Jesus brought MORE than the Book of the Law.

He is the Manna from Heaven. The Law written in our hearts is Agape love and anything done out of that love God has placed in our hearts is lawful, good and just.

Why do people seek to place burdens and chains upon others that Jesus removed?
Sadly, this forum seems full of these very people...
Thankfully not a quorum though!

Indeed this is the NEW Covanant promise which is made to GOD's ISRAEL who are those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW the WORD of GOD.

Matthew 5
17,
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
18, For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19, Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20, For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

27, You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not commit adultery:
28, But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

.......................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN not BELIEVING God's WORD will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

.......................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12).

If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).
Don't you know that the whole law can be summarized in one word? LOVE
When Jesus said that His yoke is lighter, He meant exactly that- LOVE. It is the only requirement we need to abide to, if you love, you have kept the sabath.

Galatians 5:14
The entire Law is fulfilled in a single decree: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

Matt 29:37Jesus declared, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor asyourself.’ 40All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments.”

Some people don't know what Agape love is but only know love in terms of the kind the world exchanges with one another.

Now GNP where are your scriptures? Are you speaking your own words again over God's WORD? Now where is Sola Scriptura?

Ok you want to talk investigative judgement. Let's share scripture....

PART 1/2

INVESTIGATIVE JUDGMENT

Who will be judged?

Psa 7:11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

Eccl 3:17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
Rom 14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
2 Cor 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Acts 10:42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick [living] and dead.
2 Tim 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick [living] and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
Heb 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

Answer: Everyone, both the righteous and wicked, the living and dead, will be judged.

What will be the standard of Judgment?

1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
1 John 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
1 John 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

James 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
Eccl 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
Eccl 12:14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1 John 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Answer: The 10 commandments of God are the standard of judgment.

Who is judged first, the righteous or the wicked?

1 Pet 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

1 Tim 5:24 Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
1 Tim 5:25 Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

Answer: The righteous believers are judged first and rewarded, and then later the wicked are sentenced and condemned.

Who is the presiding Judge?

The courtroom scene in Daniel:

Dan 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down [set in place], and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
Dan 7:10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: ...

A similar scene in Revelation:

Rev 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit; and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
Rev 4:3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

Rev 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
Rev 5:7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

Rev 5:11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

Answer: The Ancient of Days (God the Father). Jesus is the Lamb who takes the book from the hand of Father on the throne.

Who is our Advocate (Defense Attorney) in the Judgment of the professed Saints?

Heb 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God [the Father] for us:

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Answer: Jesus Christ is our Defense Attorney before God the Father.

Who is the Accuser (Prosecuting Attorney) of the professed Saints?

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Answer: Satan is the Accuser (Prosecuting Attorney).

How will evidence be given in the Judgment of the professed Saints?

Dan 7:10 ... the judgment was set, and the books were opened.

Mal 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
Mal 3:17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

Exo 32:33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
Heb 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Rev 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.
Rev 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

Answer: The record books of heaven on the professed saints will be opened in evidence before the court: the Lamb's book of life, and the book of remembrance of their deeds in service to the Lord, faithfully recorded by witnessing angels. The book with 7 seals in Revelation chapters 5 thru 8 is the Lamb's book of life (Phil. 4:3, Rev. 3:5, 13:8, 17:8, 20:12,15, 21:27, 22:19). It is the last will and testament of Jesus Christ (Heb. 9:14-17), the new covenant, that lists those who will inherit eternal life and the kingdom of God. When the reading of the Lamb's book of life ends, probation for humanity has come to a close, as all those who inherit have been identified.

God does not need to keep books for Himself, but rather they are kept for others who do not have His omniscience. These books are available to the heavenly hosts in the court for their investigation, that they may know that God is just.

What events follow the beginning of the Investigative Judgment of the professed Saints?

