If we are seeing the Church of Philadelphia and they had the power, would it be the Church of Philadelphia?
Well I guess that would make sense. Though I guess the obvious question is; do they got the power?

I think it's pretty simple. When Jesus told Peter "on this rock I will build my church". The "rock" he was referring too was Peter's profession of faith.

Then...along comes man and makes Peter the "rock".
Lol well he wasn't always called Peter. Seems the name means something.

Right!Hey we just agreed :) When the salt has lost its flavor it is of no use. I heard a preacher say "try rubbing salt in a wound.sometimes we have to be an irritant."
Lol time to start throwing out a lot of useless salt then.

The mainstream church no longer teaches the Word of God accurately and in depth. Thus, churches are full of baby Christians who God can not use. They are not prepared. Churches are too busy with programs that keep everyone busy and in arrogant competition with other believers in trying to show how "spiritual" they are.

I like this comment. However it begs those recurring questions.

How are they mainstream then?

For that matter how are they even Christian?

If they are actually spiritual; where is the power of the Spirit that the Bible says they should have?

Because... I already told you. The early church misinterpreted Jesus words to Peter about the "Rock" he would build His church on. Now whether Peter had anything do to with this I do not know. I tend to doubt it based on the fact the he personally saw Jesus do some really wild stuff. At any rate...His ministry was never about any one man who was the head of it. His ministry is like we established earlier. A revolutionary radical regime change in the hearts of each man. THAT.....is...... "THE ROCK" that Jesus is building His church on.

The biggest threat to the church today is fans who call themselves Christians but aren’t actually interested in following Christ. They want to be close enough to Jesus to get all the benefits, but not so close that it requires anything from them.

Fans don’t mind him doing a little touch-up work, but Jesus wants complete renovation. Fans come to Jesus thinking tune-up, but Jesus is thinking overhaul. Fans think a little makeup is fine, but Jesus is thinking makeover. Fans think a little decorating is required, but Jesus wants a complete remodel. Fans want Jesus to inspire them, but Jesus wants to interfere with their lives.

So then why did Jesus rename Simon and call him Peter?

So I guess they should be called fanclubs rather than churches? That actually kind of makes sense.

Great book. It really sheds light on what Jesus was looking for in his disciples. As we know when Jesus got serious many disciples walked away.

IDK!...maybe that little tidbit got slipped into the text. Seems a tad suspicious to me that God is gonna come down in human form...hang out with some dudes for a few years...have several of them fight over all manner of things concerning heaven and favor and prove over and over again to be pretty dense over all and then virtually everyone one of them betray him in some way and then He (Jesus) tells one of them...I came to die so you could be "the guy". Lol

Oh and that being said...isn't the catholic church just a real beacon of light? Could'nt be that their foundation is a little shaky....nah.....can't be it.
