It is often taken to be Abrahams faith being reckoned as righteousness.
Abraham was justified by works in respect to the faith of Christ that worked in Him, it provided the grace. Having the faith of Christ in respect to Abraham would be to blaspheme the name we are called by. We do not attribute Christ's faith to persons.

Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?am 2:21

See how Christ’s faith worked with his work and by that work of Christ’s, faith was made perfect/complete.The same applies to Rehab.

And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith “without works” is dead also.

It was the faith of Christ that worked in Abraham to both will and do His good pleasure as an imputed righteousness.
When I learnt imputed righteousness of Christ is an invented theological term, it settled for me another issue, that our faith is reconned as righteousness not our walk.

Now through Jesus's righteousness sacrificed on the cross we gain forgiveness of past sins, washed clean and purified, so that we can walk blamelessly before the King.
All sins, not a downpayment. He is the lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world .Any sin after that fits His righteousness. No man could be found with a righteousness of themselves.

The problem is without imputed righteousness surely one sin and we have lost salvation.
Without Christ’s righteousness of faith a person has no salvation. But if salvation or righteousness is actually founded on faith, then this is the grace covering while we resolve our sinful issues through repentance and confession.

We are saved by His work of faith ...the one source grace(unmerited favor)

Now if we do not resolve them over time, our faith will wane and finally fail and we will fall away.
Every time we deny Christ in unbelief(no faith) we have an advocate to call us back . He cannot deny he paid the wage as a free gift to a believer.

It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.2Ti 2:11

Unlike the group in Hebrews 6 that offers dead works. Every time they sin they crucify Christ over and over subjecting Him to public shame as if once was not enough to pay the eternal wage of sin. Better things accompany salvation the redemption of our souls

Now for most this is so bad and terrible, the idea of falling away it is unbelief to even say it is possible, so you definately must not know Christ
.

If he did not turn us so that we then can repent(be comforted) then a person does not know Christ.

So this is a different faith structure within the same theology, but a different take on almost everything, even involving reinterpreting what repentance actually is.
Repentance is a work of God, only believers repent after God turns us.

Your out of your mind of you think I am jealous of your working for false gospel....ABEL BY FAITH (1st on the list) offered a more excellent sacrifice (works were the result of the faith he already had)
Yes if any man has not the faith of Christ in respect to the Spirit of Christ (the Holy Spirit )then they do not belong to Him.

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. .....(Christ’s not of our own selves.)

The faith of Christ worked in Abel to both will and do the good pleasure of God . It is what the grace /favor works to do in a believer... teaching us to say no to self righteousness.

The key is favor/grace, No grace was given to Cain.

3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to theLord. 4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor.Gen4

Martin Luther introduced the invention of eternal security and the magical imputation (transfer) of righteousness. Here are some OSAS quotes from Luther joined with the concept of virtue transfere. Why? Because he and Calvin loved sin and despised freewill righteousness from heart purity..Much of his flawed theories were derived from being a student of Augustine, Aquinas, and even Plato...

"Your sin cannot cast you into hell" "No sin can harm me"
"Be a sinner and sin boldly, but believe and rejoice in Christ even more boldly for he is victorious over sin, death, and the world. As long as we are here in this world we have to sin. This life is not a dwelling place of righteousness"

"No sin will separate us from the lamb, even though we commit fornication and murder a thousand times a day."

"Whenever the devil harasses you, seek the company of men or drink more, or joke and talk nonsense, or do some other merry thing. Sometimes we must drink more, sport, recreate ourselves, and even sin a little to spite the devil, so that we leave him no place for troubling our consciences with trifles. We are conquered if we try too conscientiously not to sin at all. So when the devil says to you: do not drink, answer him: I will drink, and right freely, just because you tell me not to."

"The imputation of righteousness we need very much, because we are far from perfect. As long as we have this body, sin will dwell in our flesh. Then, too, we sometimes drive away the Holy Spirit; we fall into sin, like Peter, David, and other holy men. Nevertheless we may always take recourse to this fact, that our sins are covered, and that God will not lay them to our charge. Sin is not held against us for Christ's sake."

Luther also believed in the Reformation lie that God wills everything both good and evil..

“God effects and moves and implements all things in a necessary infallible course”
“This is the highest degree of faith-to believe that e is merciful, the very One who saves so few and damns so many. To believe that He is just, the One who is according to His own will, also makes us necessarily damnable”

righteousness is manifest in the heart of the believer by yielding to the empowerment of the Spirit (receiving grace) through the conduit of faith….the virtue of righteousness is NEVER transferred anywhere in the text…Its something that you do being under the influence of grace…

Righteousness is a gift. Romans 5:17. Get this wrong and we create a religion of our own self-righteousness and create a works-righteousness which denies the work of Christ and it is an anti-Christ belief system that denies the Lord and Master.

Christ is our righteousness. We do not create our own righteousness. My goodness how did we get the gospel of the grace of Christ so messed up with all these anti-Christ beliefs? No wonder the church is a mess - look at the nonsense and anti-Christ beliefs that are rampart in the body of Christ.

