There is no one past, present, or yet to come that can compare to our Lord Jesus Christ.

"The character of Jesus stands out as the divinest monument of the Bible and the Gospels. Even men who do not believe in Him as we do have been compelled to acknowledge the grandeur and the loftiness of His incomparable life."
- A.B. Simpson, The Fourfold Gospel, Chapter 5

Jesus, Our Teacher

"None submit to Christ as their Teacher, but those who truly receive him as their Prophet, to teach them by his word and Spirit; giving up themselves to his teachings, sitting with Mary at Jesus' feet to hear his word; and hearkening more to his dictates, than those of their blind and deceitful lusts, and relying on his wisdom more than their own."
- Jonathan Edwards, The Works of Jonathan Edwards, Volume 1, pg 2451

"Remember who it is that is your Teacher: that he is the Son of God, that knoweth his Father's will, and is the most faithful, infallible Pastor of the church. There is neither ignorance, nor negligence, nor ambition, nor deceit in him, to cause him to conceal the mind of God. There is nothing which we need to know, which he is not both able and willing to acquaint us with. Remember what it is that he teacheth you, and to what end. That it is not how to sin and be damned, as the devil, the world, and the flesh would teach you; nor how to satisfy your lusts, or to know, or do, or attain the trifles of the world: but it is how to be renewed to the image of God, and how to do his will and please him, and how to be justified at his bar, and how to escape everlasting fire, and how to attain everlasting joys: consider this well, and you will gladly learn of such a Teacher."
- Richard Baxter, A Christian Directory, Chapter 3, pg 80

"If we are to preach the Atonement, we cannot allow either history or philosophy to proceed on the assumptions which ignore or degrade the fact of Christ. Only a person in whom the eternal has become historical can be the bearer of the Atonement, and it must be our first concern to show, against all assumptions whether made in the name of history or philosophy, that in point of fact there is such a person."
- James Denney, The Death of Christ, Chapter 7, pg 163

"What a stupendous miracle was accomplished when the Son of God came to earth to unite Himself with us in all our sin and suffering. He not only suffered, but also endured the judgment of a holy God, which we deserved. Yes, so completely did He identify Himself with us that He stooped to bear our curse. He gave His life and His blood on our behalf. And He made us eternally one with Himself in His resurrection and ascension and in the glory into which He entered upon the throne of God. We are so completely one with Him that throughout the whole universe we will be known as His body, the inseparable companion and sharer of His place in the heart of the Father."

O WORLD invisible, we view thee,
O world intangible, we touch thee,
O world unknowable, we know thee,

Incomprehensible, we clutch thee!

Does the fish soar to find the ocean,
The eagle plunge to find the air--
That we ask of the stars in motion
If they have rumor of thee there?

Not where the wheeling systems darken,
And our benumbed conceiving soars!--
The drift of pinions, would we hearken,
Beats at our own clay-shuttered doors.

The angels keep their ancient places--
Turn but a stone and start a wing!
'Tis ye, 'tis your estranged faces,
That miss the many splendored thing.

But (when so sad thou canst not sadder)
Cry--and upon thy so sore loss
Shall shine the traffic of Jacob's ladder
Pitched betwixt Heaven and Charing Cross.

Yea, in the night, my Soul, my daughter,
Cry--clinging to Heaven by the hems;
And lo, Christ walking on the water,
Not of Genesareth, but Thames!

"The cross tells us God is not indifferent to pain for in the Savior he experienced it!"
- A.W. Pink, The Seven Sayings of the Savior on the Cross, Chapter 5, pg 80

"In the passion Jesus is a rejected Messiah. His rejection robs the passion of its halo of glory. It must be a passion without honor. Suffering and rejection sum up the whole cross of Jesus."
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship, Chapter 4, pg 87

"When tribulation and sickness assail you, think how slight these are compared to the thorns and the nails of Christ. If you are thwarted, remember how he was bound and dragged. If pride bests you, see how the Lord was mocked and with robbers despised. If unchastity incites your flesh, recall how his flesh was scourged, pierced and smitten. If hate, envy, and vengeance tempt you, think how Christ for you and all his enemies interceded with tears, though he might rather have avenged himself."
- Martin Luther, Jesus Keep Me Near The Cross, pg 12-13

I put together this sermon excerpt video of my seven favorite preachers, all of which deal specifically with the person and work of Jesus Christ. The complete sermons have been a tremendous blessing for my devotion to Jesus, so I hope this excerpt video will also be a blessing to encourage others to greater heights of devotion to Christ. Enjoy!