Dan 7:10 ... the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
Dan 7:11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
Dan 7:12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
Dan 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
Dan 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

2 Th 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Answer: In Daniel 7 the destruction of the little horn power comes after the opening of the books for the judgment of the Saints. So the books are opened for investigation, and judgment begins before the Second Advent, which is when the little horn / antichrist will be consumed. This judgment then is rightly called a Pre-advent Investigative Judgment. The kingdom parable of the wedding of the King's Son in Matt 22:1-13 illustrates this clearly when the King examines the wedding guests for the garment that He provided. Those not wearing the wedding garment are not permitted to attend the wedding supper, and are cast into outer darkness instead. This parable refers to the wedding supper of the Lamb, and the garment is Christ's righteousness, which is provided to those with faith. This examination, or judgment for fitness to attend the wedding supper, precedes the second coming, which is when the goats will be separated from the sheep.

Is there a specific day set for the revelation of God's judgment?

Acts 17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Rom 2:5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
Rom 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Answer: A day has indeed been appointed for the judgment of God to be revealed.

When is that day of judgment, when the Saints of God are judged righteous and rewarded by inheriting the Kingdom of God forever?

Mat 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
Mat 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
Mat 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

John 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
Acts 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

2 Tim 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick [living] and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
Rev 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
Rev 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Rev 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

(This warning that the hour of judgment is come; precedes the second coming, and warns those living that their judgment is underway, but will soon come to a close.)

Answer: The Saints will have been judged righteous before the second coming of Jesus (Mat 25:31), which is when the righteous (sheep) and the wicked (goats) will be forever separated, and God's judgment revealed, and His true Saints rewarded with eternal life.

What is the fate of the living wicked at the second coming of Jesus Christ?

Mat 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
Mat 13:42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Mat 13:43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Mat 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,
Mat 13:50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Rev 19:21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse (Jesus), which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Answer: At the second coming of Jesus the living wicked will all be slain.

Will anyone's fate be changed after the Pre-advent Investigative Judgment of the Saints and the second coming of Jesus Christ?

Rev 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
Rev 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

Answer: Everyone's fate will have been decided by the court of heaven before the second coming of Jesus, and nothing will change the verdict after the Pre-advent Investigative Judgment of the Saints has concluded (the close of probation). While only the books regarding the Saints of God have been examined in the Pre-advent Investigative Judgment, the wicked stand condemned by not having sought the defense of the righteousness of Jesus Christ, so their sins are not covered by Christ's righteousness, and they must bear responsibility for their own sins.

What is the reward of the faithful and righteous Saints of God?

Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Answer: The Saints of God will be rewarded with access to the tree of life, and by eating the fruit thereof, they will live forever. (The wicked, who will never be given access to the tree of life, will be denied eternal life, so they must perish.)

continuing....
I have just carefully read through this part and as far as my understanding find it in perfect scriptural order !!!

LGF wants everyone to believe that he, and by extension the SDA Church believes in salvation by grace through faith, but that is quite false.
The SDA Church STRONGLY believes in works salvation!
One has to follow the teachings and practice of the SDA Church including keeping the Sabbath.
They do not teach assurance of salvation.
The ridiculous doctrine of investigative judgment apparently means that Jesus judges according to their obedience to these various doctrines.

This doctrine of investigative judgement is a foundational doctrine of the SDA belief system tied to the establishing of the SDA Church in 1844. This doctrine was an invention of Ellen G. White that came about when the pastor of a Baptist church by the name of William Miller predicted the return of Jesus Christ for October 22, 1844. A group of believers called Millerites sold their homes and possessions and resigned their jobs in anticipation of this event. It did not happen!
Most of the Millerites realised the folly of their position and returned back to Baptist congregations.

However, many stung by pride decided that while Miller might have been wrong in some respects he was not in others. Led by Hiram Edson they decided that the interpretation of Daniel 8:14 meant only that Jesus Christ's entrance into the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary rather than his Second Coming.
Over several decades, led primarily by Ellen G. White and her writings this incredible comedy of errors morphed into the doctrine of the investigative judgement.

I get that most people have not investigated the SDA Church to this extent - but be sure of this:
* The SDA Church DOES NOT believe in salvation by grace through faith!
*They strongly believe in works salvation - just read posts from LGF nailing down the absolute requirement to follow the law and keep the Sabbath as defined by the SDA!
*The doctrine of investigative judgement where Jesus Christ apparently judges us for our obedience to the law and Sabbath-keeping is a direct consequence of the debacle of a failed prophesy in 1844. According to this doctrine it was in 1844 that Jesus Christ entered into
the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary to begin his work of second judgement.
*Even more telling is the fact that William Miller himself recognised his errors and returned to orthodox Christianity.

