Wow. That's an interesting title. Is the book about silencing the lies in your life? From yourself, from others, from the Enemy?

I just transferred that one to my hard drive from Kindle. I really enjoyed it.

The Jesus I Thought I Knew was good too.

Yes, on what we allow ourselves to dwell in our lives. :) The content is good. The writing is meh.

I really love reading it. But my other book is shorter, so was hoping to finish that soon so I can continue Yancey.

East of Eden = fantastic.

Just started The Problems of Philosophy by Bertrand Russell. It's a little convoluted so far, but not bad.

For the last time until it's published The Comfort Ban. (Well, probably until an editor makes me work harder on it. lol) The novel I've been working on for the last 4.5 years.

I've been told my query letter needs to be much better than this, but this is what I have so far for it to give you some idea what it's about.

When America descends into a long recession, the federal government introduces a luxury ban to stimulate the economy. All unnecessary items are banned with inspectors fining heavily for anything from speedboats to cigars, from snacks and exotic food, and from knickknacks, toys, and stuffed animals.

Set realistically in South Philly, Spaulding is a sheltered nine-year old teddy bear. Created to devote his life to Destiny, the little girl he considers his mom, he loves his vocation. And then he punches out of the trash bag into life on the street. With the help of Teddy T. Bear, a ten-year-old street-smart teddy bear, and Phil, a three-year-old determined souvenir bear, they must survive with other stuffed animals in an urban park. Ever fearful of humans throwing them away to spend their lives in the dreaded dump, where dogs and rats tear stuffies apart, at night, they must save other stuffies and find enough to eat.

But Spaulding longs for the family he had. For Destiny. Did she throw him away? Can he ever go home? Who is his family now? How can they survive?

My journey ended at page 9 lol

The page said " Would your help have made any difference? Unfortunately you will never know. THE END

Lol....bliss!

Truly inspires me never to read a choose your own adventure book again :p

Lol skylove. :) you're adorable.

I have just finished "The Battle Between Your Ears" and "If Satan can't Steal Your Dreams, He can't Control your destiny" both by Jerry Savelle. I like the content but the writing is, shall I say, would probably appeal more to other audience. Not my kind of book. I like the subject though, cause this is where I am in life. At the end of every book, it's the scriptural basis that matters the most. And this was scriptural :)

Now I got 2 Philip Yancey books, Jesus I Never Knew (which I have already started) and Soul Survivor. 2 Joseph Prince books, Destined to Reign and The Power of Right Believing (reading both right now) and Waiting on God by Charles Stanley, lastly and this one I haven't started yet, and I have no idea what it's about, I mean it's Christian, but other than that I dunno what's in it (surprise, surprise) On The Anvil by Max Lucado.

Lots of reading to do, but for now, off to watch a movie.

I am reading 3 Christian books.

1) The Hiding Place for the umpteenth time. Love Corrie Ten Boom! Love The Ten Booms! I gifted my paperback to my BF. So I got Kindle one.

2) A Christian romance fiction, The Woods written by a new Christian author. It is a bold attempt to reach to the teens and youngsters who have vampire fantasy. They will sure get over that paranormal romance BS once they read it. I am loving it. Started reading it for my niece's sake before suggesting to her. o_O

3) And a book on Slander titled Are You Being Slandered written by a Christian Counselor. Got few slanderers to be dealt with.

I started reading The Hiding Place too! I have too many books currently reading but I'm right now I'm going back and forth between The Hiding Place and The Jesus I Never Knew. I heard a lot of great reviews about The Hiding Place and so far it's really good. If only I didn't need sleep, I'd read it overnight.

Currently reading:

The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, by Junot Diaz -- a raucous, rich and heartfelt bilingual illustration of the lives, loves and infringed liberties of several members of a Dominican family who move reluctantly between their homeland and the USA. It's funny, it's sad, it's quirky, it's rich, it's vibrant, and it's also historically informative (there are footnotes on some pages that describe, in detail, parts of Hispanic-American history that I had no previous idea about). This story is one of the most densely colourful I've ever come across, and it was recently voted by critics and authors around the world to be the best work of fiction of the 21st Century. I personally disagree with that, but it's still very, very, very good. Basic proficiency in the Spanish language would be helpful for this one.

I've read part of (and have subsequently bought) these books, to read afterwards:

A Visit from the Goon Squad, by Jennifer Egan -- a punctual story about several musically inclined individuals whose impulsive tendencies lead them down stray paths. This one (from what I've read so far) seems to be a character study, and the characters are idiosyncratic and interesting.

The English Patient, by Michael Ondaatje -- a mesmerizing, intimate epic about a WW2 pilot severely burned in the Arabic deserts, saved by Bedouins and tended to by a traumatized nurse, and her Italian lover. This one's all about the prose. It's quaint, spare and beautiful. Totally exotic.

After This, by Alice McDermott -- an insightful, succinct journey through the lives of a Catholic Irish-American family in a period of dramatic cultural change. This is the kind of book that comes from an out-and-out storyteller. It's a finely crafted, undiluted, humblingly astute observation of family life.

And this book, I just finished reading, and it's probably the best novel I've ever read:

White Teeth, by Zadie Smith -- a naturally laugh-out-loud funny, wise, audacious big picture epic set in the lives of two families of drastically different colours and creeds, both tackling the challenges of multiculturalism, faith, love and loss, spanning across generations and continents. This novel is absolutely superb. It is written with a tremendous amount of adventurousness and courage and I can't praise it enough. A must read, for everybody.

Special mention goes to The Time Traveller's Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger. This book is a quirky, exceptional original love story about a man whose tendency to disappear at random moments and land at others across time and space leads him into the arms of his future wife. This book is one of a kind.

I read only the Bible <3

Even if people tell me the Bible is made by men & not God,
in my mind, I'm talking to myself focusing
that's not true than a man created it!

Is one of the books called what's so amazing about grace by Philip Yancey? I do believe he's recently written another one about grace. I haven't read it yet though. He's an awesome author. I also love AW Towser. My favourite all time quotes are from A.W.Towser The pursuit of God.

The whole bible supports the idea. God is speaking. Not God spoke, but God is speaking. He is by his nature continuously articulate. He fills the world with his speaking voice. "He spoke and it was done". Psalm 33:9

The bible is the written word of God, and because it is written it is confined and limited by the necessities of ink and paper and leather. The voice of God however, is alive and free as the sovereign God is free. "The words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are life" John 6:63.

Gods words in the bible can have power only because it corresponds with Gods word in the universe. It is the present Voice which make the written word all powerful. Otherwise it would lie locked in slumber within the covers of a book.
