When I was 3 years old and I lost my favorite ring, my mom took me in her arms as I cried, and I asked what must be a Christian parent's least favorite question: "will I find it again in heaven?"

Instead of explaining severely that I didn't need to think about "Stuff" in heaven and that that was a worldly thing to say, she simply told me that heaven was a place where there was no sadness, so if I needed it to be happy it would be in heaven.

Now, I don't think for a moment that that ring is going to be in heaven, but her point remains: for our earthly minds, some things seem impossible to live without. So it is ok to tell our earthly minds that "If you need it to be happy it will be there" Realizing that if it is NOT there, your mindset will also have changed. :)
I'm much bigger than Mom ever was, and because of that, she gave me an amber ring she owned when I was in second grade. (It fit, and she knew I was likely to outgrow it before I was old enough to get it. lol) Two years later, I was walking home from a friends house when I noticed the amber was gone. GONE!

I retraced my steps back and forth from friend's house. (She lived four blocks away, I used to balance on curbs back then, but not always, and the amber was about the size of a small pebble.) I couldn't find it. Mom was very upset.

I suspect there will be a shelf for each of us for "stuff we lost" for out great amusement when we go to heaven. lol

New kinds of animals! Extinct animals! Dinosaurs, maybe? Ha! Exciting possibilities.
I get to find out what a unicorn, leviathan, and behemoth look like!

AND, is there was more than one footed serpent in the garden, I get to see what a footed serpent looks like!

(Also, really want to pet a feathered dinosaur. I just do. lol)

I have always said that God made cats so we can pet lions, tigers and leopards.....
And suffer the consequences? (A friend of mine nicknamed my cat The Black Assassin. It fit and we both had the claw marks to prove it. lol)

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Do you love your parents? Is that a sin?
Does a beautiful sunrise make you feel good? Is that a sin?
Do you own a computer, or a car or anything else man- made that you use daily? Is that a sin?

i didnt read all the posts im sure this was covered but video games are false idols

ive been blessed and helped removing my desire for them

the only i still battle with is yugioh duel links

ive deleted my accounts but i went back to it a few times
used to play dozens games more than i studied the Word

just pray for God to increase the Holy spirit in you in Jesus name and your desire for them to die to you

it seems to be more a process than instantanious thing for me

(same with anime and sports like MMA)
There was a TV show on long ago (to you, very short time ago to me lol) called West Wing. One of the character's name was Jack, and Jack was an alcoholic. He said something my husband needed to hear. He said, "To most people alcohol is something to drink until they had enough. To me there is never enough."

That's why hubby doesn't drink anymore. He was the same as Jack. I had enough by the time I was done college. I caught on that if you have to develop a taste for something, it's probably not worth developing the taste for. Alcohol just tastes nasty to me. (I wish I had figured that out about developing taste, before I developed the taste for tobacco though.)

BUT, for some they have it until they have enough.

I get that with alcohol. I don't get that with video games. I'm like you -- an addict. BUT, not everyone is like us. Not everyone is addicted to them, just because we are. It's not an idol for them.

Heaven will be perfect there's no need for video games, also people need to realize we'll only be in heaven for a short while, then it's off to the new earth and the new jerusalem.
What is the new Heaven for then if we leave heaven

No, not things, but they are part of the world, no? "Love not this world" ... or didn't you notice that part of the verse? ;)

If video games are Idols, meaning a mere television is an Idol too. If I may ask. Does one worship a video game or ask a video game to forgive sins?.. that was just an innocent question...
I'm an addict. That's a personality type. I can, and quickly do, become addicted to all kinds of things most people don't get addicted to. I can't help it. God hasn't changed that about me, but he gives me the strength (often, not always), to substitute one addiction for another. He helped me get off drugs. I swapped that addiction off for counseling people away from drugs and alcohol. Then I met future-hubby, and we moved far enough away from the rehab that I couldn't do that anymore. Forgot to replace it. And he wanted me to take some time off to try the housewife bit, just because my job when we met truly stunk! (Rehab volunteer at night. Runaway/Throwaway counselor by day.)

