since women ventured into the men only thread, it has opened the door for men to enter the women only thread [ha, ha]

One thing women have kept for themselves is the matter of belly dancing with many believing it is exclusively for their entertainment and not for men. Many pagan or Muslim tribes believe this is so and they purposefully exclude men from these performances. Shame, shame on them. For if they only read the Bible they would know Miriam was a belly dancer who performed joined with other women to praise God while entertaining and revitalizing war weary men:

See Exodus 15:20; I Samuel 18:6; Jeremiah 31

Interestingly, in modern portrayals Miriam was portrayed as fully clothed except for bare legs and feet. In past eras she was portrayed as wearing more revealing costumes. Belly dancing is in the Bible and it is for all. Anyone who attempts to exclude men is practicing a form of discrimination that is not biblically permissible. [ha ha]

This is me in my 50's.

I sag more now. Do you really want to see me belly dance? Because even women don't want to see that. Even I don't!

First I read the bible.
Then I looked in the mirror.
My eye offended me.
(uh-oh)
Do I HAVE to?! :p

There is a very real possibility that our Dear Friend Depleted has an inner beauty that may not be evident at first ... :D

I'm not sure what that comment was supposed to mean, but I'm gonna hafta hope what ever it was just didn't come out right!

But just so you know, lynn (depleted) is my friend, and my sister
in Christ, and she has both an inner and an outer beauty, as most of us do,
that is uniquely and wonderfully her own and she is a gift from God.
OKAY?!

Also, so you know, MY Above comment was directed at myself,
hence the use of the MIRROR. Get it?!

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt,
but you May want to apologize.

Like I say, benefit of doubt, but really, brother,
if you look how that's worded.......
There's a POSSIBILITY that she has an inner beauty?

And it 'might not be evident' ...... ?

You coulda done better, is all.

Sorry to have caused a misunderstanding. From her posts it is clear she is everybody's Friend. :)

Hubby actually knew a guy who took that literally. Fortunately, only one eye offended.

My inner beauty is inside my toe next to my big toe on my left foot. It only is noticeable with an MRI and you really, really have to enjoy the pictures an MRI produces to appreciate the beauty.

(I wasn't offended. I neither consider myself a beauty nor ugly. I am about proportionate to what I ought to look like at my age. All, except that one toe. Some of the beauty pops out a little. lol)

Then I'm more beautiful than you. I have two extra knuckles to put the inner beauty in.

For the record, I just wanted to say that Miri does not do belly dancing. Lol

This is more my style.

Did you escape hot flashes? Or you don't know yet?

(I know. Sort of like John. He quit smoking and lost 90 pounds in six months, but no one is recommending that way either.)

That was almost 6 years ago. I don't have ANY menopause symptoms. Thank goodness. :)

But belly dancing is in the Bible which means all the women here should be taking lessons in it.

As for kitty's performance, it is indeed very impressive but I must say that it does not appear to correspond with anything I've read in the Bible. :)

But do you know? I didn't start getting them until I was your age. And, it dawned on me I finally got over them about two years ago. (It is safe to snuggle fully under a comforter again. lol)

2 Samuel 6:14 NKJV
[14] Then David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David
was wearing a linen ephod.
