I don't get in as many workouts when I'm on the night shift, either.

And when I do get them in they are usually not all that great, either.

Whoever invented the night shift should be slapped. Twice.
For real! I've been praying for a change of shift. For the last close to 8 years, I've worked alternate shifts and it's driving me nuts. I just really wanna work at home, and do ministry stuff the rest of the time! Everyone's dream! But oh well. Soon. For now, just gotta work on my health as much as I can. I did get to work out today, for 10 minutes. Slowly building up my momentum again.

Well I have always been into fitness. I try and keep my diet somewhat clean. I attempt to work out 5 days a week but honestly it doesn't always happen. I almost always workout 4 days a week though. I lift twice a week each for an hour and a half session and focus on compound movements like squat, deadlift, bench, shoulder press, overhead press at high weights to gain strength. The other days I will run one long distance run day of about 3-4 miles at a slow pace. The other two days I will do a mile run warm up with some high intensity training to burn fat. I also foam roll and stretch a lot to try and help my body recover and prevent injury. If I skip a day it will always be a cardio day and I try and make it up by running further then my 1 mile warm up on my high intensity cardio days. Anyways good to hear your stories and what you guys do for fitness

I tried to workout last night, but I was so tired.. it was useless lol. Got in like 15 minutes on the treadmill and some dumbbell and cable rows before I said this isn't worth it and went home. XD

I'm heading for Planet Fitness this afternoon to work out. Once you hit 50, if you don't keep working out, then you just fall apart.

I worked out mostly with weights (but also some aerobic and stretching) fairly consistently from my mid teens to my mid thirties, with maybe about 3 or 4 extended breaks every 3 or 4 years.
I became saved in my mid thirties and got busy with the work of God so I did not work out with weights (although I did run about 30 races, 5 marathons among them, and took MMA for 7 years) in really any way until about five months ago.
So don't get to upset Seoul Search, one week is not so bad. And it happens to just about everyone at times. Life can get in the way, and our bodies do have emotional and physical rhythms.
I had a 23 year layoff ! Your body may have needed a rest anyway. A lot of us, especially when we get into our early 40's and onward, tend to over train. Our bodies generally need more rest compared to the days when we were in our 20's and 30's.
I have gained about 15 pounds since I started in mid October, and that is on a vegan diet, at about maybe around 1500 calories a day. But granted, I was very thin, so I had no where to go but up.
It feels good to have a body back that I can look at again and feel good about.
I was re-reading my post and just realized I mis-typed the number of calories. So as to not mislead anyone, it is roughly 2,500 a day, not 1,500...
First time I ever replied to my own post, lol.

I had a nice w/o today. While bench pressing 165 lbs for one rep is certainly no big deal, in fact it is a bit on the anemic side, I am happy. It is a 30 lb. increase in my BP since I started working out 5 and a half months ago. It is a little bit more then my weight, and at my age, on a 100% vegan diet, it is a accomplishment I am pleased with.
I am shooting for 190 to 200 range by the end of this year.
Thank you Lord for a healthy body.

Honestly, this has been me for the past week. My meal plan has been great, but not so much on the exercise part.

I hurt my shoulder last year and have just recently been able to put weight back on the bar for bench press.

I was able to get 235 last week. Last Sept. I was at 275. I hope to be back at 275 in a few months. Maybe 3...

I bought workout clothes yesterday to motivate me. I'll get them ready before bedtime, so they're the first things I see in the morning lol.

i haven't exercised in months.

so, kim, don't feel bad. you're doing better than me! :D
No? Well, u can... i just do a couple of bends and arm swings early in the morning, a few stretches a little later on.. You're so young, but it is always nice to catch up whether by taking a walk, biking or something else in the open air. But singing is also working out ur vocal muscles and lungs... so that counts.

I have a great idea! All of you can help me paint! You use every muscle in your body and you will be sore!! Its not cardio unless you go up and down the ladder fast( lol) but it is a workout.

After missing a few sessions last week, I started picking up the pace again. Started with 10-min workouts in the morning, and today I'll be back to my 25-30min exercise.

Oh and I'll throw this out there. If you haven't tried this app before, it's called FitStar, it's a GREAT workout app. The free version has two sessions per week. I like having no equipment, only a mat and some space. Then I play my favourite pump-up music, and just follow the recorded sessions (which are easy). I think the best thing about it is the personalized training. There's feedback and review after every session, so the plan adjusts automatically depending on the feedback. It also has levels for when you're progressing. Like, I started out at level 2 cardio (initial fitness test to determine how unfit I was xD). Now I'm at lvl 5 xD and I can run up the stairs, maybe 3 levels without killing myself. The premium version has 4 workout plans (I'm on the 'Get Strong' plan, that's 3 sessions a week and many freestyle workouts to choose from.

And I wasn't paid to post this!!! Just thought you guys wanna check it out. Gym membership doesn't work for me lol, cause I wouldn't know how to work with the equipments and end up getting a personal trainer which is like $$$ so expensive, so yeah.

I did squats today.

295 x 11.

The back tightened up a little but over all felt pretty good.

I did some reverse hypers afterwards and the back felt great!!!

If anyone else has a sore lower back from compression of some sort, I would highly recommend reverse hyper-extensions.

Not reverse hyperspace extensions. I don't want you getting lost...

Whew. Improving my back and working my legs, to the sound of bon jovi.

Sometimes I think of just going to a rock concert twice a week and headbang the night away, instead of doing planks lol.
