PATRIOTISM IS BIBLICAL, But Is It Dying In AMERICA?

I went past the monument to Civil War veterans in down town St Paul today and there were numerous flags put there by volunteers. Numerous others flags were put on Summit Avenue nearby.


You should be ashamed of yourself for putting down patriotic fervor in the USA.

AND MULTITUDES that would not bother to volunteer to put out flags in the cemetery for Memorial Day. Sure there still are a few, but in the old days, when I was growing up, there was NEVER a shortage of Volunteers. THAT IS THE POINT I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO MAKE. NOW it is the few, while when I was a kid Patriotism was shown by almost everyone.

I APPLAUD THE FEW, but I am disappointed in the rest.

Freedom is a dream.

A dream that we share with people throughout history and our world today,

It's not just a dream of the people of the United States,

It' s a dream that most people share,

But there are people who have fought against the dream of perfect freedom.

History shows us kings, governments, and religions, who have warred against perfect liberty.

Self centered bullies who use force instead of reason.

Even people at the top the U.S. government have not been very good examples of leaders towards the dream.(Nixon, etc)

We place our hope in the people that we elect.

So many disappointments.

So many lairs and deceivers.

Who can we trust?

I can't trust a person or a government to be perfect,

But I believe in the dream of perfect liberty.

The people who are fighting against liberty are loud and causing confusion.

Money, power, pride, the old enemies are still here.

They are trying to hide the dream, and distort the image for their own gain.

That is at least part of the problem.

A passage came to my mind recently regarding the saluting of flags and saying the pledge of allegiance before a flag.

The Lord also told them not to make a covenant with other nations, nor worship their gods.

Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.

One could view a "pledge of allegiance" as making a "covenant" with another nation as well.

But in my post it showed the king of Babylon was to have people "cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace." LOL

Are you even listening to what I am talking about?

You are so fixed on what you think I was talking about,
that you do not even realize that you MISSED THE ENTIRE POINT.

I am not talking about the government, the politicians, nor the laws they pass.

I am only talking the attitude of the majority of Americans, but it ALSO applies any Country, in this day and age.

The over all attitude of the majority of Citizens is less patriotic (Honoring the FLAG, and the Veterans it represents) than when I grew up. Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, and THIS NEVER WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHEN I GREW UP, EVERYONE WOULD HAVE AUTOMATICALLY STOOD AND PLACED THEIR HAND OVER THEIR HEART WHILE THE FLAG PASSED BY.

Though I believe your intent is good, you are terribly mistaken. Contrary to your misguided views, there is absolutely no shortage of volunteers who donated flags and time in grooming the graves of our fallen heroes. NONE whatsoever.

By the way, I have two USA flags in my apartment (and one from my cultural heritage which is Puerto Rico), I wear a bandana USA flag, a USA skull cap, a vest with the USA flag, my portable beach chair which I used when attending sporting events has a USA flag theme, and I helped put up our building's large USA flag.

Good for you, but HOW DO YOU explain the ever increasing disrespect for the FLAG we Veterans served under, over the past couple decades. Do your own search, it is ALL OVER YOUTUBE. And now the utter disrespect comes from the TEA PARTY, and I absolutely take the Tea Party's turning the flag upside down as a political statment, to be a slap in the face of every Veteran that served under that FLAG.

I agree that patriotism is falling, the American home is falling and so is our schools. I see it all the time with my generation, dads not caring about their kids our what America had once stood for. all I'm saying is to say that an entire nation and its leaders never followed God because of their sins is foolish. That's like saying you don't follow him because you have sinned in your life. And last I checked we are no longer discrimating as a nation any more any way.