And now we have LGF, in all his glory, telling us all about our failures and doctrinal insufficiencies!
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!!!

LGF talks of salvation by grace through faith yet his footnotes expose the lies.........
Amen! LGF and SDA's in general play the same game in salvation as every other false movement of Christendom. They profess to teach that salvation is by grace through faith, but then redefine this in a way that is contrary to the Truth. Even though they deny this, they teach that salvation is by "grace plus law, faith plus works." *Their doctrine of salvation is a subtle mixture of law and grace that is a perversion of the Gospel. (Galatians 1:6-9). :(

God’s Law has always been part of the true Gospel of Christ. The counterfeit Gospel does not have it. God's forever Law (the 10 commandments) is the foundation of both the Old and the New Covenant and the very foundation and basis of the true Gospel of Christ.

God tells us that when we work we do it for Him and Jesus says it's okay to do God's work on the Sabbath.

Colossians 3:23 ►
New International Version
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,

New Living Translation
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

English Standard Version
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,

Berean Study Bible
Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men,

Berean Literal Bible
Whatever you might do, work from the soul, as to the Lord and not to men,

New American Standard Bible
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,

King James Bible
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
So your saying that you believe the scriptures you quote above mean that it is ok to break God's 4th Commandment? Yet the scriptures you quote above do not even mention God's 4th Commandment or the Sabbath?

It is time to leave Sunday school dear. Sola Scriptura where can we find it? Are we following God's WORD (Sola Scriptura/Jesus) or the traditions of men handed down by the Romans Catholic Church?

Who do you follow? God's Word or the Catholic Church?

Only God's Word is true and we should believe and follow him who calls us in LOVE to LOVE another.

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

Have you come to Mount Zion, the heavenly Jerusalem?

Or do you still worship on Mount Sinai?

*******

Hebrews 12
12Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, 13and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. 14Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. 15See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; 16that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal. 17For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears.

A Kingdom That Cannot Be Shaken

18For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire and darkness and gloom and a tempest 19and the sound of a trumpet and a voice whose words made the hearers beg that no further messages be spoken to them. 20For they could not endure the order that was given, “If even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.” 21Indeed, so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I tremble with fear.” 22But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, 23and to the assemblya of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, 24and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
Nope none of that says God's 4th Commandment has now been ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to keep SUNDAY as a Holy day. Or does it say EVERYDAY is a SABBATH that we are not to work on.

Only God's WORD is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW it. (Sola Scriptura - Jesus)

Where does it say in God's Word that God's Sabbath should be kept EVERYDAY?
********

Hebrews 4 English Standard Version (ESV)
4 Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it. 2 For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened.[a] 3 For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said,

“As I swore in my wrath,
‘They shall not enter my rest,’”

although his works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.” 5 And again in this passage he said,

“They shall not enter my rest.”

6 Since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience, 7 again he appoints a certain day, “Today,” saying through David so long afterward, in the words already quoted,

“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.”

8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken of another day later on. 9 So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, 10 for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.

11 Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Hello Ariel,

Let's ask the question again as you have not answered it above...

Where in those scriptures does it say God's Sabbath is EVERYDAY? Please read post # 7 which shows scripture that says God's SABBATH is the 7th DAY of the WEEK that GOD BLESSED and set aside as a HOLY DAY that NO WORK secular WORK was to be carried out.

How can EVERYDAY be God's SABBATH? If that was the case NO WORK WOULD BE DONE BY ANYONE.

Now how can GOD'S SABBATH be EVERYDAY when GOD SAYS his SABBATH is the 7th DAY (Gen 3:1-3; Exo 20:8-11) ?

ONCE again please show us the scriptures that say GOD'S SABBATH is EVERYDAY?

Hebrews 4 does NOT say THE SABBATH that GOD says is the 7th DAY is EVERYDAY!

Ok lets look at Hebrews 3-4

...................

