I was writing Christian novels, but I couldn't sell any, so they must have been boring. So now I am writing a novel that is similar to the Christian novels I was writing, but I'm adding a strong political element.
See the thing for me is that when i am writing from the heart and from the holy spirit the words just seem flow and if that flow is blocked somehow then the words just don't feel write, heck a lot of times
i don't even know what I am saying but the flow seems to make the words written truly impact others hearts. If you write a book you need to know that flow and the words should feel easy to speak or write in this situation. for me the thing is the flow was blocked because I was doing it with the mentality of writing a book not because I was doing it for fun and I didnt really care if it sold or not but with the flow being blocked like it was I knew I couldn't do it

For me it's a matter of trying to earn extra money. I am not in love with writing. Still, I need something to do and writing is sort of fun. I publish my books on Amazon Kindle (for free) and plan to publish my next as an Amazon paperback, also.

I write a lot of archaic poetry and short stories.

I'm attempting a third novel. I figure after two hard failures, I've learned the right lessons.

Believe it or not, I'll probably be writing for a widely-read website pretty soon. Non-fiction, unfortunately. *fingers crossed

I try to write. I've written quite a few Christian novels, but apparently they are very bad, since I publish them as Amazon Kindle ebooks, and I've sold very few. I had stopped writing, but I've just gotten a new inspiration: writing political novels. My audience would be conservatives.
I have been reading some Alex Foster books on Kindle on How to make money writing ebooks maybe this will help you. Also I if you want to send me a private message giving me what name they were publish under I would be willing to take a look at them.

I have been told I was going to be a writer since 4th grade, but been in denial up until early this year when I finally decided to try my hand at a novel. If I stay on schedule I should be done around Xmas. The hardest part about fiction (for me) is getting through self-critique.

Im not an "official" writer but I have been working on a novel for a few years. I have recently picked it back up and am seriously thinking of finishing it. Knitting always seems to win out though. Lol

If you see yourself as "offcial" you're probably doing it wrong ;)

I had wanted to be a writer since I was 13 or so. But what I found out was that I simply didn't have the talent for it. And that's a shame because it's the one thing I wanted to do more than anything else. Oh well.

I would like to read sometime.
THanks

I'm writing my dissertation right now, but I hardly think it counts for much beyond being a very long, very dull, very academic paper that nobody will ever read.

I had thought about writing a book many years ago, but I decided that I probably didn't have enough to say to justify writing a book or maybe it was that I didn't want to share badly enough the story I had to tell.

Thanks, but I don't want to put you through that. Maybe you'll buy the one I am working on now.

How do you know you don't have the talent for it?

Something I see repeated on this thread -- the assumption of if you write it, it will be good. Bad assumption. Like thinking if I paint it will be good. (And that could mean a door or on canvas.)

Who taught you how to write a novel? Who taught you how to write a short story? I've gone to school for 16 years to get a Communications degree, and then spent the next 20 years being the business-writer for quite a few business. Want to know what I learned about how to write a novel from all that? I can write a sentence!

Unless a sentence magically becomes an entire novel, writing a sentence plus $5 will get me to Jersey and back. (It cost $5 to cross the bridge to get home from Jersey for where I live. lol)

Stop expecting, "If we build it, they will come." They won't come! First, it has to be built well. Second it has to be found before anyone comes.

If you have never had an author with teaching skills tutor you on how to write a novel, you know about as much as I did. (Everyone seems capable of writing a sentence.) You don't get good-enough by simply doing something. You get good-enough by learning how, practicing what you learned, and repeat for 10,000 hours or more. And that's just good-enough! Then there is better. Then there is good. Then there is great. Then there is better-than-anyone-else.

One advantage to writing that painting doesn't have -- there are communities of writers all over the place.

Learn how first, than join in to see if you have learned how. I didn't learn how to write a novel in the 25 years I spent learning how to write and then writing. I learned how through research and effort. And finally I found a community of writers willing to help me as I help them.

As for trying to make money writing? If the only reason you write is to make money, grab your nearest coffee mug or empty can, get to your nearest crowded corner, and beg for money. You'll make more that way than by writing a novel.

just a share:

I kneel and give thanks to The Highest Ranked.
God be thanked, God be praised, I am raised and fed.
I was once dead when I spoke, but now I hope in my Lord,
Who gave me a 'two-edged-sword, so I may fight in the Spirit.
Sear it to my soul and brain He did, and now He bids me what I must do...

If you buy several thousand copies of my book, I could take an ocean cruise.
