Sarah: There's also the big issue of where the parlor is. In the past, where sailors got tattoos in foreign countries, for example, there was often no knowing how the parlor was regulated, how clean it was, how good quality the ink was, etc.

Guam is technically a US territory, of course. If you go visit Kenneth in Guam and decide to do the anchor there, you would well advised to check very carefully about the parlor you might use and all the ramifications. You might still in the end decide to use your local one in NM that presumably you are comfortable with.

Blessings.

Nah If I get any tattoos it will be state side. I have a parlor that I go to.

It faded and I also had not given it enough thought.

But I think you do.

Blessings.
Fading is easy to fix. Just get a touch up. You can also see if they can fix whatever you dont kike about the piece.

So are you kind of now maybe established enough with ink for you to have had your first touch ups?

Blessings.

Oh okay. Sounds like when you officially became an adult at 18 you decided to do the rite of passage, and never looked back.

Actually I think this is why quite a lot of 18 year olds like to take mom and dad to the parlor with them, to witness it, anyway.

Blessings.

Actually mine was a christmas gift from my cousin. And I mostly did it because I was 18 and I could do whatever I wanted without permission. More an act of defiance in a way.

Sarah: Do you still regard doing it as an act of defiance, though?

Kind of yes. I've never really seen tattoos as a rite of passage. I think people just fet them because they want them. Of course there is always some kind of motivation behind it.

Sarah: Interesting. So, like, who do you feel you're defying, for example in planning your next tattoo(s)?

Its not a defiance anymore. Thats more an explanation of why I got my first one. Now I do it because I want to. There is always some special meaning behind it.