HEBREWS 3-4 IS A WARNING TO BELIEVE AND FOLLOW GOD'S WORD TO ENTER GOD'S SABBATH REST

Hebrews 3
8,
Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9, When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10, Why I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
11, So I swore in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.
12, Take heed, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13, But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14, For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end;
15, While it is said, To day if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16, For some, when they had heard, did provoke: however, not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17, But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the wilderness?
18, And to whom swore he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
19, So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

WHAT REST ARE WE TALKING ABOUT HERE?

Hebrews 4
1,
Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2, For to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3, For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4, For he spoke in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5, And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

God's REST is the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH REST OF CREATION (v4-5). Those who BELIEVE GOD's WORD enter into God's SABBATH REST as GOD does on the SEVENTH DAY of the week.

6, Seeing therefore it remains that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7, Again, he limits a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if you will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8, For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9, There remains a SABBATH REST to the people of God.
10, For he that is entered into his rest (SABBATH REST), he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11, Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

....................

Now let's compare Matthew 11:28-30 with Hebrews 4.....

Mattehew 11
28,
Come to me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29, Take my yoke on you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest to your souls.
30, For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

STRONGS GREEK REST meaning; G373 ἀναπαύω anapauo (a-na-pav'-ō) v.
1. (reflexively) to repose, to rest.
2. (literally or figuratively) to be exempt, to remain.
3. (by implication) to refresh.
[from G303 and G3973]
KJV: take ease, refresh, (give, take) rest
Root(s): G303, G3973

G303
ἀνά ana (a-na') prep.
1. (properly) up.
2. (by extension, used distributively) amidst or severally, etc.
3. (by implication, as a prefix) (it often means) repetition (again), intensity, reversal, etc.
4. apiece.
5. (of combined motion) back.
6. (with G3319) through (the midst).

G3973 παύω pauo (pav'-ō) v.
to stop, i.e. restrain, quit, desist, come to an end.
{transitively or intransitively}
[a primary verb (“pause”)]
KJV: cease, leave, refrain

....................

Now compare this GREEK word used here to the one used in Hebrews 4:9...

Hebrews 4
9, There remains a SABBATH REST to the people of God.

The GREEk Word used here is different.

STRONGS GREEK/HEBERW REST meaning of Hebrews 4:9;
G4520 σαββατισμός sabbatismos (sab-ba-tiz-mos') n.
1. a “sabbatism.”
2. (figuratively) the repose of Christianity (as a type of heaven).

[from a derivative of G4521] σάββατον sabbaton (saɓ'-ɓa-ton) n.
1. the Sabbath (i.e. Shabbath).
2. a day of weekly repose from secular avocations.
3. the observance or institution itself.
4. (by extension) a week, i.e. the interval between two Sabbaths.
5. likewise the plural in all the above applications.

[of Hebrew origin (H7676)]
שַׁבָּת shabbath (shab-bawth') n-e.
1. intermission, a period of temporary rest.
2. (specifically) the Sabbath, the seventh day being the day of rest.

[intensive from H7673]
H7673 שָׁבַת shabath (shaw-ɓath') v.
to repose, i.e. to cease from exertion.
{used in many implied relations (causative, figurative or specific)}
[a primitive root] KJV: (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep sabbath, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

....................

As you can see from the differentGREEK words used in Matthew 11:28 and Hebrews 4:9 both words are indeed different and have a different application.

Both are similar referring to rest but the word REST in Hebrews 4:9 in is reference "Sabbatismos" which is the "REST"specifically found in God's Sabbath the 4th Commandment that refers right back the Hebrew WORD used for rest in Genesis 2.

Let's look at the origin of the Sabbath and God's 4th Commandment...

Genesis 2
1,
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2, And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3, And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

[intensive from H7673]
H7673 שָׁבַת shabath (shaw-ɓath') v.
to repose, i.e. to cease from exertion.
{used in many implied relations (causative, figurative or specific)}
[a primitive root] KJV: (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep sabbath, suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

The above HEBREW meaning is the base root of Sabbatismos from the GREEK word used in Hebrews 4:9 which is referring right back to the origin of God's Sabbath in Genesis 2 and God's 4th Commandment in Exodus 20:8-11.

