There are many Scriptures which show us that bread is a metaphor for Christ Himself. Just as ordinary bread sustains human life PHYSICALLY, the Divine life of Christ (which is eternal life) sustains the believer SPIRITUALLY. So bread as an element at the Lord's Supper represents Christ and our internal fellowship (communion) with Him. The Scriptures which make it clear are:

King James Bible (1 Cor 10:16)
The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion (Gk koinonia) of the body of Christ?

Strong's Concordance (2842)
koinónia: fellowship
Original Word: κοινωνία, ας, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: koinónia
Phonetic Spelling: (koy-nohn-ee'-ah)
Short Definition: participation, communion, fellowship
Definition: (lit: partnership) (a) contributory help, participation, (b) sharing in, communion, (c) spiritual fellowship, a fellowship in the spirit.

Did you notice that it says "spiritual fellowship"? That is also called "supping" (dining) in Scripture, and is a metaphor for intimate and blissful contact, communion, or fellowship.

King James Bible (Rev 3:20)
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup (Gk deipneo) with him, and he with me.

Thayer's Greek Lexicon
STRONGS NT 1172: δειπνέω

δειπνέω, δείπνῳ: (futureδειπνήσω; 1 aorist ἐδείπνησα; (δεῖπνον); to sup: Luke 17:8; Luke 22:20 (WH reject the whole passage, see their Appendix); 1 Corinthians 11:25; in an allegory, δειπνήσωμετ'αὐτοῦ, I will make him to share in my most intimate and blissful contact: Revelation 3:20.

So this is what the Lord's Supper is -- Holy Communion.

Very interesting! So WHAT did Jesus mean when He said what is quoted in the search link immediately below?

We will let Matthew Henry explain this (which is exactly what I have done): v. 55. observe, also, the participation of this food: We must eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood (v. 53); and again (v. 54), Whoso eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood; and the same words (v. 56, v. 57), he that eateth me. This is certainly a parable or figurative discourse, wherein the actings of the soul upon things spiritual and divine are represented by bodily actions about things sensible, which made the truths of Christ more intelligible to some, and less so to others,... It has been wretchedly misconstrued by the church of Rome for the support of their monstrous doctrine of transubstantiation, which gives the lie to our senses, contradicts the nature of a sacrament, and overthrows all convincing evidence.

The Eucharist can be destroyed by going to the source.

Jesus called the bread from heaven or his flesh the “food which endures forver, which one can eat and NOT DIE” unlike the food which their father ate (manna) which they had to continually eat. Because the food died. And they had to rteplenish the nutrients, or they themselves Old die.

so our first point. The flesh jesus said we should eat only needs eaten once, it endures forever. And it never fades away.

Jesus also said, whoever eat would NEVER DIE, LIVE FOREVER< NEVER HUNGER NEVER THIRST, and will be guaranteed to be risen on the last day,

The Eucharist does not guarantee any of these.

It does not endure forever (it needs to continue to be eaten) it does not grant the one who eats will never die, if it did, they never would have to eat. People still hunger, based not he fact all religious (yes the Catholics are not the only ones who drink and eat as part of the Eucharist) eat continually. And partaking in the Eucharist does not guiarantee anyone they will be risen on the last day, And would never be lost.

They can deny it all they want, but they deny in vein. They call Jesus a liar. Plain and simple./

This is certainly a parable or figurative discourse,

Of course, you can point out SCRIPTURES which make your assertion above VERY PLAIN ... RIGHT? Please paste such scriptures VERBATIM (without modification of any kind), so we can all know the truth! We would not want ANYONE to come away with the idea that GOD can perform miracles, so we must have a man-made(up) explanation for transubstantiation!

Of course it goes without saying, that you should specify what version of bible you used as a source, and we shall check 1John 5:7 in it, so we know whether it has been corrupted or not!

=Nehemiah6;3391976]
These are both incorrect, and I believe they misrepresent what Christians believe.

1. The Bible clearly teaches that no man can be JUSTIFIED (declared righteous) by the works of the Law of Moses. Justification is always by grace through faith.
There was an "old Covenant" with Israel that stated sins could only be forgiven by Levitical Priesthood "works of the Law". While you are correct that is was always the Grace of God, HE still instituted these "works of the Law" as a shadow of what Jesus would do for them. It was a LAW of MOSES "Added" to God's Laws "Until the Seed should come".

The Jews didn't believe in the God of the bible(Jesus, before becoming a man), but had created their own "image of God in the likeness of man". (Rom. 1) They were still promoting their version of these "works of the Law for justification of sins."

Paul explained;

Rom. 3:27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

There was a "Law of Works" Levitical Priesthood ceremonial, sacrificial, "Works of the Law" for remission of sins.

