You obviously didn't see the whole video... where it shows King being partially subdued, then physically jumping on the police officers... more than once, if I recall.
The beating that was shown every 30 seconds on the MSM was simply the result of King physically attacking the police officers, and getting beat down.... and it very conveniently left out the first part, where he physically attacked the officers.
No, it's not pleasant watching someone get beat with batons, but it's also not pleasant seeing the aftermath of way too many police officers that have been jumped on, had their weapons pulled from their holsters, then shot and killed with their own weapon...... simply because they didn't have the opportunity to beat the perp down to the ground.

That was a 90 second video and you only saw the last 60 seconds. What the stations cut was Rodney swinging at the cops.
What you didn't see in Ferguson (besides none of it was on video lol) was the two thugs robbing a store owner of cigars right in front of the owner and threatening him. That one of the people who said his back was turned WAS the thug with him terrorizing the store owner moments before. That the thug killed already attacked the cops and turned around to go at them again.
What you didn't see in the Trump video was the sheer arrogant story by that reporter denouncing what Trump said happened on 9/11 in Jersey, and that the report did have his lie put in the NY paper and then had to be retracted the day after, because, honestly? They really were Muslims celebrating at the top of buildings in Jersey that day. The reporter lied. And then when Trump called him on it a decade later he pretended he couldn't remember what he wrote.
Journalist! You sure do remember when your story needs a retraction because you lied! Even a decade later. It's embarrassing and you remember being called on the carpet by your boss wondering if you'll lose your job.
So, yeah. You're really supposed to know the whole story. Not just part of a video taking out of context before you determine to believe it.