The meraning here is the REST that comes specifically from BELIEVING and OBEYING Gods WORD' from God's 4th Commandment Sabbath. This is the SABBATH rest according to the commandment.

......................

You have no peace because you do not BELIEVE and FOLLOW God's WORD. We ONLY have rest in Christ if we BELIEVE and FOLLOW Jesus. Those who are still in their SINS do not KNOW God and are like the troubled see that have no peace.

Isaiah 57
20,
But the wicked (SINNERS) are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
21, There is no peace, said my God, to the wicked.

1 John 2
3,
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4, He that said, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

.......................

Jesus brought MORE than the Book of the Law.

He is the Manna from Heaven. The Law written in our hearts is Agape love and anything done out of that love God has placed in our hearts is lawful, good and just.

Why do people seek to place burdens and chains upon others that Jesus removed?
If you have God's LAW written on your heart to LOVE by FAITH then you will fulfill God's LAW. If you are breaking God's LAW then you do not KNOW him that calls you in LOVE to LOVE another.

...............

Romans 13
8,
Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loves another has fulfilled the law.
9, For this, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not kill, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, You shall not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, namely, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
10,
Love works no ill to his neighbor: THERFORE LOVE IS THE FULFILLING OF GOD'S LAW.

1 John 2
3,
And by this we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4, He that says, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

...............
Only God's WORD is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW it. (Sola Scriptura - Jesus)

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

I agree with this part. What day is the Lord's day? Every day.
Where is your Sola Scriptura? The LORD'S DAY does not say EVERYDAY it is a DAY (singular) God's says it is the SABBATH DAY; THE 7th DAY (Gen 3:1-3; Exo 20:8-11); Jesus says...

MATTHEW 12:8 FOR THE SON OF MAN IS LORD OF THE SABBATH DAY (Sola Scriptura)

Where is the Word of God Ariel? Who do we follow God's WORD or the Roman Catholic Church?

In the Old you worshipped one day out of seven, in the New you worship EVERY DAY AND PRAY WITHOUT CEASING.
Sola Scritpura; Where does it say in the scriptures that in the OLD COVENANT they worship one day in seven?

However if we follow what the Bible says about both topics it's clearly NOT.
So far you have not presented ANYTHING from God's WORD to support your OP. Sola Scriptura where have you gone?
Who do we follow the Word of God (Sola Scriptura - Jesus) or the traditions handed down by the Roman Catholic Church?

It only seem impossible when we are false legalistic understandings to scripture such as condemning people who chose to worship on Sunday.
If you feel condemned by God's WORD harden not your heart. These are God's WORDS not mine. I am no one God's WORD is all and above all. If you hear God's WORD it is God's Spirit speaking with you through his WORD because he wants to have a closer walk with you. Jesus knows many do not follow him out of ignorance because it is what they have been taught by men. He gives us a KNOWLEDGE of the truth so that we can follow him.

What shall we do? Shall we follow Jesus (the WORD) or follow the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church that has led many to break the commandment of God? Like the children in the wilderness of Hebrews 3-4 we can choose to follow God or not follow him.

It is in the,Bible that the disciples meet and worshipped together on Sunday, Sat and any other day God moved them to come together.
The disciples meeting together on any day of the week is not a commandment of God. If we break God's LAW we commit SIN. Those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into God's KINGDOM.

Your hatred of the Catholic church has blinded you.
It is actually the opposite. It is because he first LOVED me that I am now free to LOVE another. I have come to call his Sheep. He must increase and I must decrease. He is all and in all. What he shows me in secret I must preach on the housetops. Many are called but few are chosen because dark and narrow is the way. It is hard to see when your lamp goes out. God's sheep hear his voice (the Word)

...............

Only God's WORD is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW it. (Sola Scriptura - Jesus)
Who are we following Jesus or the Roman Catholic Church? It's time to leave Sunday School. Jesus is calling us out to follow him in Spirit and in truth.

................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

Absolutely Jesus says on the two great commandments of LOVE hang ALL the LAW and the PROPHETS as does PAUL and JAMES

LOVE IS THE FULFILLING OF GOD’S LAW

You cannot separate God’s Law of love from the 10 commandments because they are connected to each other. There is no need for confusion here. God’s Word makes it very clear.

