Pardon me as I vent.

I've started attending college living on campus and all I gotta say is hooooly cows. When did people forget how to dress? As I walk around campus for stuff I find that a good percentage of the ladies are wearing those black tights that don't leave any detail hidden. A larger percentage are walking around in those shorts - what are they called - that look like sport shorts. Their leg holes are a little bigger than the leg itself and hardly reach a quarter of the way down. Surprisingly, the skirts aren't as bad as one would expect, though a couple geniuses have decided to go biking in them.

You try telling a 21 year old single male to ignore that. I don't care how long you've been Christian that stuff gets your attention! Which is quite the irritant because sometimes it'll stir up desires in me that I can't satisfy in a Godly manner. I mean, praise God, I'm functioning properly when it comes to sexual attractions but my goodness, stop advertisin' if you're not sellin'!

I agree, I am a female and I dress modestly for this reason!

The annoying part is when them same women fault you for it triggering your attention. Now gazing at it, IS your fault, but it's NOT our fault for it triggering our attention.

It's like someone shining a flashlight in your eyes, then blaming you for squinting.

I would say some girls (and even a few guys) are attention seekers .....! The way "we" dress tells something about our personalities, and "we" like to express ourselves.

its sad how society's women have demoralized to the point where they practically walk around naked. every yr the clothes get skimpier and im wondering just when it will be a norm to function in your underwear. anyway shawn, i guess you have to put on the mind of Christ and the helmet of salvation daily. dont allow your thoughts to wander...its sad but this is the world we live in now. (im a girl and i know i dont really understand what you're gng thru, but i hope i helped)

Yep lust is a big one the devil really uses to try and trip a Christian up. I recently had lustful crap that I was personally dealing with. It was like God pointed a light on this sin and showed me that the devil tries to have power over me with this. You know what I did? I laid it at the feet of my Jesus and the next time this came around I kinda laughed to myself and told the devil that he didn't have power over me anymore because I gave it to my Jesus. Since that moment I do not struggle with this issue anymore. Its like when I laid it at His feet he just took it. He is your helper. Always and forever he is your helper. Call out to Him when the temptation seems to be to much. He always always gives His child a way out of every temptation. He promises us so in the Bible. God be with you young Brother in Christ.

No one's making me look, that is true, but it's simple male instinct to be curious.

And unless they're willing to sleep with me, they're not selling. They're just advertising stuff I can't have. Which is almost paradoxical, since I most likely wouldn't accept the sale from them anyway. :p

Haha. It seems everyone is selling these days, even people who don't dress that way.

It makes me sad.

The sad part is they probably are willing so long as you whisper the right somethings in their ear or get them drunk. A lot of women these days aren't discriminate with who they take their clothes off for.

Kind of reminded me of this song.....

Another Saturday afternoon at the mall
Trying to keep my mind on my job, but no!
Here they come, fresh out of school
They look so cool, but i feel so hot
I hate this!

Mad at the girls
Their sexy smiles
Mad at the girls
Miniskirts are back in style
I want to control my lust
My mind i cannot trust
Mad at the girls, mad at the girls
Mad at the girls, I'm mad at myself!

I'm a couch potato today
Just veggin out in front of Youtube
I'm safe, but no!
There they are on ??.com
I can't seem to close this browser
I've got troubles, bud!

Mad at the girls
Their sexy smiles
Mad at the girls
Miniskirts are back in style
I want to control my lust
My mind i cannot trust
Mad at the girls, mad at the girls
Mad at the girls, I'm mad at myself!

The legs, the hair
I'm caught in a snare
Satan has found my weakness
But great is He who is in me
Than he who is in THE GIRLS!

Seriously....the only way to find a decent pair of shorts is to cut off your own jeans. I tried to buy some earlier this Summer and couldn't find any that were a decent length.

The scantier the outfit the better; this seems to be the trend nowadays. But a person's dressing conveys a message to which they will be perceived and treated as, so if you want to make good impression of yourself, dress appropriately. Women who dress immodestly are disrespecting their bodies and pose a stumbling block for men.

I find a woman whom is modest in dress to be far more attractive.
As for the spandex set, if I am with someone else, I am likely to say something along the line of "hey, a new record! that is the 34 thong I have seen this hour!" just loud enough to be over heard by all.
I am so bad at times....

I'm going to play devil's advocate according to the consensus which is going on here. Having lived in beach cities for 6 of my 9 years, I would have to say there is more to this equation than merely how women are dressing.

There comes a point when, we men must take accountability for our own thoughts. Believe it or not, a man can actually control what he thinks and the directions his mind takes.

I will say, the oversexualization of this culture has gone way too far in promoting what appears to be a new normal in our culture. But, even if our actions do not buy into it, if our minds do, we might as well be blind.

It's called a bikini. And lest you think I'm kidding, there was an article that specifically stated that men like women in bikini's the most, simply because it reminds them the most of underwear.

I don't deny I have a share of the responsibility, but there's another side to the problem and society ain't helpin'!
