Hey all, I have been asking around on this topic, and I haven't received an answer that I can hold absolute certainty to. What happens to an atheist here, that admits to it, and doesn't like rub it in peoples faces, but does express how he/she feels on a certain topic, through his/ her eyes? Please answer as soon as possible!

Generally my observation has been, that as long as your rhetoric isn't like that of Richard Dawkins, things go well.

I wouldn't go on a crusade either.

Don't worry. Christians are just as critical of each other as they are of atheists, so I guess you can say they get treated equally. :)

They pretty much get treated like everyone else on the site. If they're respectful even with the differences in beliefs, and not a jerk to everyone they're ok. But if they turn into a jerk and troll the forums or whatever they get the boot.

Since atheists do not believe in God, it creates a certain "gap" which is hard to bridge when discussing most points. For example, most Christians believe that the Scriptures are the inspired, unerring Word of God and will cite scriptural references to back up their arguments; a sticking point when their adversary (figuratively speaking) doesn't believe that God exists.

I personally welcome mature, thoughtful discussions with atheists since I believe that, as Christians, we should, "...Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." (1 Peter 3:15) Furthermore, the remainder of this quote sets the "rules" for these discussions, "...But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander." (1 Peter 3:15-16)

So if you are an atheist, welcome aboard. All we ask is that you keep an open mind and do not try to force your ideas on anyone else.

Thanks for the info, and I am in fact an atheist. However, I am only here to get some info. I am interested in psychology, and I want to find out that if minds of those who believe in a higher power, are different from those who don't, on certain topics. And also, I want to find out if within the different religions, if there differences. Its not an official search, seeing as I am still in high school, but everyone does have to have a project going. The only snag is that I can't find any really good Jewish, Atheist, Agnostic, Muslim, Buddhist, and/or Shinto chatrooms . . . and don't worry, I won't shove anything down anyone's throats. I get to scared.

Very true! :)
On second thought.. don't be too careful;)
I am a believer and also a fan of psychology, is there anything specific you would like me to speak on? I once was on a muslim forum (I have many Muslims in my family) I'll try to locate it for you.

If you could, that would be amazing! And as for what I am looking for, just your thoughts of atheists in general, the other religions of Buddhism, Judism, Agnostics, Muslims, and your thoughts on homosexuality. If I touched nerves, sorry, but I be an actor, and I push the envelope.

Look up different forums/groups on Myspace. Maybe the older posts are deleted, but back when Myspace was active there were quite a few faith based groups with interesting discussions.

Also, I wouldn't rule out different political ideologies. That would make your search a little more interesting.

What sort of psychological differences are you looking for anyhow? Personality variances? Different methods of lifetime development? Propensity to fall into group think? The prevalence of certain mental disorders? All the above?

I am mainly looking at how the people look at the world around them, and its many faces. Meaning, what do you guys think, as a group or individually, about other religions, homosexuality, those who don't believe in your God, and about those who are on the brink of believing, but not quite sure yet. I am wondering if being part of a different religion molds your mind into something different. For example, is a Christian mind, different from a Buddhist mind? Thats mainly what I am looking at, and I may do political ideologies, but they gets so varied, even with the religions, that I am just trying to stick with the basics before that.