Let's have a look................................................

What does Jesus say when he talk about the commandments. Jesus is quoting from Old testament scriptures of Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18.................

Matthew 22
36, Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37, Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38, This is the first and great commandment.
39, And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
40, ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS HANG ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS.

Let's get clearer......................................................

Matthew 19
16, And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17, And he said unto him, Why call thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: BUT IF YOU WILL ENTER INTO LIFE KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS.
18, He saith unto him, WHICH? JESUS SAID, THOU SHALT NOT MURDER, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL, THOU SHALT NOT LIE, HONOR YOU MOTHER AND FATHER AND THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF
20, The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? 21, Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. <Jesus showed him that he may have fulfilled His duty of love to his neighbor but not to God breaking commandment 1 and 2 loving riches more than God>

Well Jesus makes it very clear that what he is talking about it is the 10 commandments of God's Law.

What about James................................................................

James 2
8, If ye fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF, ye do well:
9, But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
10, FOR WHOSOEVER SHALL KEEP THE WHOLE LAW AND YET OFFEND IN ONE POINT, HE SHALL BE GUILTY OF ALL.
11, FOR HE THAT SAID, DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY SAID ALSO DO NOT KILL. NOW IF YOU DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY AND YOU KILL, YOU HAVE BECOME A TRANSGRESSOR OF GOD'S LAW.

12, So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

Well James makes it very clear what he is talking about when he talks about the Royal Law of love. He is talking about the 10 commandments. So Jesus and James both agree that they are talking about God's 10 commandments which also include the 4th commandment which is one of the ten.

What about Paul? He wrote a lot of books in God's Word...........................

Romans 13
8, Owe no man anything, but to LOVE ONE ANOTHER: for HE THAT LOVES ANOTHER HAS FULFILLED THE LAW.
9, For this, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, THOU SHALT NOT KILL, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL, THOU SHALT NOT LIE, THOU SHALT NOT COVET; and IF THERE SHALL BE ANY OTHER COMMANDMENT, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF.
10, Love works no ill to his neighbor: therefore LOVE IS THE FULFILLING OF THE LAW.

Paul makes it very clear what he is talking about as well when he is talking about God's Law. It seems like Jesus, James and Paul all agree together what it is they are referring to when talking about God's Law. They are all referring to God's 10 commandments which includes the 4th commandment which is one of the ten (Exodus 20:1-17)

...............

Only God's WORD is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW it. (Sola Scriptura - Jesus)

................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

................

Jesus says that if
we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

It is written that Christ is a stumbling stone (1 Peter 2:8). Some people stumble at the 4th commandment. It's obvious how commandments 1-3, 5-10 are fulfilled by the two greatest commandments to love GOD and love our neighbors, but it's not so obvious how the 4th commandment is fulfilled by the greatest commandment to love GOD. Those who stumble twist things around to say that if you love GOD you will not work on Saturdays. But that's putting the cart before the horse - it's a work of righteousness trying to justify/sanctify ourselves.

What was the purpose of the law? Was it the outward observance of commandments, or doing the righteousness required by them? Obviously the latter according to the gospel of grace. What is the righteousness required by the 4th commandment? Scripture plainly tells us.

You are to speak to the people of Israel and say, ‘Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the LORD, sanctify you. Exodus 31:13

Also I gave them My sabbaths to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them. Ezekiel 20:12

So sabbaths are a sign that GOD is the one who is sanctifying us (making us holy). Trusting GOD to sanctify us - instead trying to do it ourselves through works of law - is doing the righteousness required by the 4th commandment. So it is a matter of conduct governed by faith rather than paying attention to what we do on certain days.

So keeping sabbath is resting from our own works of trying to sanctify ourselves by doing commandments of law, and trusting GOD to sanctify us through his spirit.

It is written that Christ is a stumbling stone (1 Peter 2:8). Some people stumble at the 4th commandment.
Sola Scriptura; where does it say in God's Word some people stumble at God's 4th Commandment?

