The struggle is real tonight! I've barely done any work OR play, because I've just been fighting for consciousness (even with UBERMonster Energy coursing through my veins...)...

I'm on a roadtrip to attend a friend's wedding. Yesterday was the wedding and we were all hosted by the bride's family. Tomorrow will be the reception at the groom's place.

Indian weddings are sooooooooo expensive!!!!!!!!! I'll share the pictures after my return. ;)

boss and i were talking about weddings the other day (because he saw the bridal magazine on my desk lol), and he mentioned the average cost of a wedding today is around $30,000. i was like what the heck!

i remember years ago, i was helping my friends prepare their wedding decorations (and by helping, i was cutting ribbon because i can't be trusted with anything else lol), and they kept ranting about stress. "we should've just eloped!" i said, "IF i get married, it's gonna be a BBQ in a backyard!" they said, "you do that, melita! if that's what you want! we'll be there!!!" lol

God definitely DOES give you more than you can handle to see if you will go to Him for help

Sometimes I think people stay in defense mode without even thinking about it. It helps to call that to their attention.

"I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just adding to what you are saying."

Or even... "You seem a little defensive, is everything okay?"

They will hopefully go home and think to themselves... gee... maybe I do get too defensive.
If someone said "You seem a little defensive, is everything okay?" to me, that would put me on the defensive, and annoy me. I might even go so far as to say it would make me grumpy.
Similarly to how someone telling me to "calm down" works. When people say that, I usually think "I AM calm!"
Of course it depends on whether or not I feel that their statement was focused on the "You are a little defensive" vs. "is everything okay?"

I'm not sure why, but one of the hardest things for me, is when people comment on, or try to alter my attitude.

$30,000 woud be how much the food+dinner+alcohol costs for the reception alone. The diamond-studded dress would be a few thousands, then the 100's of sovereigns of gold ornaments would be another few thousands and then the cost of hosting family members and close friends. I am sure my friend's wedding would have cost upwards of $100,000. :/

Sounds like the merchandisers did with weddings in your country what they did with Valentine's Day in our country.

QUESTION FOR ANY AND ALL:

Have you ever known people who always assume you are arguing with them? No matter what you say, no matter how carefully you phrase it, their default conversation mode is argument - how do you deal with those people? Cause I could really use some help with this.

I tend not to spend time with that person anymore. She twists thing's and it is awkward. If it's someone you work with, I'd keep conversation minimal.

I don't know. I sort of have the problem in reverse with my dad. Every day he makes some comment about something I do or how I do it, making it sound like criticism, but he keeps claiming it isn't. (Like, he'll comment that my sweater is lying on the sofa, and fail to see that his camera has been on the table for a week).

You seem a little defensive...

Nobody knows? Did she retire? Do we hang her jersey in the rafters now
I guess she felt as though she was spending too much time here. Hoping to see her again.

Yes, Abing said she felt CC was starting to take up too much of her time and she wanted to focus on other endeavors...

Hi folks!

It's been a while since I've spent much time here, let alone posted something...I'm not gonna catch up on three weeks of "Streams" though. Too much to catch up on.

Just wanna share a pic from my latest gig. Among other works, we did John William's "Star Wars" suite. R2D2 showed up! He let me take a pic with him...

I'm not sure what happened to Abing, but she seems like she's doing well on Facebook.
Funny, I hardly ever get on Facebook... I much prefer here on CC... Facebook is a whole nother kind of drama for me... Can't handle that. Lol I've actually considered deleting my account. But I've got soooo much stuff on there that I'm like... "Nah.. Too much work" lol
