Just one act of kindness and love in Jesus name is enough to qualify as a sheep. All God's kids do at least one, but God is not a slave driver with a quota of how many works you must do to earn salvation.

These verses DESCRIBE those who are saved. They are NOT REQUIREMENTS to BE SAVED.

Matthew 25
37Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,f you did it to me.’

hi stunned

do these help?

Joh 6:27 Do not work for food that perishes but for food that lasts for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set his seal on him."

Joh 6:28 Then they asked him, "What must we do to perform the actions of God?"

Joh 6:29 Jesus answered them, "This is the action of God: to believe in the one whom he has sent."
PLEASE explain what believe means.
In--- BELIEVE in the One whom He has sent...

Thanks.

Acts 16
29And the jailere called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. 30Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

He DID NOT say that since they "believed in Him, they would automatically be saved".
Fyi.,,beleive means to fully trust in Jesus ability to save you fully.

Jesus saving you involves death of the Old man and rebirth as a child of God.

I have read your post and where you deviate from the New Covenant is this below as many have already told you here on CC.

"A counterfeit Gospel is out there. It is a Gospel that tries to separate God's 10 commandments from the plan of salvation.God's forever Law (the 10 commandments) is the foundation of both the Old and the New Covenant and the very foundation and basis of the true Gospel of Christ. "

The truth is that we are gong to be judged by what Paul called "My gospel" according to Christ Himself as He took away the sin of the world. Reject His sacrifice for sins and this is called willful sinning and there remains no more sacrifice for sins.

Romans 2:16 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of men through Christ Jesus.

I am very glad you have found Christ and may the Lord open your eyes to see the New Covenant and that he alone is our true Sabbath rest. All the law and the prophets speak of Christ Himself. The Old Testament is a shadow or type of the real substance which is Christ Himself. Col. 2:16-17

The Lord bless you too and He will be faithful to reveal Himself to you as well as to all of us.
Grace777,

It seems like my testimony post has struck a cord with you. Could it be because you are following a counterfeit Gospel?

God bless

Zmouth,

Your first sentence is beyond my understanding.
Apparently you know something I don't know.
The verse you post does not mean what you think it means.
Jesus means that He didn't come to destroy THE WORD of the prophets.
HOW could He?? The Prophets were the oracle of God.
If Jesus came to destroy the Prophets it would mean they told LIES.

Jesus also did not come to destroy THE LAW.
God is a moral being. Jesus COULD NOT have come to destroy the Law for He would have been destroying a part of God.

He came to fulfil the Law. To make it perfect and complete. Everytime you read Jesus saying "you have heard it said" He is about to make the Law more complete and understandable to us and more "full".
It means to execute, enforce-to carry out, to fulfill.
"...for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Gal 6:7
As far as my being perfect.
I refuse to answer silly questions.
Correct me if I am wrong but you said that we should do what Jesus instructed us to to do?
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matt 5:48
So if asking what you were doing to be perfect before the LORD is a silly question then wouldn't that make talking to Jesus a form of necromancy.? 1 Cor 2:14

But I'll say this:
Do you do your best to be UNPERFECT???
I don't talk to the dead no matter what they tell ya!

Read the whole post and see that it lacks mention of how the Holy spirit leads, the importance of love and how the new Covenant is founded on MORE than keeping of the ten commandments.

It looks like he believes that God just repackaged the old covenant and have it again instead of showing a true understanding of the New Covenant.
I think you should read it again. The man shared a big portion of his own walk and experience. Yes, he did it in his own words (refreshing to me personally), and he said "God" instead of the "Holy Spirit" (some don't really separate the three but they are all just God to them and that's okay). He DID talk about love and he DID talk about the new covenant being more than a keeping of the 10 commandments. In fact, he noted that he came to the point where he basically said, but then...it is impossible if it applies even to my inward thoughts!

I didn't see as you did that he was thinking God just repackaged the old covenant. I saw that he was rejoicing that God causes him to actually BE law abiding in his inner man and not just as an outside display.