In this video I put together some of the Scripture verses which describe the sorrows Jesus suffered through during the last 24 hours leading up to, and including, His crucifixion. I hope it can help humble us to know how much Jesus humbled Himself in order to embrace such sorrows on our behalf. The background music is the 8th century Latin hymn "Jesu Nostra Redemptio" performed in Gregorian chant.

I just uploaded to YouTube this intriguing two-part sermon series called "The Wickedness of the Crucifixion" by John MacArthur, in which he goes into detail regarding the facts of the crucifixion of Jesus, as well as pointing out the depths of our sin in light of it.

"Jesus will remain what He is; the King of life, of grace, and of salvation, whether He is believed on or not."
- Martin Luther, Complete Sermons of Martin Luther, Vol 1, pg 24-25

The Glory of Christ in Heaven

O, the delights , the heavenly joys
The glories of this place
Where Jesus sheds the brightest beams
Of his overflowing grace

Sweet majesty and awful love
Sit smiling on his brow
And all the glorious ranks above
At humble distance bow

Princes to his imperial name
Bend their bright scepters down
Dominions, thrones, and powers rejoice
To see him wear the crown

Archangels sound his lofty praise
Through every heavenly street
And lay their highest honors down
Submissive at his feet

Those soft, those blessed feet of his
That once rude iron tore
High on a throne of light they stand
And all the saints adore

His head, the dear majestic head
That cruel thorns did wound
See what immortal glories shine
And circle it around

This is the man, the exalted man
Whom we unseen adore
But when our eyes behold his face
Our hearts shall love him more

Lord, how our souls are all on fire
To see thy blessed abode
Our tongues rejoice in tunes of praise
To our incarnate God

And while our faith enjoys this sight
We long to leave our clay
And wish thy fiery chariots, Lord
To fetch our souls away

This is my favorite song of all time! I have a lot that I really like, but when I'm feeling down, I play this song on my Android and it instantly lifts my spirits. If you haven't heard it, please look it up. To me, it's so inspiring! I like it so much, it's my screen name on here. lol

Look What The Lord Has Done

CHORUS
Look what the Lord has done
Look what the Lord has done
He healed my body, He touched my mind
He saved me just in time
I'm gonna praise His name
Each day is just the same
Come on and praise Him
Look what the Lord has done

VERSE 1
The lame man set outside the gate
Begging alms of those who entered in
Now Peter and John they came upon him
The lame man expecting form them
Peter said silver and gold have I none
But such I have Give unto Thee
Right then the spirit touched him
And he leaped to his feet
Saying look what Gods done for me

CHORUS

VERSE 2
I was bound by chains of darkness and sin
I had no hope or peace of mind
Though my sins were red as scarlet
He washed them white as snow
And opened my blind eyes
Now my soul will rejoice since I've made Him my choice
I've got joy, peace, everything that's within
You see my names been written down
In the lambs book of life
Can't you see what Gods done for me

REPEAT CHORUS

TAG
Come on and praise Him
Look what the Lord has done

Today I made this video using quotes from two sermons of Martin Luther regarding Jesus' birth. The background music I used is an instrumental version of "The First Noel" by pianist Eric Wyse and cellist Paul Nelson.

Have a blessed Christmas Season everyone!

Yesterday I created this sermon jam using excerpts I took from the sermon "Behold The Lamb" by John Piper. This sermon is about Jesus identified as the perfect and spotless Lamb sacrificed for us. For the music I used the instrumental version of "The All-Sufficiency of Christ" by Christian rap artist Timothy Brindle.
