The eternal question...why did God make carbs taste so good. Cake and pasta both are loaded with carbs. God is so good.
Bread and pasta are my weaknesses. I also like to bake, so of course I have to test 1, or 2, or 3... :)

You got me thinking about the tongue, so maybe it's actually relevant for this thread :)

The tongue is small, but it does the most harm. It cannot be trusted, and the scriptures say that no man can tame it. We know that all things flow from the heart. The tongue takes what's in our heart and attacks with words. Not only does it have the ability to speak evil words, but also deceive us by making junk food taste so great, lol, so continual eating of what the tongue says is great will send you into an early grave! The tongue wants pasta (and red wine), lol. You can however expose it to healthy food, so your taste buds will eventually change as a result.

James 3:1-12: "My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.

See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh"

My sentiments exactly.

Practice what you preach. False teachers in this passage are claiming to do good works and that is why they demand entrance into the kingdom. They never came to Christ and confessed their need of grace to be saved.

Jesus said the will of the Father was to believe in Him. John 6:40 Is Jesus speaking.

You cannot obey Him until you know Him. Knowing comes first then obedience. Water flows out not in. The foundation is the chief cornerstone rejected by the builders.

Obedience out of obligation is not what God seeks. Obedience out of a heart that needs to be close to Him a heart that relies on the strength of God for each breath is what God is pleased in. Surrender to Him and cease from your boasting.

For the cause of Christ
Roger
Been no evidence of your understanding thus far......but, keep trying......who knows? There is always hope.

Not once have I boasted about anything. So, again you lie about what I have said here. That is becoming a pattern with you isn't it......

And, you continue to ignore what I have said so many times........here, let me try once more, and see if you can understand this time......

To be obedient to Christ, one must first be saved.

I have repeatedly said that here on many posts, yet you and the others deny what I have said.

I already addressed "the Will of the Father." You have also ignored that, and pretend that I have said something different. Are you an honest person or not?

Here, since you ignored it the first time, let us try again:

How can you possibly be that narrow in your thinking? How do you suppose one can be obedient WITHOUT FAITH? How do you suppose one can obediently do Gods will WITHOUT BEING PREPARED TO DO SO BY THE HOLY SPIRIT?

Obedience to Christ IS ONLY ACHIEVED BY BELIEVING IN HIM! Without belief/faith.......there IS NO OBEDIENCE

Again. I understand perfectly. The only thing we need to be obedient about for Salvation is the Gospel.

Matthew 7:21 applies to everyone who attempts to attain Salvation by THEIR obedience (works) in ANY other way. That you incorporate it in this tagline displays a dependence on YOUR works. Jesus NEVER knew them. NOT that He knew them at one time and then they did something to unborn themselves. This is similar to how the Bible speaks in the OT of a man "knowing" his wife. When he knew his wife a new creation was formed in her womb. Jesus NEVER "knew", or made them a NEW CREATION!

It is ALWAYS about what JESUS did and who JESUS is, NOT what WE do. HE KEEPS US SAVED!

Why can't so many just understand this:
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Once we are born again, we are Children of God, sealed by the Holy Spirit. HE will work in us to transform us into the likeness of Jesus, and WE will do the works HE prepared for us.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Truly sad.............you do not understand what I and a couple of others here have been saying since this Thread began......but you have done a good job of plagiarizing what we have posted. See in red

I have posted that exact Scripture 4 or 5 times thus far, and the naysayers ignore it. And, apparently, you have not read through the Thread to actually KNOW what has been posted.

So, you DO NOT understand, but, keep trying

Sure He did...Paul gives them out everywhere.... Other Apostles also give them out....While we are not under the LAW and the Ten Commandments, we do have commandments Jesus expect us to comply with.
I liked it because you make a good point, however, I disagree on the 10 Commandments. They are still in effect, and while some believe they fall under the Two Greatest Christ gave us, either way, they are still in effect for the Church.

But, you did make a good point.

It's OK to blame me I can take it.

That explains a lot.

In your little book of facts you might want to mark down that I'm not a Calvinist. Not Arminian either but I do believe that you must see yourself as lost before you can get saved.

For the cause of Christ
Roger
I hate terms like calvinist and arminian. Just about the time you peg someone into these cubbyholes, they go and do something totally opposite of that.

And yes, you must acknowledge you are lost before you can be saved.

