If I don't take a break from this place soon, I'm going to end up saying what I really think.

The temptation to do so is overwhelming.

I feel the same way.

i get sick of people lieing about what others have said then thinking they can get away with it and attack people who are trying to help them see they do not understand what is being said.

i pray so hard people are not slandering on purpose knowingly, so i will not assume you have to womder sometims.

The lie that Ben and ohers state we do not have to confess our sins at all is for the birds, when will people repent and admit this is not what they are saying

instead they just want to ignore people who are tryi g to help them to make the problem go away.

and then they wonder why people talk to them they way they do,

we get sick if the no sense.

If people want to stop being confronted and being called liars and slanders, STOP doing it. Thats all it takes.

is it hard to say i made a mistake, i misunderstood you, i still disagree with you, but i was wrong in this one area? How can people call themselves children of God, then do these things? It baffles my mind. And it gives our creator, our savior and his children a bad name!

we have to consider answering a fool and throwing pearls as part of the equation. I have never said that before while thinking of those who say they are Christians.

the only trick, is do not read a post by someone you have on ignore. it won't work that way :p

And yes, I regularly refer to the NIV, KJV, and ESV when studying the Bible, as well as the Greek if I have a question about a definition or context.

As for the verse you picked, it's the same Hebrew word that's translated as 'repent' in the KJV, and it still means . . .

So if we're going to talk about how 'repent' applies in Scripture, we must be consistent. The meaning is consistent; context is consistent - for both God and man. 'Turn' is a different word, with a different meaning, and is in addition to/often a result of one's repentance.

No that would take away desired power, they rather tells us what we say gets old or that we are ranting and a multitude of other things.

sad isnt it Eg , a friend told me to be careful on this site , told me ( as a fairly new believer ) it would bring me down because of all the false teaching . Im starting to believe she was right :(

Do you think God didn't know what the devil was like and what he wanted to do?
Satan already said that he tried to attack Job and was unable to because God had placed a hedge of protection about him and all that he had.
How do you think the devil knew about the hedge?
God was just letting the devil know that the hedge of protection was down.

Job 1:10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
What I see from the record:

Job 1:7

The Lord said to satan - Where have you come from?

satan replied - from roaming the earth and walking up and down in it.

Recall that satan now has dominion over the earth. The dominion once given to man (Adam and Eve) was conferred to satan when Adam and Eve sinned.

So in Job 1:7 satan basically stated that he was patrolling that over which he had complete dominion.



Job 1:8 - 12

The Lord said - Have you considered Job, My servant? There is no one like him in all the earth ... blameless ... an upright man who fears God and turns away from evil.

The Lord reminds satan of Job, a man of great faith, and one who had not fallen under the dominion of satan.

satan cannot, nor will he ever, praise God or man. Rather than agree with God that Job was a righteous man, satan accused Job before God and said that if God would put forth His Hand to smite Job, Job would curse God.

satan is permitted limited access to Job.



Job 1:13-19


satan wreaks havoc on Job. Job’s possessions are destroyed, his children and his servants are killed.



Job 1:20-22

Job is devastated. Job tore his clothing and shaved his head as he mourned in his deep sorrow.

However, rather than curse God as satan had stated he would do, Job worshipped the Lord. Job blessed the Lord.

satan’s lie was exposed. Job exonerated himself and Job glorified God.



Again I reiterate - God granting limited access is not the same as God telling satan "go attack Job".


satan going after Job is all on satan. God did not sic satan on Job.

Job withstood the onslaught. Yes, Job was weak as we all are when we are under attack. Job provides insight into the workings of satan and the weakness of man when under attack.

We have much to learn from the book of Job.
