notice i dont care

well sure you care

otherwise you would not keep defending your 'good' name

not caring is another sign that you are yourself what you call your co-worker

but you do care...it's just not going your way

Dude, I understand your anger at someone that categorizes everyone of a certain skin color as a "N...."

A long time ago I had to share a ride back and forth to work, about 70 miles each way, with a guy who was perhaps the most bigoted guy I've ever come in contact with. He made the statement "my daddy always taught me, you don't bring n's or dogs to the supper table"..... I simply told him I knew about fifty black people that I'd have to dinner with me before I would have HIM to dinner.... He just laughed... but he toned it down a little bit. Not all the way, but it did slow him down some.

The point is, I managed to let him know what I thought about his racism without completely alienating him. I don't think it changed his opinion of other races, but perhaps over time he's remembered the conversation, like I have, and just MAYBE it made a little difference.

Those WERE about the longest three months or so of my life, however. He was simply a racist, AND a bully... but he found out that NEITHER of those tactics worked with me. But the bully thing is a whole 'nother story....;)

Someday I might get around to telling y'all about when I was doing some serious time as a young punk, and I learned about what really makes a man.

My grandfather ran a gas station over in the black part of town and I remember when he passed away there were more black people at his funeral than white. One of my co-workers who is black remembers going into the store as a kid and he would give her candy. So I don't understand why so many people in my family are racist when I know he taught them better than that. As I previously mentioned racism is a learned behavior and can be unlearned. I bought into that racist nonsense when I was younger but when I got older and actually began to interact with people of other ethnicities I came to realize that racism is bull****

We don't like to admit it, but it is often just a particular brand of hate we don't happen to practice. We each seem to have our own favorite things and people to hate..

Disliking someone for repugnant Behavior and disliking an entire group of people just because they're black is an entirely different thing

I think James Woods is an amazing actor.... I LOVE nearly every role I've seen him play.... brilliant actor..

But, to show just how GOOD an actor he is, when he played the role of the guy that murdered Medgar Evers, every time he opened his mouth in that movie, I wanted nothing more than to punch him repeatedly in the face.... great job of acting, if you can get one of your big fans to want to do you bodily harm..

"Ghosts of Mississippi"....

Not really. Often it is just the "scope." Racists won't try to know or understand the other people.... and we often won't try to know or understand the other individual....

Generally speaking, yes, it is. But if you write off ALL racists, haven't you done much the same thing as the racist has done?

You ought to watch "The Woodsman" with Kevin Bacon, if you want a movie that will confuse your emotions like that.

You'll probably never look at him quite the same again, but you will end up pulling for him.