It is unbelieveable to see all the unbelief in Christ 's work on the cross and resurrection from those that profess Christ. How did these people's minds get so messed up? Religion is an enemy of the Lord Jesus Christ and works-righteousness is an enemy.

My goodness we need to send missionaries to get the "Christians" saved by preaching the gospel to them.

faith is a working dynamic manifest in deeds done in heart purity, (the manifest reality of faith) .Positional faith is zero with the rim fallen off, it has no effect upon the sinful lusts of the flesh...

This is what happens when the gospel of the grace of God in Christ's finished work is watered down to where the humanistic mindset says it is what we do or don't do that determines righteousness but God's righteousness only comes by grace through faith in Christ alone.

There are fruits of righteousness but we don't create and maintain our own self-righteousness. That is an anti-Christ belief system that denies the work of Christ. It is the belief system of Lucifer - "I will be like the Most High" - he fed this same lie to Eve and Adam - they could be like God without God.

It too had the "appearance of good" but it is trying to get life without relying on God Himself. This is what the D.I.Y self-righteousness/holiness humanistic mindset is based on at it's core. Unbelief in Christ's work on the cross and resurrection - Jesus is not enough - we need to do things to help Christ with righteousness.
Such a nice thing to say to people who don't exist..... however, those that know you know you're pointing this at everybody that doesn't believe the way you do.

My, aren't we turning it up a little, G? Constantly using the Antichrist, & now naming Lucifer himself.

I come up to 3 conclusions:

  • You're getting desperate.
  • You're actually winning (or trying to look like it.)
  • You were given a new script.

Since I'm a suspicious man, you can imagine which one I went with.:)

Who was it that despised righteous works from the beginning??? Oh yes; it was Cain, he despised his brothers works because they were righteous, and his own were evil....The workers of iniquity despise the doers of righteousness all through the bible..
Faith in Jesus infinitely outweighs works. Now who's righteous?

Righteousness is only found in Christ, and to deny that is to deny the essential truth of the gospel.

How do you read this Peter:

Rom 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Rom 4:6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

Rom 4:7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

Rom 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
Amen, As even Abraham understood it. It says he had faith (believed God) and because of his faith, Righteousness (justification) was declared on his behalf.

it was an OT thing, not just NT.

But the workers need to justify their sin, And declaring their self righteousness. SO they must demand that imputed anything is in error.

again Bible 101- Grace is empowerment of the Spirit to live righteously and godly, and the free gift of Mercy is forgiveness of past sins......However what the institutional church and her Pundits preach is the gospel in reverse, which has them coming in the kingdom, having not removed the guile, thus still in rebellion. Its a real man pleaser and billions can be made off it by fleecing the flock
Gods standard before you were saved is his standard after you are saved, His laws do not become less after than before.

You are just as guilty today as you were before you even thought of who Christ was.. Spiritually bankrupt apart from the grace of GFod.

You think you can stand in front of God based on your own righteousness. Good luck with that. You can try it.. But you will fail.

Abraham "DID THE WORKS OF FAITH" Hebrews 11-8, 17, this is what was reckoned/imputed to his account as righteousness...

Wrong, Abraham eras reckoned righteous BEFORE he did one work. You need to go back to the OT myt friend, He was reckoned righteous before all those famous works he did. He also sinned after he was reckoned righteous.. Some even grave sin. So it was not his OWN righteousness which reckoned him righteous

God forbid your faith-lacking foolishness.
Mark 10:14, Luke 12:32, John 3:16-17, Romans 10:9-10
I did not see this.. Wow.. The Old covenant was conditional and unattainable (no one could fulfill it) Thats why the New covenant was so better It did what the old was unable to do. And proved Gods unconditional love.

I think these people just want to argue. I find it hard to believe they actually believe some of the stuff they say

No one hates righteousness. Try again.

What we hate is the concept of those who fail to give Jesus His due.

Same old straw man. We hate people who want to do good works. What nonsense, If this was true we would hate each other and ourselves.

Your understandings are maligned and filled with emotional one liners also....We are to pick up our cross in obedience to the truth just as Jesus did...Flesh always argues in favor of a slothful way, thus remaining double minded wanting the best of both worlds...

Yep we are,

Not to get saved, But because we are saved, And that is how we will win others to Christ, By picking up our cross. That is how we will lean to live as Christ lived, That is how we will be blessed when the world curses us. That is how we will be sanctified.

But if your not justified. Non of that matters, You have a self righteous works that will be rejected on judgment day. You will be the ones screaming Lord Lord did I not do these great and m,ighty works in your name, Jesus will say depart. HE NEVER KNEW YOU

The false Pundits believe in positional righteousness rather than manifest righteousness. "ie" Exclusionary verses reality

Have fun dude, Your "SELF" righteousness will amount to a bunch of Dung. It's will not get you any closer to heaven than it did the Pharisee..

You must be born again, Declaired righteous "justified)