Those 200+ scriptures absolutely contradict your interpretation of the two scriptures you hold on to in Col 2:16-17. But please by all means tell me how they do not. Links posted for your convenience. (Post 22030 with extra links; Post 22032 + Post 22033; and Post 22034)? Just saying so does not make it so.

There are no rules and regulation to the Sabbath as we are not under the ceremonial laws of Moses and the traditions of the Jews. The ceremonial laws and feast days are nailed to the cross (already shown through scripture in the above posts you have ignored).
See post #22476.

You have seen the scriptures in the above posts but you close your eyes to hold on to the teachings and traditions of man.
I don't close my eyes to the truth under the New Covenant (Colossians 2:16-17) as you do for the sake of remaining under the law and in bondage to your false religion.

Then you cherry pick scripture to justify breaking God's commandment.
I don't cherry pick. I rightly divide the word of truth and don't intermingle the old and new covenant.

There is no scripture in the Word of God that says we no longer need to keep God's 4th commandment Holy.
Colossians 2:16-17.

There is no scripture in God's Word commanding us to keep Sunday worship in place of God's Law. Your interpretation has no basis in the Word of God but you keep it to hold on to your traditions.
- Christians worship on 1st Day: Ats 20:7 & 1 Corinthians 16:1-2

Jesus says Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draws nigh unto me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men (Matt 15:3-9)
I have quoted scripture, not traditions of men. Your "keep the Sabbath on Saturday or else under the new covenant" commandment is of men.

This should be a warning to us if we choose the teachings and traditions of man over the Word of God. The Word will judge us in the last days (John 12:47-50)
Consider yourself warned.

Right there....works based self reliance......

Jesus eternally seals you and saves you to his KINGDOM.......Ephesians....TRANSPOSED into the Kingdom of His dear SON.....

Jesus begins our faith
Jesus finishes our faith
Jesus completes the good work he began
Jesus saves eternally

There is no such thing as ONE keeping themselves IN the KINGDOM.......a son by birth will always be a son by birth we are BORN from above by incorruptible seed!
Sigh...

If the Prodigal Son had not come back,
He would have been LOST.

Please see
Luke 15:24

The father says the son was dead and has come to life AGAIN, he was lost and is found.
AGAIN means:
The son was saved when he was with the father.
He became LOST WHEN HE LEFT THE FATHER'S HOUSE.
He returned to the Father's house and came back to life AGAIN...

Luke 15:24 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

24 for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.’ And they began to celebrate.

Are you sure it's not YOU who is following a counterfeit Gospel?

Why don't you explain to us what the Gospel IS and what it means to BELIEVE the Gospel. (Romans 1:16)

The NEW COMMANDMENT in the New covenant given by Jesus is for us to love others as Jesus loves us.

In the old covenant, it was an eye for an eye. In the new it's turn the other cheek and forgive as God has forgiven you. Bless and love your enemies, go the extra mile. That is an example of grace teaching versus law keeping.

There are more differences between the new Covenant and the old, but who cares to listen?

It's good that you're thinking about the Rosemary.

Works keep us saved in the sense that we do them because we are Abiding in Christ.

IF we stop doing good works, what does it mean?
If we start being mean to people instead of being nice to them, does it mean we're still IN CHRIST?
Are we still abiding in Him?

Works are a SIGN of our abiding. They of themselves do not keep us saved.
They're a SIGN that we are still saved.

I understand that there's a think red line here, but I believe you're seeing it.

As you read you'll find that Jesus told us to do many things.
Was he just wasting His breath??
Mathew chapters 5 to 7 is sufficient to understand Him.
Your second sentence here is, in my opinion, a better way to put it than to say works keep you saved. There is less misunderstanding in the mind of the reader. This second sentence is very good! :)

I’m a little confused and I generally do not walk in to anyone’s conversation although it does seem important, and then for my own understanding of this false gospel.

