I just Googled about people losing height as they age. And it seems to be factual that folks shrink with age. I measured the same height as always (almost 5'10") at my last physical a few months ago. Man, I don't wanna shrink!!!

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I like being tall and springy!!

Shrinkage with age is caused by osteoporosis. Estimates vary,
but on average people lose ¼ to ½ inch every decade after
age 40 or 50,with losses increasing in later years, and
women generally losing more than men.

Yes its due to bone degeneration/osteoporosis. It is actually preventable through weightlifting and proper nutrition and/or supplementation.

shoot.... my wife is Irish, as I am... I'm not sure which demographic has the most volatile temper....
My wife is 1/2 Italian and it becomes obvious when she gets mad! lol
I know Irish and Italian, have some of both in family. The Irish are the most volatile (explosive).

If you start out short, and shrink as you age....

I wonder where you go when you disappear?

Probably someplace really weird,

like Canada.

This is not a whining about not being tall thread, but sometimes I’m thinking about what it’d be like being tall, like 5’8 or 5’9.

Is it easier going through life from those heights, than from the valleys of 5’2 or 5’3?

I’d sure wanna be like 5’9 for one day just to get to know what it’s like;):p.
Jen! You're back, girl! Hows it going? I have missed you so!

Interesting you say that.... All my adult life I thought I was the same height I was in high school (5'5").... but about 8 years ago I had to get a physical for my pharmacy license and was shocked to find out I had grown 2 full inches! ;)
That's where my height went! I gave a couple inches to you.

Whew! I feel better. I hate wasting stuff. lol

You don't want to be tall for the same reason a friend of mine at church wasn't really excited about getting her driver's license when she got old enough - "When I get it, mom will always be sending me to the store for something." When you are tall people are always asking you to get something they can't reach.

No I'm not tall. I have observed those who are tall though. And I've asked a few of them to get something I couldn't reach.

In the meantime...
And that's why I grow sideways. Because even after up, it wasn't enough growing. lol

And, for me. I really did lose height at about the time I lost springy. I just vaguely remember springy anymore. lol
