At any given moment in our congregation, there might be people standing when everyone else is sitting... or some people might be sitting when everyone else is standing.

No one ever even hardly notices it.
I should mention I'm Lutheran. And I sit towards the very front (not a good Lutheran - haha).

Youre a worship leader! Love it!
Um... No, I'm not upon stage, I'm in the congregation. I'm one of the few who really seems to get into the worship though (and I'm not a dancing-type at all). Weird.

Yeah, unfortunately that WOULD make a gigantic difference.

My brothers and I are more Luthercostals now. It's interesting. :)
(I forgot to mention I'm 6'5, so I'm always blocking people).

Right on! Now just go ahead and make the move all the way. Who knows, you might find yourself dancing.

I already do dance (if you can call it that) in worship. I've done it for years and years. That's just me. The Lutheran church has much solid doctrine but it needs to learn to move more in the ways of Holy Spirit. So I can keep Lutheran beliefs while entering into the awesome Spirit acknowledgement, gifts etc. found in the Pentecostal church. (Martin Luther would actually find most Lutheran churches not to his liking - he certainly didn't ignore/minimise the work of Holy Spirit).

When I was about seven or eight during worship I would lay down worshiping God because I saw a lot of people do it. When I would do this I would often fall asleep and so I would be laying there during the sermon and the pastor enjoyed giving me a hard time after I woke up. It was sure embarrassing.
That's why I dont go to church building so that if I fall asleep in Jesus' arms enjoying His peace there's no one to give me a hard time about it to feel better about themselves... man, hate that "religious" spirit.
Plus that's just stupid, to do such to a child.

I thought I was the only one...

I really like the order and solemnity of the Lutheran service.

But I like being around the really passionate Pentacostal believers.

Sometimes I feel like the Lutherans are a little too regimental. And then sometimes I think the Pentacostals are a little too disorderly...

Sometimes I agree with both those statements. Maybe that's why I'm neither Liturgical nor Pentecostal.

I'm not sure what denomination I should call myself either.

I usually tell people "sort of charismatic".

There are churches where you can do that, they might just be the smaller ones.

Maybe in America but not here. I'm in an Eastern Orthodox country.
You cant even sit there lest lay down lol
Manmade doctrines... you know, they believe that if your flesh is in standing position and not sitting or laying down you're worshiping God "better" or fearing God more or whatever... works of the flesh... and of course everybody who is sitting down or laying down unless they are ill, is sinning or worshiping/praying wrong or something to that effect.
God said I want mercy and not sacrifice. If someone is that tired to fall asleep, then go rest and worship God when you wake up. And reorganize your life and time to get better rest and the prayer time you want. God makes time when we ask Him too.
They are trying with their flesh to do the "works" of worship, they also wake up at night to worship trying to be like David of the Bible, it is all man's works and not stirred up by the Spirit of God in most cases I've seen enough to say that... they act like God will be angry with them if they dont do this "work" and stand their half an hour or whatever... as if God needed our worship... oh I better stop because I have much to rant about regarding Eastern Catholicism. Very ascetic in nature.
I worship at home, no matter if I stand or lay down :)

Oh, I'm not in America, I'm an Aussie. But yes, you make a good point. Just don't forsake the community of believers in other areas. It's very important to be in fellowship with the Body as well as Christ, at the head. Bless you, my sister. :)

Bless you too. And fellowship is why I'm on CC. :)

Just remembered another.
My wife, daughter (10 at the time) and I visited a Lutheran Church in So.Ca. one fine Sunday morning (about 12 years ago). We sat up front and near a side exit door. Near the beginning of the Divine(?)Service they put on a political show with Boy Scouts etc.. We looked at each other and immediately got up and headed for the nearby side exit. Well, I thought 'just open the door and high tail it outta there'. I opened the door and to my shock there was an enclosed small field with no exit, it was fenced in. So I had to eat humble pie, turn around and parade my family past all in attendance, up the aisle and to the back where we embarrassingly exited...properly.

Wow. Different worlds, eh? We've never had any political anything in our Australian Lutheran churches (besides a small prayer for country and world leaders etc.) Sorry you had to experience that.

My family is a mix of denominations, we have baptists, catholics, first presbyterians and I'm sure we've got some other denominations as well (my grandma was a lutheran). Anyways, my first visit to a lutheran church became an embarrasing experience to me:(...I didnt know when to sit or when to stand up, and I didnt know the songs, and when we got to the communion, everybody ran off to the reverend and left me sitting in my seat untill my late grandma remembered that her non lutheran grand child was left in her seat not knowing up from down...LOL...she told me that I had to come with her and receive it...the entire congregation was looking at me when I approached the reverend, who was waiting...on me...it was super embarrasing...;)
