I went to a kmart for the first time in years last weekend, oh how the mighty has fallen. Not only expensive, but it was trashy.. I used to go there all the time.
Me too, but that was before Walmart exploded on the scene. They were the dagger in the corpse. Sad.

Pretty much spot on.

Trying to be our own Christ, even if we follow his example to the best of our abilities. Is still filthy rags to Him.

But to trust Christ and Christ's work alone for our salvation, we will know Him and He will know us.
That sounds really good and religious except Jesus didn’t say that. He said He didn’t know them because they rejected His instruction, not because they followed it. His Word does mean something. How can you say you trust Him, but not His Instruction? I think that is the question Ralph is posing.

When I lived in Michigan I would shop at Meijer Thrifty Acres all of the time. They are still the major player in groceries but Walmart is catching up. I used to work for that company also. It's true in that it's a small world.

He did not say that either, He said he did not know them, then told them what they really did.

He tells us why they di dnot know them, because they did not believe. (He said it many times)

He is talking to religious wanna bed who refuse to place their faith in him, but instead think their works will mean something. He shuts them down, and says this is how much your works mean to me, I NEVER KNEW YOU.

One who practices unrighteousness HAS NEVER SEEN GOD (1 John) there were not saved one time then lost it.

I trust His instruction. But I trust His Person and His personal work for me for my salvation.

And look a little closer at the verses you are using. They are saying EXACTLY what I am saying.

These folks pleaded their case with the mighty works they did in His name, and The Lord Jesus Christ said," I never knew you."

To be born-again we have to plead HIS mighty works and trust in His work for us.

Lawlessness and iniquity also includes our own righteousness/human good/EVIL.

Which is exactly what Matt 7:23 is addressing.

Matt 7:22

New American Standard Bible
"Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?'

How 'bout not being in bondage to sin, for starters. The person who is still in bondage to sin is not an obedient person.

How is a rule broken when a person, saved or unsaved, keeps it? Isn't it rather when you don't keep a rule that you are being lawless?

Who did John say is the one that knows Him, the obedient one, or the disobedient one?

All unbelievers practice lawlessness. All believers can not.

The difference is faith vs no faith.

You focus to much on obedience, Sadly, it scares me youy are one of the people spoken to.

Nor have they ever been saved or born of the spirit.

Why did John say they were obedient? What separates them from, the sinner?

hey eternally-gratefull u can join me in the not born again club....... u see we got our membership card from ralph :D
Test yourself to see if you are in the faith. Did you know the Bible says this? Do you know how to do that? Paul tells us how.

You get the 'not born again card' depending on how you measure up when you examine yourself to see if you are in the faith. I don't decide who gets one of those cards. But I can tell who may have one. Just make sure you aren't a card carrying member of that club when you die.

How good is good enough. How much obedience must we do to as you say “measure up”?

Maybe, maybe not. It's a moot point anyway. If you're lost, you're lost. Really doesn't matter if you were saved before or not, you're still lost either way.

You have a life characterized by God's love for others, especially the church. You probably don't know what that love is and how it is different than the love natural people have.