LOL, was that around 1985? I was there, Dennis Agajanian was sitting right behind my fiance and I.
No that would have been '62. I think. There's at least one person here who thinks I'm not saved yet ;)

His obedience our salvation.......it is He who is our righteousness right?

Still......our obedience is very necessary..........we ALL have a purpose, we were purposed by God Himself
Our obedience is important but it is built on His imputed (reckoned) righteousness to our account.

How does this differ from what I said in Post #322?

Curious........ :)

You may be surprised to know some of the things in Scripture that are not Gods Will....

The Great Commission
Water Baptism
Communion
Caring for the sick and elderly
Visiting the widows and orphans
Praying to Him
Laying on hands and praying for a fellow believer
Congregational Worship
Individual worship
Singing praises to Him
Doing the work of an Evangelist
Preaching
Pastoring
Teaching
Raising children to love God
Using the Gifts the Spirit gives us
Loving your neighbor
Loving your enemy
Fasting
Edifying the Church
Distributing to the necessity of the Saints

I am sure there are more, but these should help us to better understand what Gods will for us is and how to properly please Him by doing His will. Hope this helps

I think I get what you want someone to say now...you want someone to say it is His will that we keep trusting and relying on Him and His work in us and then these things are a result of His work in us.

Why do you think that other people think, and obviously they really do think it, that you do not understand that those things are all results of Him in us?

Absolutely. Have said so numerous times here on this very thread! Again and again, I have said that we can do nothing unless we are saved and allow the Holy Spirit to empower us to do what He has purposed us to do. But, I guess I was wrong.....

However, I learned yesterday that these things are not His Will......so I am trying to determine exactly what they are.
I have been reading what other people think, and that is why I posted this list. Do you think it will simplify things if we understand what is His will and what isn't? That way, we can focus on what is important, and not concern ourselves with those things that are not His will. Is that right?

What the heck is WRONG with terriers??? They are stubborn and fearless to the point of stupidity.
I seem to remember some jews at the time of Christ being the same way. Sadly, many who claim to be part of the church are just as fearless..

I stated Christ was the rock! Why do you thing I wrote it this way?

ROCK

you are a lost cause

You wonder why I don't pay attention to your comments? It is because you can not understand the simplest of statements!

Jesus IS THE ROCK.......what I SAID!

We build our spiritual house ON HIM.......and that secures our eternity

Doesn't matter how many times it is explained to you, you will not understand..........good grief

Context of your response, was some one saying we are secure in christ. Not in our works.

We are secure in our salvation, at the very moment we believe and accept Jesus as our Savior. :) Works do NOTHING to secure our salvation, or to make us FEEL secure in our salvation. We can do all the works we want, but it won't get us into heaven..
Your response.

Please tell me why Jesus would teach the Parable in Matthew, Chapter 7 about the wise man who built his house on the ROCK?

Your argument is with Christ, not me..........
So she said our foundation was Christ not works

You responded by saying Jesus said our foundation is on the rock.

Then claimed her argument was with Christ not you.

You lost your own argument because you either did not read a word she said, Or as usual you just are so out to get people who are against you, You just can't stop.

If you were really saying Christ was the foundation, You would have AGREED WITH HER, not MOCKED her and said her argument is with God. *because that is exactly what she said, Her foundation was in SALVATION in CHRIST HER SAVIOR, not works.

No. You do not like me because I am not afraid to point out areas where you are mistaken, or not afraid to say I disagree with you.

Maybe one day you will see. (I say this sincerely)

Well, apparently you DO NOT understand........sigh........goodness
The OP was NEVER about works........and you and others try as you might want to discredit it by lying about that.........so it si you guys who are doing all the "works" here.......

Obedience...............deal with the Scriptural reality of obedience...........try understanding that

BTW.......relying on Christ IS THE CORNERSTONE that obedience is built on.......it is HE WHO REQUIRES our obedience.

so.........clearly you do not understand, but, hey, thanks for playing
I know you do not understand,

But obedience = works..

works of the law is obedience to the law

Works of Christ is obedience to Christs commands (his law)

Maybe if you realise this, you will change your tone against people? because you realize not everyone is out to get you?

is it necessary to maintain salvation? Will we lose salvation if we become disobedient?

You are a joke......I stated that JESUS IS THE ROCK........it is He who we build our spiritual homes on....but, shoot, you go on making up stuff.......it's what you are good at