And a "Law of Faith". Duet. 30:That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days:

28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

The Mainstream preachers of our time preach this means all of God's Laws, that is a deception. Christians are still bound to the Law of Faith to receive Grace as Paul taught.

Acts 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

Rom. 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

2. The Bible clearly teaches that the Pharisees were trying to please God by (a) adherence to the letter of the law while neglecting the spirit and the weightier matters of the Law and (b) adding the traditions of the elders to the Law of Moses. Essentially, they were branded as hypocrites by Christ.
This teaching is another deception. Jesus said the Pharisees didn't know God, taught for doctrines the "Commandments of Men, not from God. They had killed the Prophets sent to correct them for centuries. Jesus said they were servants of satan. Liars, thieves. It is a false teaching to preach the Mainstream Preachers of Christ's time were trying to be righteous by keeping God's Laws. They kept some of them, but so did the Gentiles. You don't here todays Mainstream Preaches declaring the Gentiles were trying to please God by follow His Laws just because they kept a few of them.

From the beginning satan has used parts of God's Word to deceive folks into rejecting the instructions of God. At one point we are all deceived by it.

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

To do this it must discredit God somehow. (You shall surely not die) So first it uses religion to separate God from HIS righteousness. His Instruction must been seen as inadequate, a mistake, a burden so people can easily be convinced, as was Eve and the Jews, to reject it.

WE all have the same choice.

(Duet. 30:19 I (Jesus) call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I (Jesus) have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

But Jesus also said:

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. (Not of Man)

The preachers of Christ's time could have "done truth". They didn't have to create their own image of God in the likeness of man. But they didn't want their traditions exposed as coming from man and not from God. So they killed Him, as they did the Prophets before Him.

To dishonor God by preaching they were trying to please the God of the Bible by obedience is a blatant falsehood that "many" have come to believe as the truth. The Bible as a whole exposes this teaching for what it is.

3. The Ten Commandments (which were distilled into the two greatest commandments) have become the Law of Christ, written on the hearts and minds of those who are regenerated, and to be obeyed by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. So Christians are not Antinomians, and the Antinomians are false teachers.
So because men have been convinced that Jesus, as God of the Old Testament, created laws impossible to follow, then killed tens of thousands of people for not obeying them, they don't believe in this Jesus. They have Separated Jesus from His Righteousness.

Ps. 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

Todays preachers have convinced people into forgetting that Jesus and the God of the Bible are one. They have created their own version of Jesus. A long Haired man, with a perfect profile, who taught differently as a man that He did as God of the Bible, even though He says He does not change. They preach that God's Instructions are obsolete. They preach the lie that the "Law of Faith and the "Law of Works" are the same.

They preach that it is no longer a sin to create images of God in the likeness of man. That it is no longer against God to create their own High Days and Sabbaths while rejecting those He created specifically for them.

They create their own "Light" which can not expose their "works" whether they be from God or from man.

They are forced to ignore volumes of God's Instructions that expose their works.

Matt. 6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Like the Mainstream Preachers before them, they are tricked into believing they can serve the God they created, and the God of the bible that gives life at the same time.

Since they refuse to listen when God, through His Word, corrected them, He gives them over to their foolishness.

One perfect example of this it the preaching that the New Covenant destroyed or altered the Old Testament. This is a great deceit that is easily exposed if you actually study what was Written.

Jer. 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I (Jesus) will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

The New Covenant had to do with 2 things regarding the Priesthood, according to the Scriptures. Nothing about God's Laws being "distilled" to mean something different than they did in the NT.

#1. How God's Laws are administered. Heb. 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,)

#2. How sin's are forgiven. Jesus will forgive with His blood, not the "Works of the Levitical Priesthood" as Moses taught.

In the New Covenant, we no longer go to the Pharisees for information about the Will of God or His Righteousness, He writes them in our hearts. We no longer go to the Levite Priests for absolution, but to our High Priest.

The preaching that the New Covenant changed the definition of sin or the consequences of it is a false teaching.

I know it is a natural reaction to defend our lifestyle and religions, as it was for Cain all the way to the Pharisees. My hope is that you might see we all face the same choice as Eve did. Do we listen to God for our instructions or man.

Oh, NOW I understand! Therefore, there was NO CHURCH ON EARTH until Martin Luther came along after the year 1500, and established the PROTESTant (notice the root word) religion(s)! Too bad all those people who lived and died in those 1500+ years were destined for HELL!!! I guess Jesus was pulling a practical JOKE when he, "You are Peter (petros), and upon this rock I will build MY CHURCH, and the gates of hell SHALL NOT PREVAIL against it. I will give YOU (who was THAT He was talking to?) the keys of the kingdom. Whatever YOU BIND on earth shall be bound in heaven." (Establishing infallibility in matters of faith and morals, and SUCCESSIVE authority throughout all time).
Acts 5:29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Hos. 4:17 Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.18 Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.

