I am not into nicotine but caffeine is a major addiction for me, it's one of those things I have asked God for help with many times
Don’t worry about the caffeine, it is not a big deal unless you are drinking tons of Red Bull or something. Both coffee and tea are very good for you.

I’m addicted to school. I know some of you are looking at my age, and thinking ”What???” But it is true.

Every time I finish a degree, I sing “School’s out forever!” And then, it just sucks me back in for another diploma or degree. It costs a lot of money, it demands all my time. I just took German -2nd year college, and it was “in class” rather than “on line.” So, I lost marks, if I missed a class. Other than to see family at Christmas, we did nothing this winter. We are retired, and I kept telling my husband, “no, no, I can’t miss a class.” He kept begging me to travel to warm places, as I flipped word cards at the kitchen table.

School is just an excuse to buy books and write essays. And learn languages, theology, science and philosophy. I have tried to give it up, but the addiction goes deep.

And now, I have registered for another degree. Aghh! It never ends. The school ball and chain. I wonder if some day, it will take my life?? Well, tomorrow is my German final, pray for me to be able to write it. And that, I can just relax for a day or two, before I pick up a summer course. I am a prisoner! Help!!!

What degrees do you already have?

I have two primary addictions, the first I engage in several times a day. I have spent multiple hours a day just sitting at my computer reading and posting on ChristianChat.com. I really don't know how to give up that addiction, and, honestly, I am not motivated to do so. Perhaps someone can offer some suggestions? ;)

I am also addicted to reading certain types of books. I can spend many days in a row doing nothing but laying on my bed reading a good series of books.

I have spent the last three hours on ChristianChat. I am truly addicted. Is there any help for such a wretch as I?

Actually there's not much hope for this type of addiction. It's very much like a disease. I suffer from this malady as well. I don't think that qualifies us as wretches though but there may be a few in the BDF that would care to differ.

I have a BA in Physical Geography, a PDP, which is a certificate for teaching, an MDiv, and almost a French Language Proficiency Certificate. I have my Grade 9, RCM for flute, Grade 6 piano and Grade 4 RCM History and Harmony, as well as Rudiments. (RCM -Royal Conservatory of Music - Toronto, a Canadian standard)

I also have a full load of science courses, since my BA was supposed to be in science, but I took a lot of upper level education credits, which applied to a BA. I had only 9 upper level science credits left, but I had 2 small boys, and I decided to just take the BA, and spend more time with my kids. Of course, that meant music lessons, skating levels, tot hockey, soccer.....

I guess it is all about keeping busy? Or being obsessed?

I went through one of those phases, which I think I just wanted to keep my mind active and learn something new, so was looking at what else I could study. I have a degree in performing arts... my focus was contemporary dance and choreography, but I also received various awards and medals for acting (theatre).

I did study psychology in the past, and was looking to pursue that to degree level, but so glad I chose not to.

I don't have an addiction like you (lol :)) but I've now been looking at doing a degree in biblical studies... mainly because I haven't found a good study routine on my own, so think it will help me with that. I'll have to do it online, since I travel.

I often travel to Germany and Austria. I love Vienna!!! Unfortunately in all the years I've spent there I still don't know any German.... just Danke Schon! (If anything, I guess that's a good one to know!) but it's not an easy language, so well done for your bravery in studying it. I have some French blood (my great grandparents were French), so I made it a point to learn the language, although I'm not fluent. And the problem I find is when the French speak back to you in English.... they want to practice their English, and they probably think it's easier than dealing with your French (well, I'm not that bad). I heard the best way is to move to a foreign Country. I know someone who moved to Germany and picked it up pretty quick, since it was a matter of survival.

I can easily soak in the bath past the point of being a prune, especially if it's a milk bath with candles and a glass of red wine :)

I love old movies... especially anything with Audrey Hepburn (my favorite), Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. Sometimes I will spend a weekend just watching the classics.

I think that was her first film, that made her famous. But the ending ruined it for me :(

I didn't like the ending either. I think he should have written her and asked for his money back, and then they could have continued writing to each other and had a real romance.

*Spoiler Alert*

Yeah, they were determined to rob us of our expected fairytale ending, and paint reality instead. In her case, it was duty over love. I was hoping she would run after him :(

Lol, that’s not how fairy tales work. Women aren’t SUPPOSED to run after men. In fairy tales, the prince pursues the damsel. He was content to give her up, so she had no recourse but to stay a princess. I have read a lot of fairy tales, and that is how they work. The only fairy tale where the damsel pursued the prince was The Little Mermaid, and it ended tragically. He married another and she turned into sea foam. Anyway, Audrey Hepburn is not my favorite. She is too “twee”. I like earthier and warmer actresses like Claudette Colbert.
