The route this country is heading we may have no other choice...or attend a "government approved" church.
After how my mother's congregation treated her in December when she broke her foot. Well, I should say how they DIDNT treat her I am more open to home church than anything.

Not one person from her church even called her. Didn't send a card, no visits. Nothing. Then preacher never even acknowledged her illness and there are only like 60 people in that congregation. She was very hurt and looking for another church home

That's when the church will go underground or in Texas...get the guns out...:)

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition. Everyone put your weapon into condition one and join me in singing Amazing Grace.

Yeah, I could see it working. Where do I join?

I missed a few weeks around Christmas due to illness and my pastor's wife phoned me, even the pastor had a word with me after I started back, saying how it just wasn't the same without me being there, people do notice when someone is missing for whatever reason... now I do not know everyone in my congregation but those that I do know I would certainly notice if they were gone for more than a week or two, and some even miss...

But I had a friend who was in your situation, also, her mom was getting very elderly and needed a lot of help, but nothing was forthcoming from the church she, the mom, had attended for multiple decades, no phone calls, no outreach, no care and no concern shown. My friend was bitterly disappointed.

I'm having sinful thoughts of gluttony dreaming about all that seafood from the Gulf you have easy access to. Mmmm-hmmm.

Rosharon... I haven't been down to the coast in about 15 years.... I need to do that...preferably around shrimping time.

I'm in the metroplex, just north of Dallas, in Allen. Born in Clifton, lived in Lubbock for 42yrs, then moved here about 19yrs ago.
Texan through and through...

Magenta.... McAllen is just barely still Texas... that's WAY down there...lol

I'm overloaded here in Iowa with an abundance of beef and pork products. I needs me some oysters, crayfish, crab, fresh snapper, grouper. I'm plumb tired of fish sticks and "farm raised" fish from Vietnam from the frozen section of the grocery store.

I did just put in an order for 6# of lamb riblets though, so I have that going for me, which is nice. LOL

She lived on Grand Cayman for five years, so I guess she has learned to like it hot... compared to shoveling snow in southern Ontario, life's pretty good :) I visited her for a month while she was on the Caribbean Island, but have never been to TX :(

Well, you should come on down! I have a couple of friends that live in Calgary, and one of them was just down for a visit a couple of weeks back. His mom now lives in Plano, which is where I work. I keep thinking I need to take a week off and ride the bike up there to visit.