Martin Luther was no different than Catholic, which was no different than the Pharisees.

They all three "Transgress the Commandments of God by their own Traditions". Peter didn't do this, neither did Jesus, Daniel, or Abraham.

If the Catholic religious franchise is acceptable to God, then so are all her daughters including Martin Luther.

We ought to obey God rather than men? Do you suppose Jesus, the Christ qualified as God?

As for all the "daughters" of the Catholic Church, do you mean the PROTESTant ones who REFUSED to do what Jesus commanded because they "didn't like" some of the doctrines? Did they DO what Jesus COMMANDED them to do, at the last supper ... CONTINUALLY?

Jesus is the God of the Old Testament, no doubt. Him and His Father are one. Not sure what your point is.

Absolutely not. They do what the Catholic Church said to do "Continually", not what Jesus said.

They have your High Days, they have your images of God created in the likeness of man that Jesus expressly forbid His people to create, they have your Sabbaths. Other than worshipping Mary, there isn't much difference that I can see.

Well 2 people voted dtdhadt no dobedience is required, but only belief and a number of people have basically said that His words are abolished and Paul now speaks for Him.

James 2:17, "So also belief, if it does not have works, is in itself dead."

James 2:22, "Do you see that the belief was working with his works, and by the works the belief was perfected?"

James 2:24, "You see, then, that a man is declared right by works, and not by belief alone."

James 2:26, "For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so the faith without works is dead also."

James 2:14-26, “My brothers, what use is it for anyone to say he has belief but does not have works? This belief is unable to save him.”

John/Yahanan 12:48, "He who rejects Me, and does not follow My words has One Who judges him. The word that I have spoken, the same will be used to judge him in the last day."

I stated in the Op I believe we need faith and obedience to what He says.

I was wrong, it is a good question then, but that is to their shame, and you are spot on....

From the article linked below:

What I Wish I'd Known About the Catholic Church
Jesus is Present in the Eucharist

For all the different Protestant branches and denominations I’ve learned that no one in Protestantism takes Jesus’s words more literally than the Catholic Church.
When Jesus said, “This is my body; this is my blood,” the Catholic Church—and the whole of Christianity for 1,500 years—takes Him at His word.

Incredibly, the Catholic theology of transubstantiation says that when the priest consecrates the elements (the bread and the wine) they become the actual body and blood of Jesus through a mysterious, miraculous process. The fact that we can’t see, touch, or taste these elements are real flesh and blood is part of the miracle. This bold claim is backed up not only by a thousand and a half years of Church history but by solid exegesis of the gospels.
Jesus, from Bethlehem (which means “the house of bread”), who was laid into a manger (which is a feeding trough) when He was born is the actual manna from Heaven.
If I had known that I can actually receive Jesus in the Eucharist, I would’ve stormed the doors of my local Catholic Church a decade ago.

Read more at What I Wish I'd Known About the Catholic Church

Oh so you cannot name them either.... Nether can I but this I can tell you for a FACT THE FIRST CHRISTIANS WERE JEWS!!!! And it was that way for a long time. ...And the Catholics love to kill us!!!!!

Released From the Law, Bound to Christ

1 Do you not know, brothers and sisters—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives? 2 For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him. 3 So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man.

4 So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. 5 For when we were in the realm of the flesh,[SUP]a[/SUP] the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death. 6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.

Keep reading through... The Law of GOD is good... we the Creation needed a Holy Spirit Baptism Which GOD offers through His Beloved Son if we Believe...

A New Covenant is a New Agreement.. GOD’s Law written inwardly.

Love GOD and each other is Spiritual.. For GOD is a Spirit and we are to worship Him in Spirit and Truth.. The Faith of Abraham is to Believe GOD through His Son.

No one as yet been able to tell me which of GOD’s Law is not to be Kept other than the 4th Commandment debate, most accept Love keeps them all naturally because if GOD states He does not like something we do it not and so on and so forth.

The Law of Moses (circumcision on 8th day) was upheld even on a Sabbath day and the Lord called them out.. pointing out their veil of Moses, yet they perceived not.

We can be forgiven of our sin released from condemnation set at liberty under Grace but GOD’s Law is to be taught and Kept just like the Messiah instructed.

I’m sad so many are yet to Believe and know that Christ affirmed the 10 Commandments in His Testament.

i have been called and likened to all sorts.. but I will by the Grace of GOD Believe the Lord above all else.

