All I can say is, atheists, whether they believe in Evolution or not, are not married to the theory or clinging to it in a desperate death grip. They can see that Christians who advocate for Creationism or Intelligent Design (it doesn't matter which idea) cannot let go of it - not even a little bit - without their whole faith and doctrine crashing down around them.
We always like to think that the parable of the wise man building his house on a rock is the Christian who has a literal belief in the word and God; and the fool as the nonbelievers. I think the fool describes the mentally rigid man who build his entire faith system on one idea and when it is placed into question, scrambles to stop the cards from falling.
Atheists simply love to poke at these houses of cards and watch them sway and collapse.
The key to solid faith and mental health is:
Emotional regulation
The ability to suspend your disbelief
Flexibility - cognitive, emotional, and behavioral
Increasing your tolerance for feeling negative emotions
Determining your responsibilities from others
