to exult yourself is biblical tongues anyway.

These verses are VERY clear, and the tongues of Acts were KNOWN languages, very clearly. What is the point of this gibberish in front of people other than to show off for them? If you truly feel it's your "prayer language", then why would you pray in it other than alone between you and God? You have to completely ignore these verses, or warp them beyond recognition to make them mean anything other than what they clearly say. I'm not understanding your point or argument here? Are we to only accept verses you approve of? Or only accept them the way you understand? You guys do a lot of talking about "keeping your nose in your own business", and "not judging any Christian ever for anything", yet sure do have a problem with our views, and seem to judge and condemn them quite often. See how quickly your views cave in on themselves?

This looks a sweeping statement against all non-tongues speakers. For sure,
how can you know for sure that all who do not speak in tongues are against it?

It seems to me because Kenneth Copeland the apostate he must be filled with the Holy Spirit because he talks in tongues.
I have heared enough blasphemy from him to say he really does not know what he is talking about.

Anyone can babble if they want, the issue is, is it really from the Lord or from themselves.
There are enough ex-Charismatics who can speak in tongues to say babbling does not prove anything except for the believer doing it.

But this is a wonder of the modern age. Do not call out apostate heretics in case you are blaspheming the Holy Spirit.
For some reason there is no reticence saying I am demon possessed, so why any hesitancy over Copeland?
How bad does someone need to go? People singing choruses etc can still commit suicide as in Jim Jones.

But hey, if the deception is this deep, how can you know if it is real? Because love and integrity are paramount in the believers lives and there fruit honours the Lord and His people. It cannot be simpler. But it is like a wave of paralysis over these basic realities.

This is just another straw-man to pretty much avoid the true issue, and that is the bible gives a clear teaching by Paul on how the gift of tongue's is to be done.

Yet we are to believe that a leader or preacher of the church can override that, which in turn falls under the adding or taking away from the Word of God.

God gives clear warning not to do this 3 times in the bible !!!

I am personally against the charade we see today. I think we define tongues as per Acts 2. Clearly known human languages miraculously learned or understood. The "Spirit language" and "angelic language" thing is verses whose context has been mangled.

There has been excesses in every church...because there are people in them...lol

The real reason all these weird things are being brought up by these guys on the internet is for this reason....let's show everyone the weird ones....so that will throw any other teachings being given in a bad light...

..the spirit driving this is against the gospel of the grace of Christ.....the spirit of religion will always be against the Spirit of Grace.

It is the nature of the beast.

Paul even talks about how those that live from the works of self-effort and the flesh will attack those that are living and preaching from the promise....the Spirit of grace.

Galatians 4:28-29 (NASB)
[SUP]28 [/SUP] And you brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise.
[SUP]29 [/SUP] But as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now also.

I am saying that all the scriptures on speaking in tongues need to be taken in context.....and you can't make yourself speak in tongues like Copeland..that's a crock..lol...you are simply unlearned in this area..and all of us are unlearned in many areas..that's why we need each other..

Below Paul is saying that there are believers unlearned in tongues and it will seem like a bunch of gibberish to them..as well as the unbelievers.....which is why Paul said..will they not think you are mad..imagine a bunch of people during a whole time together just talking in tongues constantly..lol..it would be chaos for sure...

1 Corinthians 14:23 (KJV)
[SUP]23 [/SUP] If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?

Which is why he said it is to be done in silent if there is no interpreter !!!

Copeland in that video clearly defied this rule.................................
