I always get in trouble with some of my friends here, because I say that the 10 Commandments are still applicable to the Church today.
I do not see them as part of the Levitical Laws that Grace freed us from being under. And, yes, IF we keep the Two Greatest that Jesus mentioned, we will be keeping all of the Ten. However, there is nothing wrong with being specific about what certain human acts are covered by the Two Greatest.
Jesus gave quite a "detailed" list of things in His Sermon on the Mount we refer to as the "Beatitudes." He COULD HAVE said, "Keep the two greatest Commandments" I have given you......go in peace." But He did not.
There are many other examples of "specific" things/acts/beliefs that are spelled out in detail in Scripture, that ARE covered by our keeping the Two Greatest, yet the Holy Spirit, and the Apostles/Authors of Scripture thought it important to SPELL THEM OUT! So do I, and so does my church, and we teach such gladly.
[yes, I'll be called that dreaded word again............"LEGALIST".........oh well]
God is so very Good.
