On a prior post, your explanation of chapter 12 and 13 I agree with.

However, your explanation of chapter 14 I do not agree with...

Prophets must agree with those who have given prophecy before them. If a man gives a prophecy that contradicts a prophet like the prophet Isaiah then that prophet is to be judged according to the scripture.

This is another situation where you have taken great liberty with the lexicon. Prophecy today as I see it through the scripture is one of speaking forth the delivered word of God the bible. There is no new revelation from God. Revelation closed with John on Patmos.

well again you build a straw man. No where did I say 1cor 12, 13, and 14 in context to Prophecy or Prophesying was new i.e addition what is already written . The context of Prophesying is not the same as the Office of a Prophet which I said very clearly , your bias again betrays you. the context from the Greek of Prophesying found in chapter 12, 13, and 14 of 1 Corinthians is speaking under inspiration which is preaching , the inspiration that was spoken had to come from the Holy Spirit , the words that God gave to Paul and the Old testament and the writings why? because the completion of the NEW Testament was not done . and if you were to take out the numbering of the verses the context would be clearer because Paul did not use numbers for his verses . I have taken no liberty but the contextual meaning are as such you have not provided any other context for 1 cor chapter 12,13, 14 .

I am not asking for evidence just your answer. Does this happen, are people held accountable for false claims of supernatural abilities or is it ignored?
we hold them accountable DJ2

but some do not like to stay after and go somewhere else where they can do what they think is right . can't shoot them :)

You have your bias and I have mine.

No point in arguing.

There is a reason why it is said in the letter to the Corinthians:

the spirit of the prophets are subject to the prophets

The gift of prophecy doesn't necessarily make one a prophet miknik...or are you meaning something else?

NO sir I do not have bias, nor do I misquote you as you tired to do in your last post. And I am not arguing but I have formulated an argument; with contextual meaning from a theological position, from the Word of God; specifically 1 Corinthians chapters 12,13 and 14.

God Bless :)

Many times when I see tongues being spoken by one or more and each utterance interpreted by the same person, I wonder if the spirit speaking giving the utterance of the tongue is of God or of Satan. A few years ago God lead me to this scripture.

1Jonn 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Suggestion. Speak your favorite scripture in a your favorite language. If it is interpreted correctly, or no one attempts to interpret it, the Holy Spirit is the one interpreting the spoken tongues. If it is interpreted incorrectly, flee the tongues venue.

Don't take me wrong. I believe that Holy Spirit still uses tongues. I also know that Satan is just as adept at using them. I caution all to beware of Satanic utterances masked as tongues in your gatherings.

There are no "prophets"
only witnesses who hold to the TESTIMONY of JESUS

GOD didn't overlook anything HE gave us everything by HIS WORD for us to come to know HIM

for THE TESTIMONY of JESUS is the SPIRIT of prophecy

tjete is no reason that anyone will need to go beyond what is writtwn
anyone who does is not in line with the spirit of the prophets

Would not trust them either.

What would happen if they challenged your ability to see through their false spirit?

The New Testament says... there are.
Yes you know why don't you

HE said HE would send prophets so that upon those who don't want to listen to their "prophecy" will come the blood of every prophet from Abel to Zechariah

and since we already discussed and i already said there isnt "prophets" in the sense of fore telling (a new thing)
but only in forth telling (bringing forth all the hidden truths found in CHRIST JESUS) what witness will go beyond the doctrine of CHRIST

Plus

norhing
and
no thing?

and offer a new thing and then Claim themselves a prophet?

Certainly not a witness of CHRIST

The New Testament says... there were.
If there were so today, there would be no need for debate.

Well, anyway...what I said was that the gift doesn't necessarily mean there is an office. That's the call of God on one specifically.

The body however, should seek to prophesy..

Can't do a thing without the anointing of the King...lol I like the signature of CS1 but changed it just a bit to make it mine.

When HE poured out HIS SPIRIT on those whom HE called and told them to "go" and be HIS WITNESSES testifying to all that HE has said

in my experience when one has been corrected they have not previously been corrected so they were ignorant or unlearned. They most of the time were very open to the Biblical correction . some felt if they did not, (not speak in tongues) it was quenching the Holy Spirit. We show them in scripture the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are not of the spirit of out of control or without self control.

those who have been shown and do it again are spoken to by the Pastor and elders if they do not agree they are told you can no longer exercise what you think is " gifts of the Holy Spirit" . Now the context of "false spirit " maybe over kill , because remember some are unlearned or taught error . The Holy Spirit is very long suffering with us in all areas this is why Pastors have to be called and hearing from the Word of God. Those who do not adhere to the pastor are in error .

I have preached in many churches where the pastor told me "You can not speak in tongues" I said ok sir you are the Pastor I submit to your authority and leadership as I come under your covering. Maturity goes along way and unity Jesus wants that and the Holy Spirit inspires that.

Well, didn't Paul come after this? And didn't he set up the order of the services?
