If we look at Romans 7, Paul has held captive by sin because He was trying to keep law, and when the law came I died, who shall deliver me from this body of sin? I thank My Lord Jesus Christ. When Paul looked to the law, He became bound by sin for the law was designed to expose sin and provided no remedy. Then Paul realized that He himself could not keep the morals of God on his own. He needed the help of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said "I will send the helper(Paraclete)". Paul gave us and God gave to Him the revelation, that only if our faith is placed in the work of the cross. Then the Holy Spirit will work in us and through us to produce good fruit. If are faith is jilted some how to something else, such as prayer clothes or keeping Sabbath or not eating pork or blowing the shofar or a 21 day Daniel fast or whatever the church comes up with, the Holy Spirit will not and cannot help us. Eat your sader and keep the feast of Passover, it will do no good. We must have our faith exclusivily in the work of the Cross for the Holy Spirit to act on our behalf. The cross is the only thing that the Father will accept.

Have been thinking about a post by lynn earlier. And then something also in G777's last post.

I have never liked the word "adopted" to speak of us who belong to God now.
Because an adopted child who has been in and out of different homes, who the world has pushed around and hurt, has the fearful thought that if they do something wrong or make a mistake, they will be rejected again and sent out of the family.

This seems to me like some of us, with God.

I know - the meaning of the word "adopted" is changed in our western society to what it actually meant in the 1st century culture. The word "adopted" actually means " coming to full rights as a child" or "the placing of a son" - similar to a Jewish bar mitzvah.

Adoption has nothing to do with our modern sense of the word.

There are 3 laws in the NT. The law of the Spirit, the law of Christ, and the law of sin. Those who can understand and willing to study and hear the Word of God will know and understand. Yes Grace abounds, but these 3 laws are of God and from God to the NT church.

hmmmm

and yet, Christ has become the GRACE of God and the law of sin is not used to judge believers anymore

the only ones judging other believers under the law of sin are OTHER believers who misapply the word and USE it AGAINST other believers...

the following needs to be addressed because it is so far removed from what scripture actually states, it cannot be left as though it were somehow helpful to anyone here:

After looking at what Paul says, we need to all have the same mindset as Jesus
Christ.

the Bible says to renew our mind. we renew our mind with the word of God. thoughts flow in and out of our minds all day long. some are our own, some are the thoughts of others and some are 'planted' in our minds and we need to refuse them

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

it is clear from the above verse, that we prove the will of God by HIS OWN WORD when we renew our minds. renewing our minds has absolutely NOTHING to do with improving our minds. renewing our minds means to have a new way of thinking and therefore, pleasing God in our thoughts. we all know, or should know, that actions begin in the mind. when you think about something, when you need to make a decision, you don't count your fingers or look out the window. you THINK about it and then act.

when you have, and we are all in the PROCESS of it, renewed your mind, your desire is to please God. you cannot please God apart from knowing what His will is and you can only know His will by what He reveals to us. to know His will, is to know His word. then and only then, can you make informed and intelligent decisions according to the will of God.

Some are striving for unity of the Spirit without unity of the mind. This will not work.

this is utter nonsense. the Bible says the EXACT OPPOSITE!!!! the ONLY agent that creates unity within the Body of Christ is the Holy Spirit.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; Ephesians 4:4

14For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,

15by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace,
16
and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.

17He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.

18For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.Ephesians 2:14-18

The Holy Spirit unites believers. HE, is the ONE we have in common. With the tremendous variety of personalities and backgrounds of human beings, to state we become one with our thoughts is absolutely ludicrous and shows no understanding of scripture and is, in fact, a VERY ignorant and dangerous conclusion for one to make.

The Bible says that God's thoughts are far above our thoughts

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD. Isaiah 55:8

Some people have a high degree of intelligence and education, some people have not completed high school...you cannot bring all of this variation into line with your brain...ALL are equal in God's sight...the intellectual, the slow person, the gifted person...ALL are loved by God and ONLY HE brings unity by His Spirit. Love, is the unity but not our love, God's love that will flow through believers united in Him, whose desire is to please God and magnify the Lord Jesus Christ

"we do not have a cure of sin" - sin is not a disease, it is the fruit of a lack of relationship
with God.
this boggles the mind. truly. sin is not a fruit of anything. it is the condition of mankind separated from God. Jesus has made a way for reconciliation between the individual and on a horizontal level, between believers. what utter drivel to suggest anything else. you bet there is no cure for sin! there is forgiveness and restoration for sin.

