This is not about telemarketing firm, but about a 'strip club owner calling me.'
Several years ago I had a call from a man owning a strip night club. He said,
" I am returning your call about the job working for me." I am like, what in
the world are you talking about ? "Sir, I said, I beg your pardon, but I think
you have the wrong number.". ( I knew what the club was, but gosh why was
he calling me?) He repeated my number and name, and I said yes, but I DID
NOT CALL YOU. He became irate with me and told me he did not appreciate
being called. I said, Sir I did not call you. Still he was irate.

So, I decided to talk to him about Jesus. I shared the message of salvation
and then he was really angry. It was the only option I had and it seemed like
okay, if he, being unsaved night club owner is calling me, then I have the right
to witness to him. Who knows, maybe God did eventually get a convert.

Who did the calling and tell him it was me, and give my number, telling him
I was interested in a job he had opening for 'stripper?' I had two teen age
girl neighbors. They did not like me. So the assumption was they thought
they would get revenge for whatever reason, and play a dirty joke on me.
But in the end, IMO, it back fired. The enemy meant to cause me to be
upset, and I was able to turn the table and speak to the owner of the club
and share Christ.

If we really did share Christ with telemarketer then it would at least keep
us from being irate with them. Now I am preaching to myself. I have to
remember that. LOL ~ J~K~2

I guess the next question would be: if you or I were out of a job, would we be prepared to work for a telemarketing firm...? :)

they wouldn't want me :p I don't like bugging people, and I couldnt sell something to save my life
At work, I am supposed to "sell the web", meaning getting existing customers to order online (for free). I struggle even with that :D

I can only sell something I believe is a good product. I am like you
I don't like bugging people. Work is difficult is you don't like it, yet
it is so hard to find a good job for those who have been displaced.
So many people are said to be giving up here in USA. I think sales
takes a special breed.

I won't answer the phone anymore without checking out the number. I had two calls today from the same 801 area code, and they both went to my answering machine, where of course, I got no message.

If it was real people, I probably would tell them about Jesus. But 99% of the calls I get are automated, and you have to press a number to get a real person. Who do they think would fall for that? Well, my husband did once, but now he is very careful to listen to my screams of "DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE."

On another similar topic, I got my old Iphone hooked up for my husband to use on a shared plan. Within the day, I had 4 threatening calls from collection agencies, and a daily call from a junior high on the other side of town with an automated voice tell me "my student" is absent without notice. By the third day, I phoned my phone company and told them give me a new number or the phone is canceled, and was there a problem with this number? Yes, collection agencies are after that number. There was no answer as to why they would bother giving out a number that would immediately be rejected as an unsafe number.

The incident continued when I received this month's cell phone bill, overcharged by $55. I was charged for a "custom" number and for having 3 phones. It took 1 1/2 hours to get the mess sorted out, and I will be leaving this provider when my current contract ends.

Telemarketers and companies with bad service. A bad combination any day!

PS. I am on the Canadian DO NOT CALL list, so now I only get calls from America numbers, where our government cannot pursue these monsters... er... I mean hard working automated machines!

I just say, "No, thanks. I'm not interested" and hang up. I feel sorry for the employees but the corporations can go and jump in a lake.
So true:)......So true:)......

Probably gonna get some people hatin on me.

I'm a telemarketer. Usually I don't call random people. I live in Tennessee and I call for the news paper. The guy has 3 civil war publications. And 26 other publications. I'm what they would a call a nice telemarketer.

If they say no. I hang up end of story. What I do is basically to let them know on specials. Or if their paper is about to run up. A lot of times people forget about it. I understand why you guys don't like them. But all of us here are trying to make a living just like everyone else. At least we have a job. I started when I was 14, been here for almost exactly 2 years. Treat them good. At least be nice about it. Don't lie.

Sometimes this is the only job someone can find.
It pays the bills.
I never have done it but if I have to eat.
I treat them with kindness in excess.
Don't like people getting mistreated.
If I want it, I will buy it.

Did you know if you google the number that called you if
you want to know where it came from, google gives a list
of numbers. I say that to say, if you are unsure about who
called, there is a way to know for certain it was telemarketing.
With so many scams going on we must be careful.
I am like many on here. I let the answering machine answer,
and I feel if it is a real person they will leave message.
Our physicians leave messages as reminder for appointments.
So, I realize at times I did not know the Unknown Name
Unknown Number, turned out to be a cell phone from a Dr's
office. Sort of a fine line in knowing what to do, but we try
to use wisdom and throw in a little love and a God bless you.

i try to be polite and say i'm not interested or if it's a survey i will do it. i always tell myself to think about when one of my mother's jobs was being a telemarketer to pay bills and how she would talk about people slamming the phone in her ear or just being rude to her , but she did it to take care of her family

I got so tired of junk phone calls that I stopped answering the phone. My friends would leave a message or I would hear their voice and pick up. Now I am using a call blocker. The one I have is CPR CallBlocker. You have to have caller ID service. But you answer the phone, and if it's a junk call you press a button which ends the call. The device remembers the number and blocks that number from calling again. If you make a mistake in blocking a call you can erase a good number from the blocked call list. The device is also pre-programmed with certain known rogue call numbers. So far the device seems to be working really well. The phone rings less often now and I actually like to pick up the phone now so I can block the junk callers. I recommend this to any of you who are really fed up with the constant interruptions.

Any telemarketer calls I get nowadays are recordings. So you can't actually have a conversation with them. As a child though I loved talking to telemarketers.
