Actually the practice among women to do 2 or 3 in one ear has been so widespread since around the late 70s, that I wouldn't just link it with boredom, but rather also to good style.

I prefer just 1 per earlobe. I find beauty in simplicity. I have a good memory of getting my ears pierced too: I was 7 years old and my grandmother took me to the mall to buy a dress... she allowed me to have my ears pierced at the same time even though my mom and dad always had said I wasn't allowed to have my ears pierced. Lol. My grandma is cool, and sweet. 
And as a woman of 29, I am very happy with having pierced ears. I think one set of earrings is pretty.

Recently I got the holy cross earring, which is my birthday gift. Now I have two holes on ear. It is a type of Christian jewelry and sends out a complex message about our faith and trust in Jesus.
