***off topic***

Thank you for correctly spelling per se. That's refreshing. I see it spelled per say all the time.
Ugh, I was one of those geeky top spellers in elementary school. LOL

Can I assist you in anyway:rolleyes:
Certainly. Point me at the nearest woo-woo conspiracy theory thread so I can get into a keyboard commando match with the "charming" folks pushing their ignorance about science and technology. Those are always good for raising my blood pressure to homicidal levels.

A big part of the problem is that your doctrine, and my doctrine, and the doctrine of that fellow posting in the other thread, all have subtle differences. Even though we all worship the same God we interpret passages of the bible in different ways. Hence, the need for at least some amount of tolerance and courtesy.

I think that's what Paul had in mind when he said:
1 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. 2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand. (Romans 14:1-4)

I think too many of us are quick to assume the role of judging others. Perhaps we should just point to scripture and leave it at that. :)
There is no End Times doctrine. There is no Free Will Doctrine. There is no Tongues is the Proof of Holy Spirit in Us doctrine. There is no H2O Saves Us doctrine. There is no doctrine on the gifts ending. There is no Sabbath Day must be on X day of the week doctrine. There is no Faith + Works = Justification doctrine. There is no Grace - Works = Faith doctrine. There is no X + Y + Z = God has to heal me doctrine.

There is, however, the doctrine of the trinity. There is doctrine of who Jesus was on earth. (100% God and 100% Man.) There is God is Sovereign doctrine. There is Faith = Justification + Works doctrine.

If we do not know the truth, we'll fall for anything! And look at this forum. We're falling for a whole lot of nothing.

You betcha! I'm judging! I know Jamie comes here, and Temp, and so many others new to the Christian life. I will do my best to make sure the ones young in Christ learn Christ, not learn mess.

Naw. That's the benefit of being unemployed - I don't have to explain why I've bounced a managers head off his desk like a basketball for some dumb thing he's said or some unreasonable request he's made of me. I do much better of handling my anger around managers these days.

LOL

I can’t assist you with that cause I’ve never gone to that thread.
Conspiracy theory doesn’t interest me at all.

Is it possible that something you, or others, consider to be doctrine (or don't consider to be doctrine) is not recognized in that same manner by all people who consider themselves Christians? And if that's the case, is it up to you to judge them for possibly misinterpreting the bible? Does Jesus teach for you to be the judge of others? Wouldn't it be better to express your opinion, quote scripture supporting that opinion, and leave it at that? For example:
1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? (Matthew 7)

It seems like there wouldn't be nearly as much angst on CC if people held their discussions in this manner instead of stating what they believe to be true and calling anyone who dares to question that belief (or even discuss it) a heretic. (I'm not saying you do this. But there are plenty of active CC posters who do.)

There is no End Time doctrines. That means you can have your own theory, (which most of us do), and argue it all day and night without worrying if the other person is wheat or tare. The exception to that rule of thumb is if you're whole understanding of scripture and God is based on your pet theory. Then that's a problem.

There is no Sabbath day doctrine, so you are free to argue Saturday, Sunday, or Thursday is the Sabbath Day all you want without worrying about wheat/tare again, unless, again, that is your whole base for understanding God.

Each one of those "There is no ____ doctrine" can be argued until the cows come home, go out again, come back, and repeat until they die of old age, just as long as....

There is freedom in arguing nondoctrines. It's sometimes fun to do. BUT when the nondoctrine becomes THE doctrine, then it is time to judge.

There really aren't all that many doctrines that need to be upheld, but there are, very much, doctrines that need to be upheld.

If someone comes along and says that Jesus isn't God, is it time to passively give a few verses, and then wash our hands of that person, so that person can keep teaching those who are new enough to be fooled by such foolishness? That IS heresy, so, yeah, I will call a heretic a heretic. I'd call the person a painted white tombstone, but who gets the reference anymore?

Honestly, I think Christians have given way to the belief that we're supposed to be pacifists because nonchristians keep telling us that's what we're supposed to be. We're really not. We're soldiers.

Okay, so if I understand you correctly, there are times when we leave the judgement to God or Jesus, but there are other times when it's okay for us to take judgement of others into our own hands.

Is that consistent or inconsistent with the passage of Matthew 7 I quoted above?

I suspect that you get my point—and I'm apparently not going to convince you—so I'll leave it at that with you. :)