It's obvious how commandments 1-3, 5-10 are fulfilled by the two greatest commandments to love GOD and love our neighbors, but it's not so obvious how the 4th commandment is fulfilled by the greatest commandment to love GOD.
It is obvious if you BELIEVE God's WORD LOVE is the fulfilling (doing) of God's LAW in those who BELIEVE (Romans 13:8-10). That is why Jesus says if you LOVE me keep my commandments (John 14:15)

Those who stumble twist things around to say that if you love GOD you will not work on Saturdays. But that's putting the cart before the horse - it's a work of righteousness trying to justify/sanctify ourselves.
If you are doing so without LOVE and Jesus then it cannot be done. As said earlier it only because of GRACE through FAITH and NOT of ourselves it is God's GIFT and NOT of WORKS lest anyman should boast that makes us free to LOVE another as he first LOVED us. Now was a free to FOLLOW him not because we have to, or to earn our salvation, but because we LOVE God and seek to FOLLOW him who calls us in LOVE to LOVE another. LOVE is the FULFILLING of God's LAW in those who BELIEVE.

So it is a matter of conduct governed by faith rather than paying attention to what we do on certain days.
Agree with most of this last section of your post. Just the last sentence is a little misleading for some I think.

As mentioned earlier we are ONLY SAVED by GRACE through FAITH and NOT of OURSELVES it is indeed a GIFT of GOD and not of WORKS lest any man should boast.

However if your FAITH does not have the FRUIT of OBEDIENCE then you are still in your SINS because you have not received the GIFT of God's dear son (Romans 6:23; James 2:18-20; 26). If your tree has NO FRUIT then it is cast down and thrown into the FIRE (Matt 7:12-23; Hebrews 10:26-27)

Many do not know why God has given us GRACE AND FAITH....

WHAT IS GRACE FOR?

Romans 1
5, By whom we have received GRACE and apostleship, FOR OBEDIENCE TO THE FAITH among all nations, for his name.

Romans 6
1, What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. 2, How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

DOES FAITH ABOLISH GOD'S LAW?

Romans 3
31,
Do we then ABOLISH THE LAW THROUGH FAITH? GOD FORBID: YES, WE ESTABLISH THE LAW.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THOSE WHO CONTINUE IN SIN ONCE THEY RECEIVE A KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH?

Hebrews 10
26,
For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,
27, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)

Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

So keeping sabbath is resting from our own works of trying to sanctify ourselves by doing commandments of law, and trusting GOD to sanctify us through his spirit.
God WORD says he is not sanctifying those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN as those who practice SIN do not KNOW God or have his SPIRIT.

God has many true Christian however in all Churches that are following God the best they can. Many break God's LAW out of IGNORANCE and in times of ignorance God winks at. But when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth is COME calls all men everywhere to repent and BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD.

..............

ACTS 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to them that obey him.

1 JOHN 2
3,
And by this we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4, He that says, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

................

Jesus says that if
we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

The 10 commandments are the law of Moses. Gentiles have never been, and never will be, under the law of Moses. That was the law of the old covenant which has passed away.

The law of the new covenant is love GOD and love our neighbors, but is really summarized in one commandment - love your neighbor as yourself. That is the whole purpose and fulfillment of the law of Moses. That law has been written on our hearts. When we obey it we are well pleasing to GOD.

Whatever is done not out of faith is sin (Romans 14:23), and the law isn't done out of faith (Galatians 3:12).

If days are not appointed ,then why did God make it clear to the Israelites to do things on certain days of the seven day period(week?)
The issue isn't about what the Christ said, or commanded, or created before becoming a Man. It is about defending religious traditions of men.

John 5:17-18

But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
Jesus said the Mainstream Preachers of His time, who transgressed the Commandments of God by their own man made religious traditions, were liars, hypocrites, and children of satan. He said they "Taught for doctrines the Commandments of men" (Not God)

I am always fascinated by how you take the Pharisees and their religious traditions over Jesus. How you believe them, over what Jesus said.

I have asked this question of you before and of course you ignored it. But I will ask again.

Where did God/Jesus ever make it a sin to help a brother in need on His Sabbath? Where did Jesus/God ever make it a sin to walk in fellowship with God and eat a strawberry, or blueberry, or ear of corn on His Sabbath?