I have to keep in mind that God preserved Ham through the flood so that a choice between good and evil continued to exist. God gave this same choice to Eve and to Noah and to Abraham and will preserve evil to test us as well.

Judges 2:20 And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;21 I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:
22 That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.

So as it was with Eve, so also will we have the serpent whispering in our ears "You shall surely not die" if you disrespect and dishonor God with disobedience.

I am comforted by your words L1. No matter how many teach against Him and His Words, no matter how they insult, scorn and ridicule, by the Grace of God I will believe in the Jesus of the bible.

Thank you for that :^)

We are to obey Him in response to accepting Him. Our whole lives after that revolve around repentance and doing His word in light of this freedom. And we rely on Him, the living Torah, to pull us through it. By following Him in this way, we can learn that we are justified not in what we do, but in what He is doing. The only thing we need to work on is our patience, enduring the trials that come our way.

Here is the perseverance of the kedoshim —those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Yeshua .

You isolate Paul's words, he says he is dead to sin and alive to Yah';s Law:

Romans, “6:1-2, "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin* that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?"

*What is sin, that we may not continue in it?

1 John 3:4, "Whoever commits sin, transgresses also the Law; for sin is the transgression of the Law."

Romans 8:2, “Because through Yahshua Messiah, the Law of the Spirit has set me free from the law of sin and death.”

Romans 7:25, “Thanks be to YHWH, I have deliverance through Yahshua Messiah our King! So then, with this same mind, I myself serve the Law of YHWH, while in the flesh that is yet subject to the law of sin.”

Many people misunderstand Paul that is why it is written:

2 Peter/Kepha 3:15-17, "and reckon the patience of our Master as deliverance, as also our beloved brother Paul/Sha’ul wrote to you, according to the wisdom given to him, as also in all his letters, speaking in them concerning these matters, in which some are hard to understand, which those who are untaught and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do also the other Scriptures. You, then, beloved ones, being forewarned, watch, lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the delusion of the lawless, but grow in the favor and knowledge of our Master and Savior יהושע Messiah. To Him be the esteem both now and to a day that abides. Awmiĕn.”

As if Paul was dead to Yah's Law why would he say this:

Acts 24:14, "But I confess this to you, that after the way which they call heresy, so I (Paul) worship the Father of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets."

Romans 7:25, "Thanks be to YHWH, I have deliverance through Yahshua Messiah our King! So then, with this same mind, I myself serve the Law of YHWH, while in the flesh that is yet subject to the law of sin."

Acts 21:24, "Take them, and be purified with them, and pay their expenses so that they may shave their heads. Then everyone will know that those things they were informed about you (forsaking the Law), were lies, and that you (Paul), yourself, walk orderly, and keep the Law."

1 Corinthians 7:19, "For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of Yah?"

Perhaps some people DO NOT BELIEVE that God performs a MIRACLE of transubstantiation each and every time that people OBEY HIS COMMAND, which was "DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME."
Jesus is the Bread of Life. Just as bread nourishes our physical bodies, Jesus gives and sustains eternal life to all believers. "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst." (John 6:35) As Jesus was accustomed, He used figurative language to emphasize these great spiritual truths. Jesus explains the sense of the entire passage when He says, "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." (John 6:63)

The literal interpretation is absurd, leading to cannibalism and the drinking of blood contrary to the commandment of God. No eating of any flesh can give spiritual life. By faith we partake of Christ, and the benefits of His bodily sacrifice on the cross and His shed blood, receiving and enjoying eternal life. Eating and drinking is not with the mouth and the digestive organs of our bodies, but the reception of God’s grace by believing in Christ, as He makes abundantly clear by repeating the same truths both in metaphoric and plain language. Compare for example the following two verses:

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life" (verse 47).

"He who eats this bread will live forever" (verse 58).

"He who believes" in Christ is equivalent to “he who eats this bread” because the result is the same, eternal life. The parallel is also obvious between verses 40 and 54:

"Everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day" (verse 40).

"Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day" (verse 54).

John 6 does not afford any support to the false Roman Catholic doctrine of transubstantiation. On the contrary, it is an emphatic statement on the primacy of faith as the means by which we receive the grace of God. Jesus is the Bread of Life; we eat of Him and are satisfied when we believe in Him.

Bread represents the "staff of life." Sustenance. That which essential to sustain life. Just as bread or sustenance is necessary to maintain physical life, Jesus is all the sustenance necessary for spiritual life.

The source of physical life is blood -- "life is in the blood." As with the bread, just as blood is the empowering or source of life physically, Jesus is all the source of spiritual life necessary.

As Jesus said, it is the spirit which gives life. The words I speak are spirit and they are life.