Grace is an attribute of God, but love is His nature, with holiness and purity.
Where God is present, then life flows. I cannot relate to using the word grace as a replacement
of God, the Lord is "I am" And the beginning of this relationship is the cross and repentance,
a contrite heart, a heart desiring love.

wrongo. God is HOLY in each of His attributes. You cannot separate the holiness of God and call it an attribute. God IS Holy. I'm not now going to do a study on the attributes of God, but I most assuredly have, and the above statement is hogwash.

we looked at John 1 yesterday regarding the fact that Jesus represents the grace of God. Grace is God's act of reconciliation and His Son, is the sin offering for that reconciliation

folks, we all need to study the word. let's do our best to make sure of what the word states

This post demonstrates when people have built up a view of God in their hearts and get
angry when people to do not agree with them, without realising the ideas are standing on
the Lords word.

Someone is not reading what I wrote, and is full of emotion which is blinding them.
I wrote
"Grace is an attribute of God, but love is His nature, with holiness and purity."

What I meant is God is love, God is Holy, God is pure but God has an attribute of grace.

It could have been miss-read the way I wrote it, but this is my intended meaning

I was saying I do not believe God is grace, but grace is an attribute of God.
So saying something that you actually agree with(in part) is hogwash is unfortunate.

A point is being made, as if I was saying we had to improve our minds. I said as Paul said

"In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus"
Phil 2:5

With the tremendous variety of personalities and backgrounds of human beings, to state we become one with our thoughts is absolutely ludicrous and shows no understanding of scripture and is, in fact, a VERY ignorant and dangerous conclusion for one to make.
Let us listen to scripture

Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.
2 Cor 13:11

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.
1 Peter 3:8

I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
1 Cor 1:10

this boggles the mind. truly. sin is not a fruit of anything. it is the condition of mankind separated from God.
"Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."
Jame 1:15

He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them."
Mark 7:20

"All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
Mark 7:23

"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."
John 10:27

"Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them."
John 14:23

I am not going to waste any time responding to your untrue statements this day or any other. it is your apparent joy to be able to take over a thread and engage otherwise intelligent people, with nonsense you have gleamed from who knows what book...certainly not the Bible even though you quote scripture.

I addressed the gross error of what you posted

let the reader, as you are so fond of calling us, read what your wrote, read what I wrote, haul out their Bibles and then prove what the word of the Lord is

you attack people

you have to do that, because your biblical understanding, rather lack thereof, indicates to you that anyone who disagrees with your or proves how very wrong you are, is the enemy

Peter, I will just ask that you ignore and forgive unkind words like hogwash.
Just forgive and let God know that you need help to not defend yourself when you feel attacked.
Believe me, I know how quickly my own pride can rise up and want to defend myself. But these are temptations that help us to keep going to Him for the help we need to walk the way we know He wants us to walk, with gentleness and forgiveness.

Do you know, I discovered that God purposely puts people in front of me that provoke my pride to rise up so that I can learn to keep it under with His help!! So even when someone is being unlovely to us, He is working for our good!

God is love, holy, righteous and pure, He is also gracious. All are attributes of God. His grace (unmerited love) is as much an essential part of Him as His righteousness and His purity.

That's very sad, and it breaks my heart that some little kid has to fear being put out of a family that gave him hope through adoption.
And unfortunately there are people on here that have that same abusive mindset, through the use of ignoring. It's the same mentality of rejection you speak of here, and a form of abuse and control through superiority some people use to oppress/suppress others they consider inferior, and it's especially sad to see so often in the body of Christ, but it's generally done by insecure people who are legalistic and self-righteous and often need validation from another. Watch their 'likes' and back and forth dialogue within threads, to the avoidance/ignorance of others.
I say this in light of this post to show the contrast between how some people view adoption and how God intends it. You hit the nail on the head when you said there's a fear over doing something wrong and being put out of the family, and that is disgustingly horribly wrong for so many reasons, and it breaks my heart to know and admit that I've been that kind of betrayer in the past. I can only ask forgiveness and pray God leads me as far away from ever being that type of person ever again. Not with people or even pets.

No child should ever have to live in that fear, and true brothers and sisters in Christ shouldn't either, not with each other, and not with God.
The good news is that because of Jesus we never have to.
When He adopts us as His own, He says 'You belong to me, I love you with an everlasting love and no one can take you from my hand, I will never leave you or forsake you, and nothing can separate you from me or my love for you.' THAT is the true adoption of a loving heavenly Father, who calls us His own, has not given us a spirit of fear, but of adoption, eternal adoption, where we call Him Father and Savior and King and Lord and Friend! Hallelujah, look what great love He has bestowed upon us that we should be called the children of God, adopted into His family, accepted in the beloved, purchased with the precious blood of Jesus, THAT's the beautiful adoption by our God. Though we fall and fail often, ourselves, each other, and Him, He doesn't send us away through rejection and ignoring and abandonment, but loves us as His own, and thanks to, and only because of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we are forevermore.
