I'm sorry guys, and I hate to sound like an old guy, but, metal doesn't belong in Christian music, at all. By nature of the sound, it is probably 95% dark sounding. When you are listening to metal music, you are fellowshipping with demons-- sorry, I call it like I see it, and hear it. To me, metal music is very disturbing and sounds like it is coming from the pit of hell. I lost a promising job once, because the manager was playing metal music. It is so disturbing, that I had to step outside. The customers complained about it also.
Even bands like DCtalk, while I like some of their songs, like "Into Jesus," on that same album, they crossed over to the dark side several times with their melodies. Trust me on this. I'm from the 70's, and the same thing was happening back then with some rock bands being dark-sounding and others being more upbeat, although, most of the time, the music was about sex, drugs, and rock and roll. I played the bass guitar in a rock band, so I know what I'm talking about. Some of our songs also crossed over to the dark side, and I was forced to play them. One time, I walked off the stage. I can hear this stuff-- clearly. Crystal clearly. If you're trying to mix metal with being a Christian, you are deceived. I finally gave up all my 70's worldly rock music, while some of it was acceptable. 95% or more of the metal music is about dark demonic power, and glorification of evil.
I know one guy, a very talented musician, who is into all kinds of music, including metal. On stage he started screaming AC/DC "Highway to Hell." He seems very troubled and it's because of the metal music. Being demonic, it fries your conscience and your emotions, leading many people to self-destruct on drugs and other addictive behaviors to try to "feel something." When you become a Christian, you need to leave the metal behind. You can't have both Jesus and metal. And you can not mix them.
Ask yourself why your heart or soul is attracted to this dark sounding, often violent sounding music? Just because you grew up with it, does not make it right, and just because Christian artists are playing Christian metal does not make it right. They are blinded, deluded and deceived because that is the fruits of the demonic, dark music that they are playing. That's what evil does-- it entices you without you even knowing it is evil.
So, take it from a rock musician from the 70's that knows. Get it out of your house and out of your life, now. And parents, destroy this music, and do not let it into your house.
Seek peaceful music that leads to God-- not violent, dark music that leads to Hell.
Get off the "Highway to Hell," music.
