I believe suicide is an act of self-centered arrogance. Many of these people are really saying, "Pay attention to me, feed my ego! If you don't I'll kill myself! Then you'll be sorry, because everyone will know it was because of you that I was driven to kill myself!" (The "you" here is often times an ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend.) What can you say to a person in such a state of mind? How can you bring them back to reality and a state of humility? Calling for professional help may be the best option until they calm down. If they are Christians I would remind them from the Word of God that there is hope
sa 27:13 I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Psa 31:22 As for me, I said in my alarm, "I am cut off from before Your eyes"; Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications When I cried to You. Psa 34:15-19 The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous And His ears are open to their cry. The face of the Lord is against evildoers, To cut off the memory of them from the earth. The righteous cry, and the Lord hears And delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted And saves those who are crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all. Psa 42:11 Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. Jas 4:6-10 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, "God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble." Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.
