Are you going to pay for the free food, housing, condoms, clothing, utilities, and medical care? I opt out.
We all do anyway for inmates on death row, who sometimes wait decades themselves before actually being executed. I'm not sure how this is a religious issue. This is a social one. And if you're going to use the old testament to dictate your stance, then maybe society should follow history and reconsider which of the old testament scriptures to follow. I mean, shellfish and certain kinds of cloth or okay now. Whether I believe in god or not is irrelevant with this issue.

Surely you have by now read the Word of God on this, so how comes it that your wisdom is superior?
What are your arguments based on but moralistic & emotional nonsense?

If innocent persons are convicted, that means we need to follow Biblical standards of evidence. Require 3 witnesses.
But whatever you say, God's Word requires of man to execute murderers.
Well, you see, now you've contradicted yourself. First you say to use the biblibal standard of evidence of three people. But later you say man must convict on sufficient and strong evidence. According to today's standard of criminal law, just three people saying that you did something or didn't do something isn't sufficient and strong evidence. According to your argument, three people need to witness the crime for a conviction. But what if two, one, or no one sees you. Do you get off scottfree? That would be one more killer out on the street that you would have subjected the children to. How would that make you feel.

The other problem with that is that three people can say they see you when they really didn't. Now, whats left? A loose killer and a wrongly accused innocent person. In this instance, your standard doesn't work and doesn't fit your model of sufficient and strong evidence. The two concepts contradict each other.

God is in control of our world, if we don't acknowledge that we are operating on shaky ground. We decide on how we operate, God decides on how He reacts to our operation.

We need to listen to the Old Testament as that is the words of God. Often, those words are only a shadow of what Christ fulfills, but it is clear by scripture what Chris fulfilled and how. By finding all these things, we can know what Christ changed.

Christ did not change God's love for us. That love was expressed by instructing God's chosen governments to protect His people from those who kill. Through love of others, we need to protect them from murders.

I wonder how much of mainstream Christian opinion is influenced by the prevailing secular world view....whether it is abortion, legalizing drugs, climate change or the death penalty......it does sound as if Christians just go with the flow. Could it be that we are afraid of the truth? Afraid of being labeled for having an opinion that differs from the majority? Last time I checked, I don't think heaven was run based on principles of democracy. Right is right because its right, not because it necessarily sounds good.

Our whole society is degenerating. The next generation is being indoctrinated, even unintentionally, that we are not responsible for our actions - even the multiple rapist or serial killer is just misunderstood and cannot be blamed for his crimes because society "created" him or her. Its just sickening. Bringing back the death penalty would not only draw a line in the sand, that the rule of law is foundational, but that there are consequences to our actions.

Right now criminals are treated as victims, and set free, while the loved ones of the murdered are puzzled and feels betrayed by governments and law makers who were supposed to protect them.

Actually, children are behaving better. They are generally doing better in school, and the rates of teen pregnancy, teen smoking, teen drug use, and teen alcohol abuse are lowest it's been since we started recording those numbers.
