Dogs behave according to their owners. I've met some people that could learn form being chained ....

This question "popped into my head" a short time ago, and I thought it might make a worthwhile thread... :D

Your - serious - or - humorous - thoughts?

:)

No one truly cares if a cat runs away.

That's why.

Interesting question let's see....

Cats don't chase car
Cats don't eat the postman
Cats don't go around sniffing crotches
Cats don't go rolling in the smelliest stuff they can find and trail it everywhere

incidentally I prefer dogs to cats it's just that all the above was behaviour
seen in the dog I had several years ago. He was a big hairy bundle of fun
but he hated postmen. :D

Can I ask another question - why do we have to scoop the poop
for dogs. But horses can leave piles of the stuff all over the road?

Horses have extremely inefficient digestive systems, and 80-85% of their droppings are nothing more than masticated vegetable matter that passed through their stomach and gut undigested. That's why it's such good fertilizer.

Carnivore vs. Herbivore. The carnivore/omnivore will always have the worse smelling dooky.

This post made me think of this song:

If dogs run free, then why not we
Across the swooping plain?
My ears hear a symphony
Of two mules, trains and rain.
The best is always yet to come,
That's what they explain to me.
Just do your thing, you'll be king,
If dogs run free.

If dogs run free, why not me
Across the swamp of time?
My mind weaves a symphony
And tapestry of rhyme.
Oh, winds which rush my tale to thee
So it may flow and be,
To each his own, it's all unknown,
If dogs run free.

If dogs run free, then what must be,
Must be, and that is all.
True love can make a blade of grass
Stand up straight and tall.
In harmony with the cosmic sea,
True love needs no company,
It can cure the soul, it can make it whole,
If dogs run free.

Yeah, but if you see a cat on the street, he ignores you. Cats are always the most important ones walking... at least in their minds. What others do only occupy their minds if feeding them is part of the action. lol
Conceited little beasts lol. Cows are actually worse. Cats at least PRETEND to like you...sometimes; or does that me cats are worse, adding deceit to the whole thing? Oh never mind, we weren't talking about cows anyway.

My point is dogs are more easy to control, (if only people would!) They obey you, they're hardwired that way. Cats? cats are more likely to take one look at you as you shake your head severely at them, and say, "watch me." Make 'em worse animals? Not necessarily, just shows the diversity of God's creation.

My thought: I'm trying to remember the last time I saw a person walking a cat...

Another thought: I'm trying to think of a time I saw someone leashing his/her cat to go out to the bathroom.

Ah...yeah, you probably have something. REALLY well trained dogs don't need to be trained, but that takes a consistent and persevering owner.

People are afraid of cats and, therefore, don't dare chain them. No one even has the courage to pass such a law, fearing the cats' revenge. I wouldn't even be saying this, but my cat is sleeping in the other room and can't see what I am typing.

Cats shouldn't run free either. They are the no. 1 killer of birds, including rare and endangered ones.

Cats can pretty much take care of themselves. If they run away chances are they'll come back.

I'm more of cat person by the way, but I don't mind dogs.

Dogs attack all the time with no provocation... a buddy of mine had a German Shepherd jump out of the back of a truck and into his car thru the passenger window. .....he punched the dog in the face until it finally backed off.

You paint dogs with a mighty big paint brush. We get it that you don't like dogs. No need to evangelize your viewpoint on the matter.

I was riding my motorcycle down the street when a large German Shepherd charged me from behind a fence. I gassed it and got away, the dog went back to it's fence. I turned around and came back down the street slowly, until the dog charged again. As he crossed the curb I aimed straight at him and gassed it. I've never seen a dog stop, turn, and run home so fast! Bet he never chased a bike again.
