1 Corinthians 12: Spiritual Gifts
1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be uninformed.2 You know that when you were pagans you were led astray to mute idols, however you were led.3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says "Jesus is accursed!" and no one can say "Jesus is Lord" except in the Holy Spirit.
4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit;5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord;6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.1 Corinthians 12: Spiritual Gifts

you would need to be in truth to use these.

18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.Galatians 5

would depend on what church you attend. etc

I don't think he is talking about that fire.
Who John?

I think he is

He (jesus) will baptize with the HS and fire, His winnowing fan is in his hand, and he is thoroughly cleaning out the threshing floor. The wheat (believer) he will put in the barn (heaven) the fire he shall barn with an unquenchable fire (hell)

I think John is telling them to wise up. Yes, He baptises with water, But Jesus which comes after, He will baptize everyone, Make sure your the wheat ad not the chaff (which John was tryign to prepair them for)

What kind of bait do you use?

And who's that guy with you?
I take it you are asking about my picture fishing.

I was trolling some sardine looking lures and the guy is the one who owned the boat in Huatulco Mexico. Great fishing...saw about 100 turtles.

Here is the place I was at when I went fishing.

Interesting enough when I was there - they had a day festival of some sort called something like - "the resurrection of the dead".

I actually was mad at myself later for not looking in the mirror when I read that verse! HAHA! I wondered if I would have seen tongues of fire like they did on each other at the moment it happened! :D
No, you wouldn't have. And hopefully you will never experience the fire he was speaking of. That section of text was never divided as we have done to it with our chapters, verses, and inserted punctuation.

Who does John go on to say is going to experience that fire in the next few verses?

Matt 3:
[SUP]7 [/SUP]But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? [SUP]8 [/SUP]Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, [SUP]9 [/SUP]and do not think to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. [SUP]10 [/SUP]And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. [SUP]11 [/SUP]I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.[SUP][b][/SUP] [SUP]12 [/SUP]His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

Winnowing fan is not used today alot. so may need to study up on it, so you can understand what John was saying, I had to.. so do not feel bad if you do..lo

Ok, we'll skip Repentance. It seems you simply have to consider it throwing ashes on your head. Be that as it may.

So, tell me about when Jesus baptized you with fire. (Luke 3:15 ff) Or, are you just moving on to something else, since that is still unclear, too?
WOW...just wow...
Until you can get your arrogance under control I'm going to ignore your posts, willie, because I'm not going to HELP you do what you are doing to yourself. So I'm not ignoring you because you've made me angry or anything. I'm ignoring them for your own good.

When you want to be a part of the conversation without arrogance, I will speak with you again. I don't know any other way to help you.

Yes, I think that is exactly what he is saying.

In matt, it was the chaff.. Namely, the people he spoke to, the pharisee, If they did not repent.

interestingly enough, this would be a good time to go back to dead works. Because the pharisee thouht the works of the law saved them, so they did not have to repent of sin.

Which is also why John was sent to teach a baptism of repentance.. To lead them to christ, who was comming, and what he would do.

So they would need to repent not only of sin, but of dead works.

No. I went to a few churches but then I fled them within one or two times. So He has taught me Himself up to now.
Sometimes God leads people to walk through a desert before He leads them to green pastures to rest and be refreshed beside still waters. Hope He surrounds you with Holy Spirit filled people that can help you grow and that you can use your spiritual gifts to bless others with.

Oh gosh sakes, no, let's not go back! Let's just pretend we went back. You can read it but it was pretty ridiculous. :(
No, of course not. Lets never consider going back and getting point #1 correct before we keep on moving on through three or four things still unclear..... I guess, so we can say we had ourselves a Bible Study.

I suppose if you don't want to hear any other explanation, you just keep on "ignoring" people...... and moving on to the next thing on your list.

This is not a wrong way to look at it. :)
There is another way to look at it too though, and it is not wrong either.
The verses that talk about Him trying us in a furnace, or in fire, to burn off impurities (slag) so that what remains is purified.
In this sense, we say that He baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire. Our walk and getting to know Him better, and the renewing of our minds is the burning off of our slag. :)

I can't help but this that all of this debating and such is pretty much beside the point. Splitting hairs over doctrine and debating, while it can be an interesting exercise, is almost meaningless IMHO (it fills time up and such. OK).

God is bigger than all the variables about our 'faith' that we contest with one another. It's about him and what he's doing with us, not us and what we think.

Just a thought. Please, continue.
