All right, Fitness Friends...

I must confess I need a bit of a boost.

I've been working a lot, have had a ton of things going on, and have been feeling down about this and that.

You know... Life. *sigh* Haven't worked out in over a week.

What keeps you all going when it gets like that?

This happens to me at times too, Kim. If I fail to work out for a week or more, I can't get myself to just go right back to my normal exercise program. I don't have to start all over again, but I do have to adjust and slowly start re-building my momentum, like getting back to exercising but instead of my normal 25min x 3 days a week, I went to 6-10min x 6 days, for one week, before going back to my usual routine. As a motivation, I got a poster of Vanessa Hudgens on my wall. Lol. That, and whenever I take the stairs and run out of breath, that also serves as a motivation.

Going hiking this morning. Woop whoop.
Ooh, I'm jealous, really I am! Although, today, I looked into a couple short waterfall hikes I plan to take soon, excited.

Mostly worked on triceps this morning. I usually do balanced full-body workouts, as I find them more beneficial, so I don't have certain "days" for things.. But I might play basketball at some point today, so I did less and it kind of turned into arm day lol.

I worked out mostly with weights (but also some aerobic and stretching) fairly consistently from my mid teens to my mid thirties, with maybe about 3 or 4 extended breaks every 3 or 4 years.
I became saved in my mid thirties and got busy with the work of God so I did not work out with weights (although I did run about 30 races, 5 marathons among them, and took MMA for 7 years) in really any way until about five months ago.
So don't get to upset Seoul Search, one week is not so bad. And it happens to just about everyone at times. Life can get in the way, and our bodies do have emotional and physical rhythms.
I had a 23 year layoff ! Your body may have needed a rest anyway. A lot of us, especially when we get into our early 40's and onward, tend to over train. Our bodies generally need more rest compared to the days when we were in our 20's and 30's.
I have gained about 15 pounds since I started in mid October, and that is on a vegan diet, at about maybe around 1500 calories a day. But granted, I was very thin, so I had no where to go but up.
It feels good to have a body back that I can look at again and feel good about.

But Zero, how are you possibly going to fit a picture of Vanessa Hudgens on your wall?

It's already covered with 50 pictures of Taylor Swift...

(Plus, Tay-Tay doesn't seem to like competition very much. She might just have to write a song about it!)

P.S. Thanks for the encouragement, everyone!!! I have to work most of today, but will be back in the gym on Monday, all thanks to you! :)

Maybe I'll even earn my own spot on Zeroturbulence's Wall of "Inspiration"... (ha ha ha!) :D

Kim, we all have those days. Sometimes life just gets the better of us. When that happens to me, I try to do some quick but intense workouts to keep the blood running and the muscles activated. Stuff like -
200 pushups in 45minutes
300 squats in 30 minutes
Walk up and down the stairs for 4 floors

These workouts are to muscles what power naps are to the body - small, powerful doses of energy release. :)

I did some squats today. I used the weight belt to make sure my form was good.

The back did fine. I think those reverse hyperextensions are really helping.

Deadlifts on friday, we'll see how that goes.

If all goes well then heavy lifting again starting on monday...

I've been working night shifts and haven't had the time to work out in almost a week now. This is the third time this week, I'm gonna tell myself "Tomorrow!"

hmm I workout 6 days per week. I do abs every day, it only takes about 20 minutes, so no excuse not to. I do upper body, weights, etc 3 times per week, stationary bike 3 times per week, at least an hour of basketball every day, and more. As far as diet, I haven't had a soda in almost 2 years. I typically stay away from breads and definitely away from desserts lol. I probably eat grilled chicken salads(with fruit in them) more than anything. Peanut butter is good too. So, yeah, basically high protein(I do take in a lot with my ''protein'' shakes for workouts). As far as drinks.. I only drink water, skim milk, and gatorade really. I've actually lost 51 pounds since January :p.
wow that is super ridiculously amazing

I don't get in as many workouts when I'm on the night shift, either.

And when I do get them in they are usually not all that great, either.

Whoever invented the night shift should be slapped. Twice.