Yeah, really didn't work out -- the housewife bit. I became addicted to soap operas, and recognized the problem when I started thinking hubby was cheating on me.

Ummm, when? I knew what time he got off work and how much time it took him to come home. He was home on time every day and with me every weekend.

Yeah, really. TV addiction is a real thing too. (Oh, and whereas I truly appreciate the women gifted to stay home, I'm really not, unless it is assumed I'm not keeping the house beautiful. lol)

Well here is my two cents.
Heaven will be beyond all our expectations. Here is a story from my childhood that may answer your question. When I was 14 my family went to visit my grandfather. After being in Europe for several years I forgot what it was like there at his house. He lived on a farm in the mountains over 96 miles east of Nashville Tennessee. I asked my parents if Pappy (grandpa) had a tv . Mom and dad said they did not know. He didn't the last time we were there . All I could do was hope , life without tv would be the worst. We were going to spend 3 weeks there I couldn't imagine how bad it would be . When we arrived after unloading everything into the house my sisters and I saw fireflies in the woods behind Pappy's house . That was so cool I had not remembered ever seeing one . The next day was followed by listening to my grandfather talk about what has been going on there in his neck of the woods ,and helping him out around the farm my sisters and I had a blast . The next three weeks was spent exploring the farm and hearing old stories. I did not want to leave ,but dad was going to need to get to his next post so we had to leave . By the way Pappy did have a tv but that would have been boring.
Blessings
Bill
Besides, FARM! Surely there were irrigation ditches with tadpoles in them. That's how we spent most the time at our grandparent's farm -- watching tadpoles turn into frogs, (oh, and something-something about poor deer dying of thirst if we didn't "un-irrigate" the ditches, but that landed us in trouble somehow. lol)

I think we should reconsider what you are saying...so you mean anything that entertains us is sin? What is sin?...
Except for stuffed animals, of course.

well is it of the world?

and how do you define love?

i posted only some of the verses that give me this perspective

Matthew 6:21 - For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

1 Corinthians 10:14 - Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

i·dol·a·try
īˈdälətrē/Submit
noun
worship of idols.
synonyms: idolization, fetishization, fetishism, idol worship, adulation, adoration, reverence, veneration, glorification, lionization, hero-worshiping
"the prophets railed against idolatry"
extreme admiration, love, or reverence for something or someone.
Don't you dearly treasure your family? How about grandma and grandpa? (Granted, not all grandparents are wonderful, but it seems like most of us get at least one to treasure.)

Really, you're allowed to treasure, just not so much it breaks the first commandment.

ill change my belief if im shown scripture that points against what i posted

but so far the case is strong against games and movies and books that arent of God

not saying anyone here is going to hell

but if we are honest

just look at the verses
not my added words or understanding
Then what? Not saying you're wrong, because, yo, already admitted I have an addict's personality, but if you quite RPG, movies, and books, then what?

What do you do with that time you just gained back? Because if all you're doing is giving up, then that's wasted time anyway. AND, if you feel obligated to refill that wasted time, then what? On what? For what purpose is cutting everything out going to achieve?

And there really is a good answer to this, so this isn't a trick question. There's a couple of good answers, actually. But, you just left this at do-nothing.

Play as much as you wish if you have time for it, but do not think it will be with you forever. Only God will. Nor your games, neither your marriage, neither your coca-cola.
Well, I am planning on hubby and me being together eternally. Maybe no longer hubby, but we end up in the same place after this too.

look

id bet 100$
ive spent more time playing games than you
and more time watching anime

and im older so ive been a nerd for longer

im just saying these things kept me from God

i never damned anyone here

i said "its my suggestion as a fellow human not a superior"
Can I take that bet on the video game thingy with you? Oh, and the nerd thing too?

I started with Pong and ended with Morrowind. (Elder Scrolls -- I think 4th and 5th edition, but it's been so long, I'm not sure.) It's been a long time ago, but I can still take you anywhere in Morrowind, and show you how to play the quests. I can even point you to the four muck shovels on the island and the only place you can grab some human flesh for potions. :p