The basis of the gospel is Jesus Christ that completed the law. Even though the 10 commandments were the foundation of the OT they are not in the NT. Jesus Christ is the centerpiece. As it is written IN John 1, Moses gave the Law and Jesus (he was full of) gave us grace and truth. The 10 commandments are now embedded in our hearts with any other commandments already presented and future for each one personally, that the spirit wants to make us aware of, usually of sin and guidance for living.

In Christ, Always

is not how many time you help the needy, It is the fruit of the Holy spirit.

God is love, If Jesus in you, He Will produce agape love. Agape love show himself in the form of love the poor, love the stranger/ not racist, If one only love the rich, the powerful man like president, every body can do, we do not need Holy Spirit.

in my country people proud If the president is your friend.

It not count. If you help and love the poor, that count in His eyes.

When exactly were you going to tell us you copy/pasted this straight off the internet? This makes twice you posted it without a single reference to the author.
I'm sorry Stephen. Your'e right. But I can assure you I had no intent to try and make it out as if I wrote that. That was sloppy of me. I kinda just assumed it was a given. But the verses speak for themselves. I'm assuming you are referring to the commentary just before the verses.

Have a blessed weekend!

Sorry SG

Do I understand you now?
You're saying that we shouldn't even be arguing about abiding in Christ since it's a given.

IF we abide in Christ all His promises are for us and will be realized.

If this is what you meant, I agree 100% and apologize.
Yes. That is what I mean to say. And His mercy is enough so that there is no need to grasp for eternal life as if it a possession of my own apart from abiding, or to say: it's mine now no matter what I do or don't do. It isn't a deal to cheat death. He IS eternal life. Why is it so odious that I must remain in trust in Him in order for it to be mine?

Good morning Fran from sunny UK...Well i have just read through Matthew 5 and came up to 16 and stopped there for a while, Jesus says " Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral, excellence and your praiseworthy , noble and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven " I see this as works for God, is Jesus not talking to us here...xox...
Yes well --- this is my whole point.
How does one reading through the N.T. come up with the idea that Jesus did NOT leave us with commandments?
I just don't understand this.

Maybe it's based on fear because good works are NOT being done?
Maybe some think it's too much to live up to so they cannot base their faith on what Jesus actually said?

I do want to say that there is nothing to fear for those that are in our Lord and Savior and are doing the best they can.
We can do no more than that. God will forigive us all our sins as long as we are trusting in His Son to save us.

That is no reason to DENY that works are demanded by Jesus Himself.
It is NOT a scary thought for those of us who love our Lord and Savior and depend on Him for salvation.

According to his gospel, the cross is not enough to save.

One must follow the ten commandments which includes keeping the Sabbath or be labeled a sinner and condemned to hell.

That is not the new Covenant. Its just a repackage of the old.

Jesus did more on the cross than enable us to keep the law.

Thank you for explaining this Jackson.
When persons ask HOW MANY good acts are necessary, it makes me giggle. I think it's funny.
Do they think God keeps a list???
Of course not!

We are to always do our best.

I've listed many verses that show salvation can be lost.

YOU say that Jesus promises to keep us.

Could you list some verses where Jesus makes this promise to keep us NO MATTER WHAT.

Where JESUS says He promises to keep us no matter what.
I like to go by what JESUS said since HE IS GOD.

If you're going to list John 6:29 I then ask you to please explain to everyone here what the word BELIEVE means.
Thanks.
Ah...yes! What does the word believe mean??
If Adam and Eve had believed what God said, they wouldn't have eaten the fruit.
They would have done what He said and NOT eaten it.

If I said to you: oh no, don't eat that candy bar, it is poisoned and you will die if you eat it, there would be only one reason I would eat it - because I didn't believe what you said to be true!

What nonsense if I said in my dying breath: but I DID believe you. I proved, by not listening to what you said, that I clearly did NOT believe you were telling the truth!
